  • Patent number: 5232203
Abstract: A base is wheel supported and carries an upright post member having laterally spaced apart brackets for engagement with two blades of a two or three bladed propeller when lifting a nose wheel. Each bracket is provided with a liner to avoid marring of blade edges. Post members of different lengths are provided for use in lifting a main gear wheel of low wing and high wing aircraft. Both of the last mentioned post members pivotally carries a lift pad for engagement with a wing surface. A method is disclosed for lifting a nose or main gear wheel off the ground to a stable elevated position. Fastener assemblies lock the propeller engaging brackets in the upright or inclined positions to engage a two bladed or a three bladed propeller.

  • Patent number: 5205222
Abstract: An ironing board for counter or table top attachment including an elongate main member for receiving the article being ironed. A pair of arms carry a disk which is beveled about its perimeter for wedged engagement with a pair of undercut rails affixed to the underside of the elongate main member to permit positioning of the elongate main member to best suit the user. A clamping arm is carried by the pair of arms and is upwardly engageable with the lip or overhang of the counter or table top. A handwheel and shaft permit upward urging of the clamping arm. A modified form of the present ironing board utilizes a clamping arm having a free end segment of reduced width to permit clamped engagement with a counter top between adjacent drawers below the counter.

  • Patent number: 5201124
Abstract: A sight is shown on an archery bow with the sight formed from a light collecting and conducting plastic. A bead of the sight is formed by a face located on end segment at one end of an elongate, tapered main member. The main member has a relatively large, light collecting surface area to assure bead illumination in low light conditions. The light waves collected by the main member are internally conducted by the sight formed from a transparent plastic with a fluorescent dye dispersed therein. One form of sight utilizes mechanical components for attachment to a bow while a modified form forms such components from the plastic material.

  • Patent number: 5199754
Abstract: A motor driven barrier is disclosed for installation on the front end of a school bus. An elongate barrier member is carried in a stowed position adjacent the bus front bumper and upon deployment protrudes forwardly from the bus in approximate alignment with the right side of the vehicle. A motor housing includes brackets for bumper attachment. A reversible electric motor powers a driven shaft through 90.degree. or so to position the barrier. A lost motion drive includes a spiral spring which yields in the event an obstruction is encountered by the arm. A second spiral spring cooperates with the first mentioned spring to locate the barrier in an operatively disposed position forward of the vehicle and permits momentary displacement of the barrier. A pair of switches serve to establish polarity reversing motor circuits with the switches in relay controlled circuits with a driver actuated vehicle door control switch. A barrier mounted light is in circuit with the vehicle's amber light system.

  • Patent number: 5195841
Abstract: The locator includes a main body having a cup formed therein by an upright wall in which an indicator is slidably disposed. A spring within said main body urges the indicator upwardly to the surface of newly laid molten asphalt. A heat fusible retainer is carried within the upright wall of the main body in the path of the locator to normally retain same in place against spring action. Heat from the asphalt causes fusing of the retainer for release of the indicator which is repositioned to the surface of the asphalt material to facilitate locating of a buried street cover. A method is disclosed for paving a roadway having utility covers in place in the roadway.

  • Patent number: 5192055
Abstract: A brace assembly for fence and gate posts as well as corner posts is disclosed and includes upper and lower bracket assemblies for clamped engagement with a fence post. Each bracket assembly includes angular bracket members which may include diagonal flanges which serve to receive the ends of adjustable braces. Lower bracket assemblies serve to attach ground engaging members to the post. The braces are axially adjustable for attachment to the ground engaging members which may be inclined for contact with sloped terrain. A modified form of a bracket assembly includes a clamping plate with a boss through which extends a gate pintle arm to permit a fence post to serve as a gate post. A further modification of the bracket assemblies permits a steel fence post to serve as a fence corner post with braces extending downwardly and rearwardly from the corner post. Additional bracing may extend horizontally from the corner post to adjacent fence posts.

  • Patent number: 5190118
Abstract: Systems are disclosed for the driving of a truck during a paving operation by an operator located alongside the truck and adjacent the paving site. The truck transmission power take off powers a hydraulic pump with pump output being controlled by a pair of solenoid valves with one regulating fluid flow to a hydraulic drive motor driving the truck differential through a gear reduction drive while the other valve controls fluid flow to a hydraulic motor coupled to a steering component of the truck. Both of the solenoid valves are in electrical circuit with switches located exteriorally on the truck for access by the dismounted driver as is a truck brake control. Accordingly steering, braking and fore and aft truck movement may all be accomplished by an operator positioned adjacent the truck.

  • Patent number: 5178038
Abstract: A crankpin on the crankshaft of a variable compression engine carries an eccentric bushing which is positionable about the crankpin axis to determine the length of piston stroke. To counteract the relocation of the bushing center of gravity counterweights are rotatably housed in a counterbalance of the crankshaft. Partial rotation of each counterweight shifts their centers of gravity with respect to the crankshaft axis of rotation to achieve crankshaft balancing. For positioning of the counterweights coincident with shifting of the eccentric bushing the same are shown coupled with gears. Positioning of the eccentric bushing to change piston stroke of the engine is by a motor responsive to a microprocessor and engine performance criteria.

  • Patent number: 5177473
Abstract: A foot operated electrical control is disclosed with simulated aircraft rudder pedals coupled to potentiometers for providing signals to a microcomputer having a flight simulation program. The pedals are additionally linked to one another by slides and a rocker arm for simultaneous pedal travel in opposite directions. The potentiometers may provide cumulative signals determined by pedal displacement or distinct signals when functioning independently of one another. For this latter purpose a carrier block for the rocker arm is positionable out of engagement with the foot pedals. Opposed springs of the control serve to position the pedals in an upright static position. Each pedal is coupled to a potentiometer by spring and pedal biased slides with one of the slides in wiping contact with the pedal.
