  • Patent number: 4388754
Abstract: The present invention relates to a skid protections device (3) for wheels preferably snow chains for vehicle wheels. In order to permit quick and simple assembly of snow chains on vehicle wheels the device according to the invention comprises a power aggregate attached to a wheel, coupled to a bracket thereon. The bracket with skid protection means may be mounted at the wheel with the skid protection means extending in working position around the wheel except a part thereof which is prevented from attaching a working position by the wheel engaging a ground. The power aggregate, in coupled condition, moves the blocked part of the skid protection means to the working position when it is released by rotation of the wheel, the skid protection means in working position is movable in peripheral direction relative to the wheel during rotation.

  • Patent number: 4358052
Abstract: A hot water central heating system with a conduit system conducting a water flow and comprising intercommunicating pipes which intersect in decks and substantially fills the cross-section of the combustion chamber of a boiler and offers a large flow resistance to the firing gases in order to lower the exhaust gas temperature. A pressure limiting valve disposed upstream of the circulating pump protects the hot water conduit system against excessive pressure resulting from the formation of vapor. Corrosion-resistant lining of the exhaust gas chimney by means of an internally enamelled pipe is recommended owing to the low exhaust gas temperature which can be reached. Fuel is continuously supplied to the burner, the fuel flow rate being modulated by a controller responsive to heat sensor means placed in the hot-water outlet of the boiler.

  • Patent number: 4354411
Abstract: The shears have a lower blade and an upper blade. The upper blade is reciprocated with respect to the lower blade through a transmission. The transmission includes a first eccentric which is continuously rotated to continuously reciprocate the upper blade over a vertical stroke equal to the throw of the first eccentric. This throw is transmitted to the upper blade through a second eccentric surrounding the first. The second eccentric is quickly rotatable, between two positions. In the first position, the upper blade is always clear of a billet on the lower blade. In the second position, the upper blade cuts the billet during the reciprocation. To ensure that the upper blade only penetrates approximately half the thickness of the billet, the position of the lower blade is vertically adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4351359
Abstract: A fast closing valve for gaseous and liquid medium closes, against a resilient force, upon the occurrence of a sudden pressure difference in the conduit, specially aeration conduits for use in anti-aircraft protection shelters. The main part is a valve-flap having the form of a dihedron (10), which is mounted, pivoting easily within a chamber (9) about the axis of the vertex of the dihedron (axis 11). On either side of the valve-flap (10a, 10b) are associated deviation openings (7,8) of the chamber (9) which will be closed alternately by the pivoting of the flap (10). The flap (10) is normally held in a stable open position by a spring arrangement (14) until one or the other of the flap sides is subject to a pressure wave causing the closure of one or the other of the openings (7,8).

  • Patent number: 4342358
Abstract: In a continuous casting installation, screw-less fixing of the roller guide segment frames to the bed is achieved by means of a plurality of traction rods which can be subjected to traction force by hydraulic means. Each traction rod has a nut thereon which is loadable by a respective ring piston guided in a self-adjusting manner in a semi-cylindrical bearing member supported on the bed. The free end of the traction rod is an apertured head aligned with frame apertures. A locking pin passing through said apertures releasably interconnects the rod and the segment frame.

  • Patent number: 4333370
Abstract: A plant for slitting a hot slab, emerging from a continuous casting machine, by means of band sawing machines of which two or more are guided in the serial direction of the slab and are slidably guided transversely to the slab feed direction so that saw changing can be performed in a position outside the rollers of the roller table. Normally, all band sawing machines are in the operating position so that a second, third and so on band sawing machine continues the slitting cut if the saw blade of the preceding machine breaks. The band sawing machines are conveniently provided with one-sided, C-frames, each of which has at least three cantilevered guide rollers for the saw blade, of which one roller is driven.

  • Patent number: 4318533
Abstract: An apparatus for maintaining tension on a tension cable which is wound on the drum of a winch and connected at one end to a position varying object, especially for maintaining the tension of a power cable leading to a travelling coal extraction machine. The winch, preferably a conventional pressure drive operated hauling coiler can be regulated and driven reversibly and it can produce also at stand-still a continuous rotary moment. A tensioning device having a tensioning pulley 11 is also provided and is subjected to the force of the spring 14, the tension cable 6 being guided around the pulley 11 so that over the spring force a desired nominal tension can be set on the tension cable. Position changes of the tension pulley produce over an actuating linkage 14 a control of the winch so that the tension pulley returns into the original equilibrium position. This control process may be accompanied by running the cable off the winch or hauling it in.

  • Patent number: 4272919
Abstract: The present invention relates to seed carriers which are preferably in the form of seed-containing sheets to be laid out on the ground. The seed carriers are produced continuously on a large scale by the utilization of forming wire machines commonly used for papermaking. The seed carrier is formed in part of a peat material which is fibre-graded, in that colloids and small particles have been removed, and/or of a peat material having a degree of humidification of 1 to 3 according to von Post's scale, and in part of a fibre material interconnecting the peat fibres. The seed carrier according to the invention may be used for growing all kinds of crop, preferably in growing plants in dry districts, for instance desert areas, where it will form a cover which promotes the retention of moisture in the underlying soil.

  • Patent number: 4261826
Abstract: Magnetic filter apparatus with a plurality of magnetic bars, carried on endless conveyor chains through a container for contaminated liquid, having for the cleaning of said magnetic bars a device which is positioned outside the liquid above the fluid container. The cleaning device has at least two chain-driven dirt scrapers with wiping formations which enclose from above and below one or more magnetic bars during the cleaning process. In order that the dirt removed during the scraping operation should not fall onto the driving chains, the chain drive is positioned above and to the side of the liquid container. The chain drive moves a steered carriage which bears scraping rods which can be opened and closed pincer-fashion. The dirt scrapers are positioned on the front ends of these rods which project over the container area. The cleaning process takes place with pincers closed, the return stroke with pincers open.
