Abstract: An improved utility bar includes an elongate shank which has a longitudinal axis, a prying hook at one end and a prying chisel at the other end. The prying hook has a tapered portion extending along a direction generally an angle &agr; with the longitudinal axis and a generally U-shaped portion integrally formed with the shank and the tapered portion. The tapered and U-shaped portions together form a prying footprint surface facing a direction away from the shank. The angle &agr; is selected to be greater than 90° and preferably selected within the range of 93°-110°. The prying footprint has a minimum transverse dimension which is substantially greater than the minimum cross sectional dimension of the shank.

Abstract: A compressor capable of reducing the number of components and simplifying a step of forming a connection hole is obtained. In this compressor, a connection hole of a casing is formed substantially flush with the outer surface of the casing without projecting from the outer surface of the casing. Thus, the connection hole is formed by only perforation with no requirement for burring or the like, whereby the step of forming the connection hole is simplified. In this compressor, a refrigerant flow pipe of an accumulator is inserted into a refrigerant suction port. Thus, no pump liner (connection pipe) is required for connecting the refrigerant flow pipe and the refrigerant suction port, and the number of components is reduced.
Abstract: An optical disc apparatus includes a turntable. The turntable is first rotated at a low speed in response to turning on of a reproduce switch on the disc apparatus, and the balancer is, in turn, brought to rest at an optimal position for low speed rotation. When the balancer comes to rest, automatic adjustment is effected. When the automatic adjustment is ended, the turntable is decelerated in rotation to release the balancer from resting. When the rotation speed of the turntable reaches a speed at which the balancer is released from resting, the balancer becomes movable relative to the turntable. Thereafter the turntable is brought into high speed rotation to move the balancer to rest at an optimal position for high speed rotation.
Abstract: A transformer arranged to be mounted on a subject, such as a printed circuit board or the like, such that the central axis of a winding thereof is positioned horizontally. The transformer includes a bobbin portion having flange portions which are formed perpendicular to the central axis and which have terminal portions disposed on the lower end portion thereof, wherein the terminal portions are connection terminal portions to the subject. That is, leading ends of the windings are connected to the nearest terminal portions for short distances.
Abstract: A detected information display system in a fire detecting system of the present invention which is equipped with detectors arranged in a warning area and a control panel and achieves a specified information display on a physical quantity detected by the detectors, includes a secondary conversion part to convert the physical quantity detected by the detector to the specified level, a conversion level storage part to store the converted level, an extraction part to extract the maximum level from the levels stored in the conversion level storage part, and a display part which is equipped with level display parts, and keeps the level display part corresponding to the converted level and the level display part corresponding to the maximum extracted level in a visually different condition from each other. The maximum detected physical quantity and the set value to indicate the abnormal level can be rapidly grasped, and the displays of a plurality of detectors can be displayed in an integrated and related manner.
Abstract: Disclosed is a printing apparatus comprising a driving roll, a supporting roll, an endless offset blanket stretched between the driving roll and the supporting roll, a plurality of plate cylinders for transferring inks having a plurality of different colors onto the endless offset blanket, a plurality of first impression drums arranged to have the endless offset blanket held between the first impression drums and the plate cylinders, ink supply means for supplying the inks of the plural colors to the plate cylinders, and a second impression drum positioned to push the supporting roll and to have a printing medium held between the supporting roll and the second impression drum, the inks of the plural colors transferred onto the endless offset blanket being printed on the printing medium in a single operation.
Abstract: An adjustable visor (40) having the means for adjustment built into the visor (40) enabling the wearer of the cap (44) to change the angle of the visor (40) to a multitude of positions by means of a hinge (20) without requiring detaching the visor (40) from the cap (44).
Abstract: Apparatus and method for manufacturing helically wound insulated conductors with filament fillers includes first and second payoff stations for paying off a plurality of insulated conductors and elongate filaments of filler materials. These cable components are guided from the payoff stations to a closing die, and are arranged in positions suitable for twisting into a cable by a double twist machine to form a cable of twisted insulated components forming radially outwardly facing helical interstices each of which is substantially filled with another one of the filaments of filler material. Differential or incremental lengths of filler material are metered upstream of the double twist machine to compensate for the differences in the radial distances of the insulated conductors and filaments of filler material on the center or cable of the axis.
Abstract: An optical disc apparatus includes a microcomputer. The microcomputer causes an optical disc to rotate at a normal speed or a speed of a predetermined number times higher than the normal speed, according to a data read request supplied from a host computer. A PLL is controlled by the microcomputer so that it outputs, by adjusting the frequency-dividing ratio of a variable frequency divider, a first clock for normal-speed reproduction, a second clock for reproduction at a speed of a predetermined number of times, a third clock intermediate between the first clock and the second clock. When the optical disc is accelerated from the normal speed up to the speed of the predetermined number of times, the third clock is used. When the optical disc approaches a desired speed, the second clock is used to read data.
Abstract: A take-up reel sensor measures a rotation cycle of a take-up reel of a loaded tape cassette in a take-up operation. A changing rate calculating section calculates a changing rate of the rotation cycle measured by the take-up reel sensor. A type discriminating section discriminates the tape cassette as a thick hub type or a thin hub type based on the rotation cycle measured by the take-up reel sensor, while it discriminates the tape cassette as the thin hub type or a VHS-C type based on the changing rate calculated by the changing rate calculating section. A system controller conducts a high speed take-up mode suitable for the type of the tape cassette discriminated by the type discriminating section. Accordingly, the take-up mode can be controlled by employing only the rotation cycle of the take-up reel.
Abstract: A failsafe weld-free method of joining tubular elements provides for connecting a first tubular element to a second tubular element. The assembly includes an insert, with screw threads, inside of the first tube, a connector fitting for mounting to the insert within the first tube by a screw, a second tube is secured to the connector fitting with a fastener through a transverse hole through both the second tube and the connector fitting. When the connector fitting is assembled to the first tubular section and the connecting screw is tightened, a structurally rigid connection is achieved. The second tubular section is positioned over the stepped outside diameter of the connector fitting, aligning the transverse holes. A fastener is installed through the transverse hole. The fastener that secures the connector fitting to the second tubular section is positioned to not allow the screw fastening the connector fitting to the first tubular section to disengage or loosen.
Abstract: A raw water purifying apparatus utilizing anaerobic microorganisms comprising a casing (1) and a carrier assembly (2). The casing (1) is a vertical type and comprises a body (3), a bottom wall (4) and a ceiling (5). At the upper portion of the casing an inflow port (6) of raw water is open and at the lower portion an outflow port (7) is located. The carrier assembly (2) is formed by piling plural carrier discs (8) of porous plastic material, such as polyethylene for rooting anaerobic microorganisms inclusively therein with each space (9) between every two carrier discs (8), so as not to overlap liquid passages (10) which are provided evenly all over each disc (8) through thereof with each other. The carrier assembly (2) is disposed in said casing (1) so s to prevent the direct leading of said inflow port (6) to said outflow port (7), and the raw water may be treated once or repeatedly.
