Abstract: A system and method are provided for allowing users to verify the presence of personal items. RFID tags are attached to personal items, and the items are entered into a list. The user makes travel lists from the list of items. When traveling, the user queries the system to determine whether all personal items in the travel list are within range of the system. The system checks for the presence of the RFID tags associated with the items in the travel list. If any RFIDs are not present, the user is alerted. Optionally, the system updates the last known location of items whenever checking for the presence of personal items, so that if an item is not found the user can determine where the item was last known to have been.

Abstract: A fast and scalable pattern making engine is presented. The engine represents variations on a Shift-And method capable of matching patterns in data streams having high speed data rates. In one aspect of the invention high speed is achieved by accessing the pattern RAM in parallel. In another aspect, the input is likened to TDM and individual slots or channels are accessed separately. The two aspects can also be combined to provide a scalable and high speed pattern matching engine. The engine is adaptable to streams of known length or more complex expressions such as regular expressions with arbitrary length.

Abstract: The support for a drive motor of image-bearing rollers in amusement machines constitutes an assembly allowing for its removal with regard to a general support (8) fixed to the machine, constituted of a base (1) on which the motor (2) is fixed, which has lugs (7) projecting from the base which are coupled in necks (9) arranged for that purpose on the general support, in combination with a laminar portion (12) of said base which is housed in a groove (11) arranged in the general support, said base locking to the general support by means of a tilting side arm (13) hinged to the general support, which establishes an electric contact by means of a pin connecter (4) arranged on the respective side of the base of the motor for the feed thereof, the base having in the upper part a removable handle (5) coupled by locking on said base for its gripping and removal.
Abstract: A technique for detecting SPAM calls in VoIP networks and taking responsive actions to such calls is described. Detection is based on recognizing abnormalities in signaling message statistics. For example, a device that persistently sends many more call setup requests then it receives and at the same time constantly receives too many, or too few, call terminations in a statistically determined period of time is assumed to be a spam source. This criteria is based on the principle that a Spammer originates many calls, which are consistently terminated by the Spammer or by the recipient. Responsive actions to the detection of VoIP spam may include displaying a call text warning to the recipient, using special ring tone, automated voice mail answer, rejecting the call, etc. The invention addresses an issue that will become more problematic for VoIP networks and their subscribers in the future, and to which a solution has not been proposed in the prior art.
Abstract: Parallel binary searches on lengths using hash tables is described. The parallel search uses more than one search instance. The search instances probe in parallel mutually different contiguous ranges of a search area during each round of searches. After each round, a new search area is defined and one or more search instances are redeployed into the new search area. The search instance for a range of shorter lengths can be redirected to help those of the longer lengths. Due to the help from other search instances, some ranges can be made large without sacrificing the performance. The invention realizes faster address lookups even for longer address lengths.
Abstract: A metastability filtering circuit comprising: a sampling circuit for sampling a first clock signal with a second clock signal to produce a sampled first clock signal, the first clock signal being synchronous to an interface between first and second systems; an edge detection circuit coupled to the sampling circuit for receiving the sampled first clock signal and for producing a rate adapted first clock signal; a delay circuit coupled to the edge detection circuit for receiving the rate adapted first clock signal and for producing first and second clock enable signals, the second clock enable signal being a delayed version of the first clock enable signal; and, a shift register clocked by the second clock signal and having first and second sequential registers enabled by the first and second clock enable signals, respectively, for receiving an input signal from the first system at the first register and providing a filtered output signal to the second system from the second register, wherein the filtered outpu
Abstract: A distributed, multistage agent for monitoring, diagnosis and maintenance of network devices comprises an input/output interface for receiving input monitoring and diagnostic data relevant to operation of a first neighboring agent and transmitting output monitoring and diagnostic data relevant to operation of the host network device to a second neighboring agent. An agent process analyzes the input data and generates processed data characterizing operation of the host network device, using a local database which stores expected performance data on operation of said network device. The processed data is correlated with the expected data any error is signaled to the network operator. The agents may be designed as a multiple stage process, the stages being triggered by the data output by an earlier stage only when needed.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for analyzing the biological age of a subject. The method analyzes the biological age as it relates to a number of factors indicating levels of health, energy production and metabolism. The method may also be used to calculate a subject's biological age and treat the factors associated with biological age.
Abstract: 64/66b encoding (IEEE 802.3ae Standard for 10 Gigabit Ethernet) is based on a self-synchronous scrambler which inherently duplicates errors occurring in the transmission line. An error carryover indicator ECI vector is used to correct duplicated errors crossing the codeword boundary and entering into the next codeword. The ECI vector is updated for each codeword C(i) to provide the position of the erroneous bit(s) carried over to the next codeword C(i+1). The codeword C(i+1) is corrected by XOR-ing it with the ECI vector.
Abstract: A system for coupling a variety of circuit cards to a circuit board, each circuit card having a respective function, the system comprising: a sequence of connectors mounted on the circuit board, each connector in the sequence of connectors having a respective function; and, one or more connectors mounted on a circuit card for mating with respective ones of the sequence of connectors mounted on the circuit board to thereby couple the circuit card to the circuit board, the respective function of the circuit card determining which ones of the sequence of connectors mounted on the circuit board that the one or more connectors mounted on the circuit card mates with; whereby space on the circuit card opposite ones of the sequence of connectors mounted on the circuit board that the one or more connectors mounted on the circuit card do not mate with is available for mounting components.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus with flexible attachments for reducing drag on a vehicle having a generally planar rear surface. The use of flexible vane attachments allows the rear doors of the trailer to fully open and close effortlessly. The apparatus includes a pair of vanes, each vane having a leading edge and a trailing edge. A first flexible attachment member connects an upper end of each vane's leading edge to a side of said vehicle, while a second flexible attachment member connects a lower end of each leading edge to the vehicle side. At least one third flexible attachment member connects the trailing edge of each vane to the rear surface of the vehicle. Other additional cables may be needed for additional vane support depending on vane length and profile. The vanes redirect air flowing along the sides of the vehicle into a volume of low pressure air behind said rear surface.
Abstract: A method and system for controlling the descent of a moveable element pivotally attached to a rigid structure. The moveable element is pivotally attached to the rigid structure, and is then pivotally connected to a compressible strut, which is attached to a linkage pivotally connected to the rigid structure. The descent of the moveable element is pivotally controlled using a microcontroller and a motor attached to the linkage, and the control path for the linkage is selected based on a comparison of the angle between the linkage and the rigid structure and the angle between the moveable element and the rigid structure.
