Abstract: An adjustable safety utility knife includes an elongated ergonomically shaped handle formed of two elongate shell members each having a peripheral edge and an outer generally convex surface and an inner generally concave surface. The shell members are fastened at the peripheral edges along a vertical parting plane to form an elongated internal cavity. The handle defines a front end, a back end and an intermediate portion suitable for being gripped by a user and also defining top and bottom surfaces extending along opposite sides of the shell members along the peripheral edges. The handle has a slot-like aperture at the front end substantially aligned with the parting plane and dimensioned for passage of a flat cutting blade therethrough. A guide element within the elongated cavity guides the cutting blade between a first position for safely storing the blade fully inside the cavity and a second position for selectively extending the blade beyond the aperture to expose at least a portion thereof.

A fixed jaw is mounted at the distal end of the handle having an inner, contact surface for contacting the work piece, and a moveable jaw is pivotally mounted at the distal end of the handle having an inner, contact surface for contacting the work piece. A spring is mounted in the handle having a distal end in contact with the moveablejaw for biasing the moveable jaw toward the fixed jaw. A slidable button is mounted on the top edge of the handle, with a spring mounted between the slidable button and the top edge of the handle. A connector is provided having a distal end fixedly attached to the moveable jaw and a proximal end fixedly attached to the slidable button by a pin. In operation, the pin rides in the slot and fits in the groove.

Abstract: A disc playback device reproduces either a video disc or an audio disc which is loaded and includes a digest playback device for reproducing each track of the video disc for a predetermined time and a scan playback device for reproducing each track on the audio disc for a predetermined time. A special playback instructing device instructs the disc playback device to reproduce each track of the disc which is loaded, for a predetermined time, and a disc type judging device is used for judging the type of disc to be reproduced. A special playback control device operates such that when the special playback instructing device issues an instruction to play back, if the result of judgment by the disc type judging device shows a video disc, the special playback control device drives the digest playback device, and if the result of judgment by the disc type judging device shows an audio disc, the special playback control device drives the scan playback device.

The other end of the elongate member is formed with an engaging member or element for securing the elongate member on a lateral surface of the post in proximity to the seated user. In one form, the engaging members or elements are in the form of tapered bodies having a smaller apex at one end and gradually increasing in thickness with or without an indented, scalloped edge to facilitate and to secure insertion of the engaging member through an upper opening of a striker mounted on the lateral surface of the post.

In the disk device, upon receipt of a record command entered by a user, a CPU reads out a TDB of a track finally subjected to data recording, and judges whether or not a data recording method used for the data recording is a track-at-once recording method or a packet-writing recording method. When it is the packet-writing recording method, the CPU reads out the data located at a position precedent to a record start address by two frames, and judges whether or not the mode of the header is Ro1 (bit value=111). When it is any other than Ro1, the CPU judges that the disk rejects the recording of data thereonto, and outputs a message stating that the disk rejects the recording of data thereonto.

Abstract: A space capable of readily mounting wires having different diameters and reliably preventing displacement of the wires with a simple structure is provided. This spacer is provided with a mounting hole capable of mounting wires having different diameters, and a hook and a hook receiver are provided on opposite end surfaces of a substantially V-shaped release portion. Any wire is fixed by simply inserting the wire into the release portion for mounting the same on the mounting hole and thereafter hanging the hook on the hook receiver. Thus, wires having different diameters can be readily mounted and reliably prevented from displacement with a simple structure. The wires can be readily mounted and dismounted by the hook and the hook receiver.

In the apparatus, an operational amplifier included in a vertical IC receives a vertical ramp signal from a one-chip IC at the non-inversion input terminal. The presence of data in materials being processed relating to elements of “user's profile” is detected and these data are demonstrated in visual or audiovisual forms local structures, i.e. graphs reflecting a character of relationship of each independent sense fragment of materials being processed with the mentioned elements, are generated.

Abstract: A protective cover for a motor vehicle conventional floor mat comprising a removable fabric protectively enclosing the top side of the mat. An elastic strip integral with the inner rim of the cover removably engages the cover to the underside of the floor mat. The conventional floor mat has a mat irregular peripheral edge and the cover edge is custom fitted to the mat irregular peripheral edge. A cover shape-retaining element integral with the cover side edge keeps the conforming relationship of the cover side edge with the irregular peripheral edge of the floor mat. An elastic strip unitary with the cover inner rim allows the cover to be disengaged from the floor mat by stretching the elastic strip to a biased mode. The cover is preferably made of a polyester pile fabric that generally matches the fabric used in motor vehicles. A waterproof layer is preferably attached to the interior surface of the cover.
