The compounds of formula I are useful as antifungal agents. Processes for preparing the novel compounds are also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention relates to an improved process for the preparation of fungicidally active compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 individually are lower alkyl of from 1 to 4 carbons or halo-(lower alkyl) of from 1 to 4 carbons or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together with the carbon to which they are attached form a 3 to 7 membered cycloalkyl ring or lower alkyl-substituted cycloalkyl of from 4 to 9 carbons, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 individually are hydrogen or lower alkyl of from 1 to 4 carbons and X is methylene or oxygen, and salts of those compounds which are basic.The improved process comprises the reaction of a compound of the formula, ##STR2## wherein R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and X have the significance given hereinabove, with a compound which forms a carbonium ion of the formula ##STR3## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the significance as given hereinabove.

Abstract: An improved process for the determination of carcinoembryonic antigen in a sample of serum or plasma is disclosed. The improved process, in essence, comprises negating potentially interfering substances in the sample by diluting the sample with water and heating to a temperature below that which, at the ionic strength and pH of the sample, would cause coagulation of the proteins present and carrying out a radioimmunoassay for carcinoembryonic antigen on said sample.

Abstract: Novel N-substituted 7-amino-6-nitro-4-trifluoromethyl-1,3-benzodithiol-2-ones of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is --O-- or --S--, R is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, R.sub.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, and n is 2 or 3, processes for the production of these compounds, and compositions containing them for use in pest control, especially for controlling representatives of the order Acarina and insects that are parasites of plants and animals. The novel compounds are especially effective against phytophagous mites.
