Abstract: Initiator compositions for materials which can be polymerized cationically are described, these containingi) an anhydride of a polycarboxylic acid, a polyisocyanate, a cyclic carbonate, a lactone or a mixture of such compounds, and dissolved thereinii) at least one compoumd of the formula I[M.sup.+n (L).sub.x ].sup.n+ nX.sup.- (I)in which n is 2 or 3, M is a metal cation selected from the group consisting of Zn.sup.2+, Mg.sup.2+, Fe.sup.2+, Co.sup.2+, Ni.sup.2+, Cr.sup.2+, Ru.sup.2+, Mn.sup.2+, Sn.sup.2+, VO.sup.2+, Fe.sup.3+, Al.sup.3+ and Co.sup.3+, X.sup.- is an anion which is selected from the group consisting of AsF.sub.6.sup.-, SbF.sub.6.sup.-, BiF.sub.6.sup.- and derivatives derived from these anions in which a fluorine atom is replaced by hydroxyl groups, or in which up to 50% of the anions X.sup.-, based on the total amount of anions, can also be any desired anions, L is water or an organic .sigma.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a glycidyl ether of a di-secondary alcohol with a monomer content of about 80% to about 90% of the formula (I) ##STR1## comprising the steps of: (a) reacting a di-secondary alcohol of the formula (II) ##STR2## with epichlorohydrin in the presence of an alkali and a phase transfer catalyst to produce a glycidyl ether with a monomer content of about 60% to about 75%; and(b) reacting said glycidyl ether with a monomer content of about 60% to about 75% with epichlorohydrin in the presence of an alkali and benzyltrimethylammonium chloride to produce a glycidyl ether of a di-secondary alcohol with a monomer content of about 80% to about 90%.
Abstract: There is provided a pharmaceutical composition comprising as component A a plasminogen activator and as component B hirudin together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The pharmaceutical composition can be used for the prophylaxis and therapy of thrombosis or diseases caused by thrombosis.

Abstract: Positive-working photoresist compositions containing(a) an epoxide resin which can be hardened by heat,(b) a latent urea or imidazole hardener for the component (a) and(c) an iron-arene complex of the formula (I)[R.sup.1 (Fe.sup.II R.sup.2).sub.n ].sub.m.sup.+n [X].sub.n.sup.-m(I)in which n is 1 or 2, m is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, X is a non-nucleophilic anion, R.sup.1 is a .pi.-arene and R.sup.2 is an anion of a .pi.-arene, are described.These compositions are distinguished by good properties towards heat and chemicals and require short exposure times.
Abstract: The present invention provides an aqueous coating composition comprising:a) an aqueous electrodepositable film-forming binder; andb) as corrosion inhibitor, an effective amount of the reaction product of i) cinnamaldehyde and ii) an amine having the formula R--(CH.sub.2).sub.n --NH.sub.2 wherein R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl, C.sub.5 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl or --NH.sub.2, and n is O or an integer within the range of from 1 to 10.

Abstract: Storage-stable, non-sedimenting emulsions containinga) 10 to 40% by weight, based on the emulsion, of (A) phenolic antioxidants and antioxidants from the series comprising (B) thiodipropionic acid esters or/and (C) organic phosphites,b) 0.25 to 10% by weight, based on the emulsion, of a surfactant of the formula R-COOY, in which R is alkyl having 3 to 18 atoms, alkenyl having 3 to 18 C atoms or phenyl-C.sub.3 -C.sub.18 alkyl and Y is an alkali metal,0.25 to 10% by weight, based on the emulsion, of an alcohol of the formula R'-OH, in which R' is alkyl having 4 to 19 C atoms, alkenyl having 4 to 19 C atoms or phenyl-C.sub.4 C.sub.19 alkyl, andwater as the remainder to make 100% by weight.The emulsions are employed in particular for stabilizing emulsion-polymerized polymers and copolymers, for example ABS.
Abstract: Novel soluble polyamide-polyimide block copolymers having an average molecular weight M.sub.n of 1,000-50,000 and containing radicals of the formula ##STR1## in the polyimide blocks are described. The compounds can be crosslinked by heating to give insoluble products.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the preparation of di-secondary alcohols comprising the reaction of an alcohol and a diglycidyl ether of a dihydric phenol in the presence of a catalyst of the formula (IV):MX (IV)wherein M is a metal from Groups IB to VIIIB or a metal or metalloid from Groups IIA to VA of the Periodic Chart of Elements or an ammonium ion and X is an anion selected from the group consisting of BF.sub.4.sup.-, PF.sub.6.sup.-, AsF.sub.6.sup.-, SbF.sub.6.sup.-, AlF.sub.4.sup.-, TiF.sub.6.sup.2-, SiF.sub.6.sup.2-, and ZrF.sub.6.sup.2- to produce the di-secondary alcohol, which can then be subjected to glycidylation to produce a glycidyl ether, orthe reaction of an alcohol, glycol or polyol and epichlorohydrin in the presence of the foregoing catalyst, followed by ring closure employing an alkali to produce a mono- or polyglycidyl ether. The monoglycidyl ether can be further reacted with a dihydric phenol to produce a di-secondary alcohol which is then glycidylized to produce a glycidyl ether.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of crosslinked polymers by heating selected polyamide-polyimide block copolymers having an average molecular weight M.sub.n of 1,000-50,000 is described. In the compounds, at least 10 mol % of alkyl-substituted diaminodiphenylmethane groups, relative to the total amount of diamine radicals in the polyamide and polyimide blocks, are co-condensed.The uncrosslinked compounds are soluble in dipolar, aprotic solvents.
Abstract: Compounds of the formula Ia or Ib ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently of one another, are hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl or, together with the carbon atoms in the .alpha.-position to the carbonyl groups, form a cyclopentane, cyclopentene, cyclohexane, cyclohexene, cyclohexadiene or bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene ring which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, or form a monocyclic or polycyclic, aromatic ring system which is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, independently of one another, are hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl, and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, independently of one another, are alkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups, are highly suitable as flame retardants for polymers.
Abstract: Acrylate copolymers which contain groups are reacted with a 2-hydroxphenylbenzotriazole which contains a carboxyl group. A permanent light stabilization of the acrylate copolymers is thereby achieved. The modified acrylate resins so obtained are particularly suitable for use as binders for coating materials.
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for making a metallic pattern on a substrate having a surface comprising bare metal in predetermined areas and metal coated by a resist in remaining areas which comprises (i) protecting the bare metal by coating with a film-forming resin, (ii) removing any film-forming resin from the resist, (iii) removing the resist from said remaining areas using a solvent which will not remove the film-forming resin, thereby exposing metal in said remaining areas, (iv) etching the metal exposed in (iii) using an etchant which does not remove the film-forming resin and (v) removing the film-forming resin with a suitable solvent.
Abstract: A process for coating a plastics article with a thin layer of noble metal, wherein said plastics article contains a finely particulate, homogenized filler selected from the group consisting of MnO, NiO, Cu.sub.2 O, SnO and Bi.sub.2 O.sub.3, and said plastics article is coated with an acid aqueous solution of a noble metal salt.

Abstract: Curing a curable composition comprising(a) 90 to 50% by weight of a diglycidyl ether of hydrogenated bisphenol A, a diglycidyl ether of hydrogenated bisphenol F, or a mixture thereof,(b) 50 to 10% by weight of a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin consisting of formula I, II, III ##STR1## or a mixture thereof, wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently of the other a hydrogen atom or methyl, m is an interger from 2 to 6, X is a group ##STR2## R.sub.3 is hydrogen or methyl and n is an integer from 2 to 4, and the radical R.sub.3 may have different meanings within the molecule and the mixture of components (a) and (b) is 100% by weight,(c) a cycloaliphatic polycarboxylic anhydride as hardener, and, as additional optional component,(d) a curing catalyst,gives moulding or coatings having valuable thermomechanical properties and enhanced resistance to hydrolysis and weathering.
