  • Patent number: 6578786
Abstract: In a seat belt retractor, as the rotation of a pawl holder of a locking member in the webbing unwinding direction is stopped by a locking mechanism in emergency, a reel receives a force on a protrusion by impact load applied to the webbing with the inertia of an occupant. As the force is increased, the protrusion is plastically deformed. By this plastic deformation, the impact on the occupant can be greatly absorbed at first. After the protrusion is sheared, the reel tends to rotate in the webbing unwinding direction by the inertia of the occupant, so that the torsion bar is further twisted. Thus, the load can be variously set to effectively absorb kinetic energy of the occupant.

  • Patent number: 6575542
Abstract: A withdrawal mechanism is structured such that a first guiding projection and a second guiding projection provided at a holder member are slidably inserted into a first guiding groove and a second guiding groove having an inclined portion formed on a housing. When the second guiding projection is guided at the inclined portion of the second guiding groove, the holder member is rotated around the first guiding projection by a predetermined angle. Thus, the holder member is drawn from a front opening of the housing in a state rotated by a predetermined angle.

  • Patent number: 6576898
Abstract: In a mass spectrometer, electrode element plates forming a virtual rod electrode have predetermined shapes at rim portions thereof in an ion optical axis side, and the electrode element plates are held at portions away from the ion optical axis by a holder, to thereby form a virtual rod multipole ion lens unit. Also, apart from the ion lens unit, there is provided a terminal unit for applying predetermined voltages to the respective electrode element plates. In the ion lens unit, the electrode element plates to which the same potential is applied are respectively connected by immovable short lines to form the groups. One of the electrode element plates in each group is electrically connected to the terminal unit.

  • Patent number: 6577215
Abstract: In an instantaneous-tripping circuit breaker, a heater-mounted main bimetal, a shifter of a differential shifter mechanism, and an adjustment dial of a thermal overload/open-phase tripping device are removed from a standard circuit breaker equipped with a breaking section, an opening and closing mechanism section, a thermal overload/open-phase tripping device, and an electromagnetic instantaneous tripping device in a case. Instead, a trip coil of the instantaneous tripping device is connected to a main circuit via a connection conductor of a low resistance, a test-tripping part is mounted in place of the shifter of the differential shifter mechanism, and the adjustment dial is replaced with a dummy dial. Accordingly, the standard circuit breaker is changed to an instantaneous-breaking circuit breaker.

  • Patent number: 6572144
Abstract: An inflatable airbag for installation in front of a passenger compartment of a vehicle for protecting an occupant during an emergency includes a rearwardly directed surface positioned to be contacted by the occupant when expanded, an end located at a side opposite to the rearwardly directed surface and having a hole for receiving an inflation gas, and laterally spaced side surfaces extending between the rearwardly directed surface and the end and being oriented substantially vertically in the passenger compartment. Inwardly extending depressions are formed in a middle portion of each side surface of the airbag as viewed in a vertical direction. The depressions are located away from the rearwardly directed surface to restrict movement of the inflation gas inside the airbag when the occupant hits the inflated airbag.

  • Patent number: 6573496
Abstract: In a quadrupole mass spectrometer, a controlling portion controls a lens power source to temporarily change a voltage applied to an ion lens according to a timing for controlling a quadrupole power source, so that excessive ions do not pass through a quadrupole filter. Therefore, the excessive ions are diffused on the way to thereby prevent the excessive ions from reaching a detector. Thus, at the time of operation, a large quantity of ions, such as carrier gas molecular ions, unnecessary for the analysis is prevented from being introduced into the detector to deteriorate thereof.

  • Patent number: 6572141
Abstract: A stored gas inflator is formed by a pressure vessel including a gas port, a small chamber facing the gas port, and a main chamber situated adjacent to the small chamber and having a capacity larger than that of the small chamber. A high pressure gas is filled in the small chamber and the main chamber. A first partition closes the gas port, and a second partition separates the small chamber and the main chamber so that a burst pressure of the second partition is set to be lower than a stored gas pressure in the main chamber. A gas blasting initiator is mounted to the small chamber for applying burst pressure to at least one of the first and second partitions to allow the main chamber to eject the gas.
