  • Patent number: 5628499
Abstract: An active type of mounting device for mounting a power unit to a vehicle body includes a vibratory member which generates vibrations so as to damp external vibrations applied to the mounting device from the power unit. The resonance frequency of the vibratory member is regulated by varying of the supporting stiffness or flexibility of the vibratory member or by varying of a variable mass attached to the vibratory member to obtain a specific frequency within a frequency band of external vibrations according to engine speed and/or vehicle speed.

  • Patent number: 5629796
Abstract: A frame 2 for an image such as a picture 16 is formed from a microlens array. Such an array produces an apparent optical plane which is not coplanar with the real plane of the array. This produces the visual effect of the picture 16 being divorced from the frame 2 and an illusion of depth is created as between the frame 2 and the picture 16.

  • Patent number: 5629718
Abstract: A liquid crystal cell comprising a matrix of pixels defined by areas of overlap between members of first and second sets of orthogonal electrodes has its pixels selectively set to first and second states by addressing the pixels in rows. The pixels a given row are first set no a first state by applying an erase signal (12) to the corresponding row conductor simultaneously with applying bipolar data signals (8, 9) to all the column conductors. Selected pixels of the row are subsequently set to a second state by applying a strobe signal (10) to the row conductor simultaneously with applying a bipolar data signal(9) to the relevant column conductors, another bipolar data signal (8) being applied to the column conductors corresponding to non-selected pixels. The start of the strobe signal coincides with the start of the active central portion of the data signals but the strobe signal continues beyond the end of this portion, enabling the addressing rate to be increased. • Patent number: 5625618
Abstract: An optical recording medium has a track format with a track pitch smaller than a diffraction limit of a light spot so as to realize an increased capacity and a higher density. A guide groove for tracking purposes is formed along each of the concentrically or spirally formed tracks in a periodic intermittent pattern with respect to a circumferential direction of the optical recording medium. The intermittent patterns of the guide grooves adjoining each other with respect to a radial direction of the optical recording medium are displaced in phase from each other. A light spot of a diameter greater than the track width is projected onto the optical recording medium in rotation and the position of the light spot is servo-controlled in the track width direction in such a manner that a light quantity distribution with respect to the track width direction of a reflected or transmitted light of the light spot diffracted by the selected guide groove maintains its symmetry in the track width direction.

  • Patent number: 5623536
Abstract: An anonymous interactive telephone system for connecting a caller to a subscriber without divulging the identity or telephone number of either unless voluntarily revealed. The subscriber publishes an advertisement together with a telephone number of a system controller station. A subscriber reference number is embedded within the telephone number of the system controller station as a DID number. The subscriber also supplies information to the system controller station related to time periods during which calls may be directly forwarded to the subscriber or intercepted by the system controller. The system controller repeatedly accesses the central switching station or local switching station of the public telephone company to activate and de-activate the call forwarding function of the switching station for controlling call forwarding to the subscriber on the basis of the subscriber's published DID number.

  • Patent number: 5623431
Abstract: A segment of a given signal is aligned with a corresponding reference segment by passing the reference segment through a full-wave rectifier (8), an anti-alias filter (10) and a first sampler (9), and storing the result in a first register (19). The output of the first sampler (9) is moreover passed through a second anti-alias filter (12) and a second sampler (13) which samples at a lower rate, and the result is stored in a second register (21). The given signal is then subjected to the same process with the exception that the output signals of the first (9) and second (13) samplers are passed continuously through first (23) and second (25) shift registers respectively until a correlator (40) indicates at least a predetermined degree of correlation between the contents of the second register (21) and the second shift register (25). A sliding correlation is then performed between the contents of the first register (19) and the first shift register (23) to determine the position of the correlation peak.

  • Patent number: 5622321
Abstract: The invention relates to a mill classifier or sifter, particularly a roller mill classifier, which is suitable as a high-performance classifier for a roller pan mill or a roller mill, e.g. for an air-swept mill. In order to achieve in the case of a particularly simple construction a high flexibility and optimization of the classifying processes as a function of the particular needs, there is a combination of a static distributor formed from several adjustable guide blade rings and a ledge rotor as the dynamic classifier. In order to achieve a multiple classifying and in particular a reduction of the coarse material fraction prior to dynamic classifying, in the vicinity of the static distributor is provided a deflecting device in an area of the classifier cover, through which the disadvantageous effects of a 90.degree. deflection are largely avoided.
