  • Patent number: 6471587
Abstract: A game method and device are set forth wherein pairs of hands are exposed to the player. If one of the pairs has a qualifying holding, the game method provides for the exchange of indicia between the hands to increase the reward to be received by the player. Where the game is based upon the use of playing cards, two hands of five cards each are exposed to the player. If one of the hands has a qualifying holding such as a pair of 7s or better, the player can exchange cards between the hands to increase the poker ranking of one or both of the hands. The reward is based upon the ranking of the hands. The device for practicing the game may provide for automatic transformation to obtain the best possible outcome.

  • Patent number: 6419578
Abstract: A starting hand of five cards is dealt and the player then plays this hand with a first pay table. If the player's starting hand of cards has a poker hand ranking of any preselected combination of cards, such as a Three-of-a-Kind, the player is given the option of choosing to play the rest of the hand with a second pay table which has higher awards to the player than the first pay table. In another variation, the player is dealt a starting hand of cards, such as five cards, and the player would play this hand with a pay table. If the player's starting hand of cards has a poker hand ranking of a preselected combination of cards, such as a Three-of-a-Kind, the player is given a second hand of cards identical to the first hand of cards and the player plays out both the first hand and the second hand by discarding and drawing replacement cards.

  • Patent number: 6368212
Abstract: A fifty-two card deck of playing cards are displayed all face down. The player makes three separate wagers. A player selects five of the cards and the computer selects randomly five of the cards. All selected cards are turned face up. The poker hand ranking of the player's five cards is determined and the player is paid based on a pay table and the amount of the player's first wager if the player achieves a predetermined poker hand ranking on the player's five cards. The poker hand ranking of the computer's five cards is determined and the player is paid based on a pay table and the amount of the player's second wager if the player achieves a predetermined poker hand ranking on the computer's five cards. The player is also paid based multiples of the amount of the player's third wager based on the number of matches between the player's five cards and the computer's five cards. The method may also be practiced using two player's hands and two computer hands.

  • Patent number: 6364313
Abstract: A method is provided to allow two or more, and preferably three, keno games to be played on the same keno ticket while at the same time allowing the results of the two or more, and preferably three, keno games to be blended together to provide new winning keno combinations to be available to the player. A keno ticket is provided with two or more, and preferably three, sections for each possible numbered spot. The player selects one or more numbered spots on the keno ticket. When the numbers are drawn, a first twenty numbers are drawn corresponding to the first section of the keno ticket from a complete pool of eighty numbers. Then the keno balls are re-mixed, and another twenty numbers are drawn corresponding to the second section of the keno ticket from a complete pool of eighty numbers.

  • Patent number: 6343989
Abstract: A player makes a wager and a starting five card video poker hand is displayed to the player. The computer controls of the gaming machine calculate the highest expected value (highest TEVi) for the five card hand displayed. The player selects which cards, if any, the player wishes to hold. The computer controls then calculate the expected value of the hand as played by the player (player TEVi). The difference between the highest TEVi and the player TEVi is also calculated (highest TEVi—player TEVi). This difference is multiplied by the amount of the player's wager and the resultant amount is the error made by the player. The error is accumulated over one or more rounds of play and the accumulated error amount may be returned to the player in a variety of ways, either directly or indirectly.

  • Patent number: 6340331
Abstract: A cashless peripheral device connecting to a gaming system. The gaming system issues a “cash-out” signal when a player quits playing and receives a “cash-in” signal when a player desires to play a game in the gaming system. A stack of continuous unprinted tickets is stored in the interior of the device. A ticket printer prints a coded value, such as a bar code, on a ticket in response to a cash-out signal from the gaming system. A ticket reader reads the amount printed on the ticket. If the printed value corresponds to the value which should have been printed, a ticket-out transport delivers the printed ticket to the player cashing out from the gaming system. When a player inserts the printed ticket into the device a ticket-in transport senses the insertion and the ticket reader reads the coded value from the inserted printed ticket. The ticket reader issues a cash-in signal to the gaming system corresponding to the value read from the coded value on the inserted printed ticket.

  • Patent number: 6315291
Abstract: The invention allows two, three or more keno games to be played on the same keno ticket while at the same time allowing the results of the keno games to be blended together to provide new winning keno combinations to be available to the player. A keno ticket is provided with two or more, and preferably three, sections for each possible numbered spot. The player selects one or more numbered spots on the keno ticket. Twenty numbers are drawn corresponding to the first section of the keno ticket. Then the keno balls are re-mixed and another twenty numbers are drawn corresponding to the second section of the keno ticket. If more than two sections are provided on each keno ticket, the step of re-mixing the keno balls and drawing another twenty numbers corresponding to each additional section of the keno ticket is repeated. Each section game is treated separately to determine whether the player has a winning ticket.

  • Patent number: 6315290
Abstract: A keno game method includes initially randomly selecting a predetermined number of keno numbers after the player has selected two or more keno numbered spots that the player hopes to match. For each numbered spot matched or “Hit” by the player during the base game, an additional keno number is randomly selected during the extra ball portion of the game. In one version, the quantity of additional keno numbers to be drawn is determined by the amount of “Hits” during only the initial draw of keno numbers. In another version, the quantity of additional keno numbers to be drawn is cumulative from the “Hits” achieved over both the initial draw of keno numbers and during any additional draws. An award is made to the player for the total number of “Hits” achieved during the round of the game and based on the amount wagered by the player.

  • Patent number: 6311978
Abstract: A game of Twenty-One in which the player has the opportunity to play his first two cards multiple times. The player makes two or more wagers at the beginning of the hand. The player is dealt two cards which may be dealt two cards to each player, or one card to each player and one community card common to all players or two community cards common to each player. The player uses the first two cards as his first hand with his first wager and plays these two cards as he would in the conventional manner of play of Twenty-One. The player may Double Down, split pairs, take Insurance and/or Surrender. After the player has completed the play of his first hand, he uses his original two cards again as the first two cards of his second hand with his second wager. Again, the player plays his second hand as he would in the conventional manner of play of Twenty-One. If the player has made three or more wagers, the player repeats the play of each hand again using his first two cards with each additional wager.

  • Patent number: 6270407
Abstract: A player selects from a keno layout a group of numbered spots, preferably between two and ten numbered spots, which are designated as the player spots. Twenty keno numbers, such as numbered keno balls, are randomly selected from a total keno pool of eighty numbers. The selection of the twenty keno numbers is grouped into a number of partitions, such as four partitions of five keno numbers each. Each keno number selected that matches a player spot is considered a “hit” number. The player must achieve a minimum number of “hits” to receive an award. The amount of the player's award is based on the number of “hits” achieved and the number of cumulative partitions it takes for the player to achieve a winning number of “hits”. A pay table is provided that shows the winning match occurrences for each cumulative group of partitions and the player receives the highest award shown in the pay tables for a winning play.

  • Patent number: 6231442
Abstract: A slot machine is configured to have a main game comprising a video reel slot arrangement with at least five reels and at least nine paylines and a secondary event selection game comprising a selection game. Whenever the player achieves a combination of symbols on the main game that awards the player with the opportunity to play the secondary event selection game, the number of chances provided to the player to play the secondary event game is based on the number of paylines that the player has played on the main game or by the number of credits wagered on each payline. Alternatively, the number of selections awarded to the player on the secondary event game can be determined by the symbol combinations achieved by the player on the main game. All selections by the player in the secondary event selection game can be winning selections or, alternatively, the selections in the secondary event selection game can be either winning or losing selections.

  • Patent number: 6220959
Abstract: An electronic video gaming machine is programmed to play a multi-hand video poker game which initially displays to the player a five-by-five matrix of twenty-five cards. This five-by-five matrix generates twelve five card hands—the five horizontal rows, the five vertical columns and the two diagonals. The player makes a wager of fifty credits which makes the player eligible for all twelve hands, with five credits applied to each hand, in effect given the player two free hands at five credits each. Five separate decks of playing cards are used with the five cards in each horizontal row being dealt from a separate deck of cards. The player may select one card from each horizontal row to be held and the selected card is also duplicated into an adjacent row location in that row. Replacement cards for the discarded cards are dealt into each horizontal row. Each of the twelve different five card hands are analyzed to determine its poker hand ranking and winning hands are paid in accordance with a pay table.

  • Patent number: 6132311
Abstract: The player makes one wager to play two or more, an preferably five hands, of five cards each against a pay table and the player attempts to make the highest ranking five card poker hand in each hand. Using a standard deck of fifty-two playing cards, two cards are dealt face up and are the community cards that are common to each hand. The remaining three cards for each hand are dealt face down. The player may discard none, one or both of the face up community cards and receives replacement cards for the discarded cards, if any. The player may double his wager before or after the draw step. When the draw step is completed and the player has doubled his wager or not, the player presses the deal button and the remaining three face down cards are revealed. • Patent number: 6129357
Abstract: The player wagers on one or multiple hands that the player wishes to play. Using a separate deck of standard playing cards for each hand (which may include wild cards or Jokers used as wild cards), three cards are dealt face up to each of the player hands. Using the deck of playing cards that corresponds to that hand, two cards are then dealt--one face up and one face down--to be used as cards that can be selected by the player for use in the player's hand. The player selects either the face up card or the face down card. The selected card is added to the player's hand as the fourth card and is displayed face up. The unselected card is then discarded. Two more cards are dealt, again using the deck of playing cards that corresponds to that hand, one card face up and one card face down. The player again selects either the face up card or the face down card. The selected card is added to the player's hand as the fifth card and is displayed face up with the unselected card being discarded.

  • Patent number: 6120378
Abstract: A player makes a wager for each pay line on a slot machine that the player wishes to play. On a first pay line of the slot machine, a first row of symbols is displayed to the player. The player selects none, one or more of the symbols from the first pay line as symbols to be held. The symbols that are held are duplicated from the first pay line into all of the other pay lines on which the player has wagered. Replacement symbols for the non-selected symbols are then randomly displayed on the first pay line for the symbols that were discarded. Additional symbols are also randomly displayed into all of the other pay lines wagered on by the player so that each pay line has the required number of symbols. The ranking of each pay line is determined by comparing the results of the displayed symbols to a pay table. The player is then paid for any winning pay lines based on the pay table and the amount of the player's wager.

  • Patent number: 6102402
Abstract: Each player makes an initial ante wager and then each player and the dealer receive five cards face down. The player makes a "first" wager to see a sixth card and a "second" wager to see a seventh card. The sixth and seventh cards are each community cards used by each player and the dealer. Each player's hand is analyzed to see if the player has a qualifying hand of at least a pair of Deuces or better. If the player does not qualify, all wagers are lost by the player. If the player's hand does qualify, all cards of the dealer's hand are turned face up and each player's hand is compared to the dealer's hand using conventional poker hand ranking to determined whether the player's hand has a higher ranking five card poker hand than the dealer's hand. Each player also optionally may make a side bet wager to be eligible for special payouts, including a "bad beat" payout.
