  • Patent number: 6076926
Abstract: Face conforming eyewear includes a rotation limiting hinged bridge and flexible temples with open barrel hinges to reduce the inflexibility of the eyewear frame. The preferred temples have a greater than 90.degree. movement, up to about 105.degree., with respect to the frame. The extra degrees of movement of the temples and the limited rotational movement of the hinged bridge, from about 4.degree. to about 12.degree., allows opposed sides of the frame and the temples to shift and to absorb pressure when contact has been made with the eyewear, especially when worn in active sports. The bridge can incorporate a single or double three barrel hinged.

  • Patent number: 6058971
Abstract: A quick-connect diverter valve for use in connecting existing water faucets and water filtration units in and around a kitchen, or other areas where clean drinking water is desired. The device consists of a body having a movable sleeve adaptor at one end and an outlet opening at the other end. The sleeve adaptor is slidable to allow the body to be quickly inserted onto and held in an annular groove formed on a snap adapter secured to an outlet end of an existing faucet or tap. The body of the device includes a central chamber having an easily operated piston valve member which is slidingly held therein so that upon actuation of an operating member, the valve member is moved in a first direction to allow entering water to flow from the device into a water filter and back from the water filter through a further chamber and out the outlet end of the device.

  • Patent number: 6058519
Abstract: A flow control device for a toilet to prevent flooding upon obstructing of a waste outlet of a toilet bowl. The device includes a sensor assembly mounted on a clip held over a rim of the toilet bowl so as to hold the sensor assembly in a predetermined position within the toilet bowl. The clip may include adjustable elements thereon to enable the height of the sensor assembly to be adjusted, depending on the size and type of toilet in which it is affixed. If water bridges contacts on the sensor assembly, an electrical circuit is completed, and a solenoid is actuated to close a normally opened valve to shut off running water to the water tank of the toilet. The present invention is an easily-added-on, simplified device for use with a toilet bowl to prevent flooding, if the waste outlet of the toilet bowl is blocked for any reason.

  • Patent number: 6053924
Abstract: A medical device and method are described for performing Trans Myocardial Revascularization (TMR) in a human heart. The device consists of a myocardial implant and a directable intracardiac catherter that are suited for delivery into a heart wall of the implant. The catheter utilizes a percutaneous, minimally-invasive access to reach the inner surface of the heart chambers. The catheter provides a conduit for advancing multiple myocardial implants to the heart wall. The implant may include anchoring elements or a retainer for holding the implant body into the heart wall. The implant may include a tapered leading end, and can be advanced into the heart wall using a rotational or a pushing technique until the implant is fully deployed. The implant is then released from the catheter, and another implant inserted into the catheter, or the catheter withdrawn from the human body.

  • Patent number: 6044759
Abstract: A registration system for aligning a printing screen frame with an image platform includes a plurality of arms, rotatably secured to a lower surface of the image platform. The rotatable arms have retractable registration elements mounted on the outer ends thereof, and have inner ends which are mounted so as to be translated outwardly from and towards the lower surface of the image platform upon rotation of the arms, between retracted and registration positions. In the registration position, the registration elements are aligned with and cooperate with the printing screen frame to accurately align the printing screen frame over the image platform.

  • Patent number: 6042453
Abstract: A feeding container for bees supports frames in a hollow interior and is placed in the interior of a beehive, to both feed bees and divide the interior. The feeding container is parallelepiped in shape with an open top and a capacity to hold a large amount of feed and a plurality of frames, having standard Langstroth dimensions. The feeding container leaves a space of approximately 3 millimeters between its ends and the side walls of a beehive. The container is supported on a floor of the hive by legs formed in the container to provide a separation of about 8 millimeters from the floor to the base of the feeding container base to allow bees to crawl between the divided interior.

  • Patent number: 6041740
Abstract: A filtering system for fish bowls and aquariums is held in a specifically formed cavity formed integrally at the bottom of the fish bowl or aquarium, which is held in a stand that supports and conceals the specifically shaped cavity and also hides an electric motor therein. The electric motor is magnetically coupled through a drive magnet held against the flat bottom of the bowl or aquarium to a driven magnet, having an impeller attached thereto, for recirculating water through the filter. A perforated top plate covers the filtering element, and includes a porous filter material therein to allow water to pass from a main body of water through the porous filter material and through the specifically-shaped cavity into a tubular central portion and out the tubular central portion back into the body of water. The stand both supports the bowl and conceals the motor, as well as a possible light source therein.
