Abstract: A diaphragm valve assembly adapted for use in irrigation systems as a zone valve includes a solenoid-operated diaphragm to control flow through the valve under normal operations, and a ball valve is situated between an inlet port and one or more outlet ports and is selectively movable to a position closing the valve to prevent liquid flow therethrough independently of the opening and closing of the diaphragm so as to permit servicing or repair of the valve without shutting off the entire system.

Abstract: A paint roller tray is releasably attached to a side rail of the ladder by means of a bracket and clamping mechanism, the clamping mechanism being releasably engageable to either side rail and slidable along the slide rail as the painter moves up and down the ladder. The paint roller tray comprises an enlarged receptacle portion and a relatively narrow rectangular support portion which is releasably mounted on the bracket of the ladder attachment, and a brush holder is provided for releasably securing a brush to the support portion when the brush is not in use.

Abstract: A head covering, such as, a cap of the type having a visor and head-encircling portion is provided with an identification pocket formed in the visor by upper and lower panels disposed in closely spaced parallel relation to one another, the lower panel being separable from the upper panel to form an entrance for insertion of an identification card into the pocket formed between the panels. In one form, the lower panel is of a smaller size than the upper panel and attached in centered relation to the upper panel with a separable edge portion facing inwardly toward the head-encircling portion of the cap; and in an alternate form the lower panel is coextensive with the upper panel and has an inner edge portion releasably secured to the inner edge portion of the upper panel to form an entrance for insertion of identification cards therein.

Abstract: Food contents are separated from ferrous metal cans for conversion into useful byproducts by lacerating the can bodies into strips of metal to expose their contents, advancing along a vibrating conveyor section through a liquid spray, followed by magnetic separation to remove the metal strips and separately collect the food contents and metal strips for recycling. In order to convert the food contents into animal feed, the contents are first dried to reduce their moisture level either by mechanical dehydration or by the addition of bulking agents and then advanced through an extruder section to convert the food contents into dry particle form.

Abstract: A device which measures ethanol levels expelled through a subject's skin to monitor blood alcohol level at regular or random intervals. The device differentiates between a positive reading caused by an external, interferant, source of ethanol and a positive reading caused by consumption of alcohol. The device is attached to the subject by a secure conductive strap which provides an indication that the device remains attached to the subject. The device monitors the skin temperature of the subject prior to performing the alcohol test to provide an indication of a barrier being placed between the device and the subject's skin. The device measures the distance from the subject's skin, thereby preventing the subject from moving the device far enough away to provide an inaccurate indication of the amount of alcohol in the subject's blood and providing another tamper indication if the device is removed.

Abstract: A portable safety device is adapted for releasable mounting on a weight training bench and includes a base frame which fits over the bench, spaced upright side frame members extending upwardly from opposite sides of the base frame with forward horizontal extensions on the side frame members so that when the weight lifter is in a prone position with his/her head between the side frame members, the weight lifter is protected from injury in the event that the weight lifter should lose control of the barbell during bench press exercises.

Abstract: An improvement in a stuffing box for a rotary polished rod having a tubular housing with first and second rod guides disposed at each end and packing elements therebetween. The lower rod guide is in the form of an annular bushing, and annular interior sealing elements are disposed at each of the ends of the bushing thereby effecting a sealing engagement between the internal surface of the bushing and the external surface of the rod. An annular exterior sealing element is disposed on the external surface of the bushing thereby effecting a sealing engagement between the external surface of the bushing and the internal surface of the housing, and bearing members are interposed between the rod guides and packing elements, each having an inner race rotatable with the polished rod and an outer stationary race.

Abstract: A sealant applicator for dispensing sealant material under pressure from a nozzle onto a succession of can lids which are advanced into alignment with the sealant applicator nozzle includes a needle valve which is positively driven in a forward and reverse direction to open and close the nozzle under the control of a pair of solenoids arranged in back-to-back relation and an adjustable limit stop member to regulate the amount of sealant applied to each can lid. One or more sealant applicators may be mounted for rotation in synchronism with a rotatable chuck table and are program-controlled to control the amount of sealant applied to each lid.

Abstract: A system for storing and transporting can end members comprising multiple tray units having multiple parallel rows of elongated compartments for receiving and supporting stacks of end members. The tray units are nestable and stackable one upon another to provide palletized loads of both empty and filled tray units. End loading and unloading apparatus is provided to enable simultaneous loading and unloading full tray compartments by simultaneous lateral movement of all of the stacks of end members between the tray compartments and a shuttle tray unit whereat all the stacks of end members are stored prior to loading and unloading of the tray unit. The shuttle tray unit is loaded and unloaded by stacking units of a lesser number than the number of tray compartments.

Abstract: A golf ball retrieving device comprises a set of short telescoping tubular shafts which, when collapsed, will fit easily in a pocket of a golf bag or the like. The base shaft section is provided with an open cylindrical socket at its base end. The socket has a lengthwise slot on its side opposite the base section through which the metal shaft of a golf club may be introduced. The socket may then be moved along the club shaft until the gripping handle of the shaft enters the socket and the increasing thickness thereof may be pressed into firm engagement with the socket. The combined club shaft and the telescoping sections may thus be extended to provide a ball retrieving shaft two or three times the length of the club shaft alone. A ball pick-up device, which may be a ring having an internal diameter a little less than the diamemter of a golf ball, is mounted at the outer end of the end section so that a ball may be engaged by the user and picked up at a substantial distance from the user.

Abstract: A dispenser for the application of a fluid or fluid-like material to another surface, such as, the surface of the skin is made up of an outer casing with an adjustable end cap at one end and an applicator brush at the opposite end, and a bellows-shaped container is disposed in the casing so as to be compressed by inward threaded adjustment of the end cap to discharge the material onto the applicator brush. A duckbill valve at the discharge end of the container automatically opens when a compressive force is applied to the contents within the container and, when force is no longer applied, will return to a closed position sealing off the end of the container.

Abstract: A portable power rinse system which can be truck-mounted and has a rinse pipe, drum support arms and nozzle mounted in off-center relation within the vessel so that a drum can be inverted into the vessel and the rinse nozzle inserted into an opening at one end of the drum and the drum tilted in different directions about the support arm for thorough flushing of the contents of the drum which are removed through a drain hose at the lower end of the vessel. A manifold with a flow control valve regulates flow of a rinsing liquid either into the rinse nozzle in the vessel or to an externally located, hand-operated spray for rinsing out the interior of the vessel as well as other smaller containers to be flushed or rinsed.
