Abstract: A method and composition for suppressing the immune response are disclosed which employ an immunosuppressing effective amount of certain substituted quinoline, naphthyridine and pyrido-pyrazine derivatives.
Abstract: The present invention relates to ophthalmological pharmaceutical compositions comprising (benzothiadiazine, benzamide and benzenesulfonyl)phenyl-substituted carboxyalkyl dipeptide compounds and to methods for using said composition in reducing intraocular pressure, e.g., in the treatment of glaucoma.

Abstract: In a substance such as a membrane, a cell or virus having at least one aperture of a diameter of about 10,000 Angstroms or less, a process for measuring and characterizing the diameter of the aperture, comprising:(a) contacting the substance with a solution of a plurality of dense star polymers;(b) passing through or into the aperture at least one dense star polymer having a molecular diameter of about equal to or less than the diameter of the aperture; and(c) calculating the diameter of the aperture from measurements of either those dense star polymers passing therethrough or thereinto the aperture, of those dense star polymers not passing therethrough or thereinto, or of the combined measurements of those dense star polymers passing therethrough or thereinto the aperture and those not passing therethrough or thereinto.
Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, 2,3,5,6-tetrachloropyridine is advantageously prepared by contacting pentachloropyridine in a solvent selected from the group consisting of alkylnitriles, water, alkylsulfoxides, tetramethylsulfone, C-1 to C-5 alcohols, alkyl carbonates and mixtures thereof, in the presence of an ammonium salt of an organic or inorganic acid with about 0.7 to about 1.1 g atoms of zinc per mole of pentachloropyridine.
Abstract: Composite materials useful as hard tissue prosthetics comprising synthetic biodegradable polymers and unsintered calcium phosphate biomaterials optionally porositized by pore-forming agents are described. The composite materials may be ground and blended with a compatible water soluble pore-forming agent and then molded to form dense, shaped objects which may be made porous by leaching out said water soluble pore-forming agent. The composites may be used as hard tissue prosthetics either alone or in conjunction with conventional prostheses.
Abstract: Teichomycin A.sub.2 is recovered from whole culture fermentation broth of Actinoplanes teichomyceticus sp. or any similar microorganism producing Teichomycin A.sub.2 by extracting the broth with a water miscible solvent, such as acetone, acetonitrile, dimethylsulfoxide, n-propanol, methyl ethyl ketone or mixtures thereof.
Abstract: Novel pyridyloxyphenoxyalkanoates, alkenoates, R-enantiomers and derivatives thereof possess herbicidal activity selectively in the presence of broadleaf crops with preemergent or postemergent applications.
Abstract: Novel aryloxyphenoxyalkanoates, alkenoates, R-enantiomers and derivatives thereof possess herbicidal activity selectively in the presence of broadleaf crops with preemergent or postemergent applications.
