Abstract: A device supporting the arm of a fisherman using a spinning-type fishing rod having a cylindrical rod handle providing a gripping area for the hand of the fisherman, comprising a cradle member supporting the upper forearm of the fisherman and a rod handle support member holding the fishing rod handle in alignment with the cradle member. The rod handle support member is positioned below and rotatably connected with the cradle member about a horizontal axis of rotation. The handle support member and the cradle member are each rotable about the horizontal axis to a plurality of positions in response to pressure applied to said cradle member and the rod handle support member. A clamp attached to the rod handle support member removably grips the rod handle to the handle support member.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for driving door installations as a function of the presence of person wherein the region of the door installation is continuously observed by at least one videocamera. According to the invention through the videocamera and/or suitable sensors, object motions within the space to be monitored are acquired with an analysis being carried out in conjunction with the video image of whether or not the moving object is a person. If this is the case, its location and/or direction of movement is determined and the door installation is driven as a function thereof. The videocamera is preferably disposed approximately diametrically opposite the door installation with its angle of view being directed as steeply as possible onto the region to be monitored. The videocamera is connected to an electronic image processing device.

Each vertical side frame support further includes at least a plurality of adjustable/extendible or telescoping struts; and the plurality of adjustable/extendible or telescoping struts forms a truss-like structure connectable to a vertical section for supporting the vertical and horizontal sections as a unitary soccer goal in a vertical upright position orthogonal to ground.
Abstract: A light source system in which light scattered inside a chamber (2) exits from a hole (3) to provide a light output from the system. The interior wall of the chamber (2) consists of a material which is very efficient at scattering incident light. Light emitted from a light source (1) undergoes at least one scattering event within the chamber (2) before escaping from the chamber (2) through the exit hole (3). Any geometrical attributes of the light from the source (1) are removed before the light exists from the chamber (2). The exit hole (3) can have a tube inside (4) and/or outside (5) the chamber (2) for collimating the light output. A mechanical shutter (7, 8) can be used as a simple dimmer mechanism for the light output from the system. The light source (1) can be positioned inside or outside the chamber (2).

Abstract: A pinch roller is rotatably provided around a roller shaft by way of a bearing member and abutted against a capstan roller by way of a magnetic tape to rotatively drive the capstan roller, thereby causing the magnetic tape to run. The bearing member has a groove portion formed on a longitudinal center portion of an outer periphery thereof so as to form flange portions abutting against an inner periphery of the roller member in both longitudinal sides of the groove portion. The diameter of portions of the inner periphery of the bearing member where oppose to the flange portions are enlarged than the diameter of a portion where opposes to the groove portion.
Abstract: An optical disc apparatus includes a turntable. The turntable is first rotated at a low speed in response to turning on of a reproduce switch on the disc apparatus, and the balancer is, in turn, brought to rest at an optimal position for low speed rotation. When the balancer comes to rest, automatic adjustment is effected. When the automatic adjustment is ended, the turntable is decelerated in rotation to release the balancer from resting. When the rotation speed of the turntable reaches a speed at which the balancer is released from resting, the balancer becomes movable relative to the turntable. Thereafter the turntable is brought into high speed rotation to move the balancer to rest at an optimal position for high speed rotation.
Abstract: A control system for transmission devices equipped with a high-efficiency coding scheme in a communication network which avoids degradation of the quality of an acoustic signal for transmission and permits an efficient transfer of the acoustic signal. The control system has a structure in which: information on a high-efficiency coding scheme used in the preceding transmission device is sent to the current exchange from the preceding one through the use of an out-band signaling system for transmitting and receiving a call control signal via a channel different from a speech channel; and based on the information sent to the current exchange, second-placed transmission devices connected to the current and following exchanges avoid effectively decoding/coding of the acoustic signal transferred thereto, or the use of these transmission devices is avoided.
Abstract: A plurality of layers having other resolution are coded in order to encode scalably shape information. A base layer having the lower resolution is coded and transmitted to a decoder, and an enhancement layer is coded by employing a scan interleaving method from the base layer. A scan order of vertical and horizontal scannings is decided according to a generation frequency of TSD (transitional sample data) and ESD (exceptional sample data) and the number of coding bits on the base layer, or a type of boundary lines on images. When the scan order is decided, additional information indicating the scan order is transmitted to the decoder. The base layer is also coded and transmitted to the decoder. In case that the scan order is decided according to the horizontal and vertical of the boundary lines on an image of the base layer, it is no need to transmit the additional information indicating the scan order on the received base layer and execute the decoding in the same order as the coded scan order.

Abstract: A fire detection device comprises a detection element to convert the infrared ray energy into the electric signal, a first extracting unit to extract the signal of a first prescribed frequency range including the flicker frequency of a fire from the output signal of the detection element, a second extracting unit to extract the signal of a second prescribed frequency range including no flicker frequency of a fire but including the frequency on the higher frequency side than that of the first prescribed frequency range from the output signal of the detection element, and a judging unit to judge a fire based on the output signal of the first extracting unit and the output signal of the second extracting unit. The fire detection device is capable of surely discriminating and detecting the flame from other infrared ray energy generation source. A band pass filter or the like need not be increased in number, and the increase in the product price can be prevented.
Abstract: A magnetic tape apparatus including a cradle movably disposed on a chassis and used for supporting a tape cassette, and a cassette loading mechanism for interlocking the cradle with a driving unit via a moving rod which is reciprocated by the driving unit. The cradle is slightly moved backward when the cradle in a forward standby state is loaded with the tape cassette and by moving the moving rod forward using the driving unit upon detection of the slight backward movement of the cradle, and the cradle is moved backward horizontally before being moved down, so that the tape cassette is set in a predetermined position on the chassis. The driving unit has a first pinion which is rotated forward and backward and a first rack integrally formed with the moving rod and made to engage with the first pinion.
Abstract: The present invention relates to electronics and especially to semiconductors. It is an improved embodiment of a luminescent diode, intended to increase the radiated power thereof. The device concerned is realized in the form of a securing device comprising a back plate and binding screws. The luminescent diode cover resembles a polyspherical lens with a cylindrical base having guide rods relative to the positionning openings provided in the back plate. The thickness of the back plate is equal to or larger than four thicknesses of light transmitter crystal. The crystal is fastened on the flat portion of the conical reflecting surface formed on the back plate. The depth of the conical surface exceeds two thicknesses of light transmitter crystal, and the resting area of the crystal has a diameter larger than the diagonal of its lower limit, but does not exceed the value of said diagonal by more than one and a half.

Abstract: A welding process in which fixture pipes 3 are resistance welded to opposite ends of a hollow stabilizer's suspension arm 1 for a vehicle and thereafter, these two parts are subjected to arc welding, but with a first step of the ends of the hollow stabilizer's suspension arm upset to form thick wall portions before resistance welding and arc welding are performed. The initial resistance welding retains the two parts in place for the arc welding step.
Abstract: A program-viewing inhibition device comprises a memory for storing inhibition level data indicative of a predetermined level of unsuitability rating of a broadcasting program, a control section for determining whether or not an input channel received is acceptable by comparing inhibition level data extracted from a broadcast signal of an received input channel with the inhibition level data read out of the memory, and for changing the input channel to another channel when it is judged that the input channel is unacceptable or to be rejected for its viewing. Accordingly, a manual operation to change the input channel to the substitute channel when the input channel is unacceptable for viewing can be eliminated.
Abstract: An adjustable safety utility knife includes an elongated ergonomically shaped handle formed of two elongate shell members each having a peripheral edge and an outer generally convex surface and an inner generally concave surface. The shell members are fastened at the peripheral edges along a vertical parting plane to form an elongated internal cavity. The handle defines a front end, a back end and an intermediate portion suitable for being gripped by a user and also defining top and bottom surfaces extending along opposite sides of the shell members along the peripheral edges. The handle has a slot-like aperture at the front end substantially aligned with the parting plane and dimensioned for passage of a flat cutting blade therethrough. A guide element within the elongated cavity guides the cutting blade between a first position for safely storing the blade fully inside the cavity and a second position for selectively extending the blade beyond the aperture to expose at least a portion thereof.
