Abstract: A europium activated yttrium oxide phosphor is prepared as follows. Europium oxide is dissolved in nitric acid. Ammonium hydroxide is added to precipitate europium hydroxide, which is then dissolved in citric acid monohydrate to form europium citrate solution. Yttrium oxide powder is added to the solution to form a slurry, which is then spray dried. The spray dried powder is fired at a high temperature to form the phosphor.

Abstract: A method of making a niobium activated yttrium tantalate x-ray phosphor using a lithium chloride-lithium sulfate eutectic flux is disclosed. The mole ratio of the flux is 46.5 mole percent lithium chloride to 53.5 mole percent lithium sulfate. Use of this flux improves phosphor brightness by up to 18%, reducing the x-ray dosage to the patient.
Abstract: A brazing alloy in accordance with this invention has the following composition, by weight: 91 to 99% gold, 0.5 to 7% nickel; 0.10 to 2% titanium. Alternatively, with palladium present, the composition is as follows, by weight: 83 to 96% gold; 3 to 10% palladium; 0.5 to 5% nickel; 0.10 to 2% titanium.

Abstract: A circuit breaker comprises a compensator bimetal and a main bimetal which deflect in the same direction when heated. Each bimetal carries an electrical contact, which are normally in contact with each other. Upon overload, the contacts open. However, opening of the contacts causes electric current to flow through a heater wire wrapped around the armature bimetal, thereby keeping the main bimetal deflected and keeping the contacts apart.

Abstract: An overtemperature protector for an incandescent lamp socket housing comprises a glass enclosed circuit breaker and an electrical heater in proximate heat transfer relationship therewith. The heater is in series with the circuit breaker so that when the circuit breaker is open, there can be no current flow through the heater.
Abstract: A brazing paste consists of a liquid vehicle containing finely dispersed brazing alloy powder therein. The liquid vehicle consists of hydroxylpropylcellulose and 1,2-propanediol.
Abstract: A filler metal for brazing parts made of superalloys has a brazing temperature of 1025.degree.-1080.degree. C., a solidus temperature above 1000.degree. C., a liquidus temperature above 1018.degree. C. and a composition of, in weight percent, 5-30 gold, 15-35 palladium, 10-30 nickel, 20-48 copper, 5-25 manganese.
Abstract: An electrical circuit breaker comprises a base with two terminals embedded in, and extending through, the base. The external plug-in portions of the terminals are centered on the base. The internal portions of the terminals are off to one side in order to accommodate a PMB bimetal mounted on said internal portions. A cover secured to the base encloses the PMB bimetal.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a compact solid state protector unit which comprises an inner insert structure, and an outer cover member having an open base end and adapted to be removably disposed over the insert structure, and a base member adapted to releasably seal the open base end of the cover member. The inner insert structure is constructed and arranged to support the components of a protector circuit mounted thereon in insulated spaced relationship. The disclosed protector circuit comprises two bidirectional solid state voltage sensitive switch devices with an associated ground terminal, two variable resistance devices, and line protector means for protecting the solid state protector unit from high voltage transients and abnormal currents.
Abstract: A brazing alloy useful for brazing ceramics having the following composition, in weight percent: 0.3 to 5% titanium; 2 to 15% nickel; 0.25 to 4% silicon; balance copper.
Abstract: A filler metal for brazing tungsten carbide has a brazing temperature of 1025.degree.-1080.degree. C., a solidus temperature above 950.degree. C., a liquidus temperature above 1018.degree. C. and a composition of, in weight percent, 5-30 gold, 15-35 palladium, 10-30 nickel, 20-48 copper, 5-25 manganese.
Abstract: A building entrance telephone terminal enclosure is provided having a bottom wall with a plurality of openings formed therein for entry of cables into the enclosure. The bottom wall is formed of a pair of plates which mate in meshing engagement along a line running through the centerlines of the openings such that a cable and the components to which it is connected may be installed into the enclosure without removing the components from the cable. The enclosure structure comprises a door which is interchangeable from a left opening to a right opening configuration, and a readily removable, and installable, panel for mounting the components in the enclosure.
Abstract: A passaged PTC heater is electroded by hot aluminum spraying. A hot alkaline solution is used to dissolve and remove undesired aluminum that may be coated on the passage walls. However, prior thereto, the aluminum electrode coating is covered with a protective solvent-removable alkaline-resistant resist ink.

Abstract: A brazing alloy-filler metal for brazing parts made of TiAlNb alloys has a brazing temperature of about 1020.degree. to 1250.degree. C. and a composition of, in weight percent, 37-75 titanium, 5-43 niobium, 20-58 nickel.
Abstract: A pressureless sintering process is disclosed for producing silicon nitride bodies of near theoretical density from an admixture of silicon nitride and sintering aids of mixtures of lanthanum oxide and aluminum oxide, lanthanum aluminate, and mixtures of lanthanum aluminate and aluminum oxide and mixtures of lanthanum aluminate and lanthanum oxide.
Abstract: Alumina is bonded to a metal by means of an active brazing filler alloy. When the metal to which the alumina is bonded is a high blushing metal, that is, a metal on which the active brazing filler alloy readily flows on the surface, a thin layer of a low blushing metal is disposed therebetween.
Abstract: An electrically powered forced air heater includes six triangular PTC heating elements co-planarly disposed within a circular shroud with a apex of each element being disposed adjacent a common central point and the sides of the six PTC heating elements which are opposite the aforesaid apexes forming a hexagon. The area collectively occupied by the six PTC heating elements is greater than 78% of the cross sectional area of the circular shroud. The PTC heating elements are provided with a multiplicity of air flow holes therethrough and an electric fan is arranged to force air through the holes without interference with the rotational component of the fan-forced air vortex before the fan forced air strikes the PTC heating elements.
