  • Patent number: 4745280
Abstract: An apparatus for accurately measuring laser beam intensity profiles so as to permit adjusting the oscillation mode of the laser to achieve good workability of the beam. The beam from a CO.sub.2 laser generator is attenuated and applied to an infrared sensor which produces an electrical analog signal representing the beam intensity. The sensed signal is amplified and applied via an A/D converter and an interface to a computer. The computer controls a scanner which scans successive scanning lines of the laser beam profile across the sensor. The computer also produces a visual image of the laser beam intensity profile from the sensor signal. An operator veiwing such image can make an accurate and convenient measurement of the laser beam intensity profile, thereby providing a basis for quantitative analysis in quality inspection of workpieces subjected to the laser beam.

  • Patent number: 4630793
Abstract: A baby bottle holder system that includes an elongated, flexible belt removably attached to a pair of arms extending from a child's seat such as a stroller or a high chair and a biasable loop member adapted to hold a baby bottle connected to the center portion of the belt. In the non-use position, the belt hangs downwards and the loop member is disposed below the horizontal plane of the pair of arms. In the use position, the child has pulled the bottle upwards to his mouth and the loop member is positioned above the plane of the arms. A unitary biasable belt and loop member or a biasable loop member attached to a flexible belt can be used. Removable attaching means such as snap-on connections are used to secure the belt to the arms of the seat.

  • Patent number: 4627582
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for comminuting waste material comprising two driven and meshing cutter blocks formed from knife disks provided with recesses running in a transverse direction that cut into the knife disk surface. The apparatus can destroy or shred waste material such as paper files with a back width of about 7 centimeters without having to remove in advance metal clamping devices typical for files and file folders. The recesses provide an inclined running saw tooth profile, which continues as a staggered, or angled, profile in the neighboring knife disk; and each disk is provided with a saw tooth profile having inclined tooth sides enclosing an acute angle of approximately 80 degrees. Each tooth also has a cutting side, which at the same time forms a sliding surface for the waste material. A groove trailing each set of recesses cuts the elongated strips into short strips on the outlet side of the cutter blocks.

  • Patent number: 4622031
Abstract: An indicator for indicating the in vivo delivery of a drug by the electrophoretic deposition of a medicament through or on a skin surface. The device includes layers forming a reservoir containing the drug, a battery layer superimposed on the reservoir, and a cover of electrically conductive material fully enclosing the layers and having a lip along its periphery to electro-conductively engage the skin surface and form an electrical circuit. An indicator, such as an LCD or an electrochemically phototropic material (ECM) is in the circuit during which closing of the circuit, the current causes delivery of the drug and activates the LCD or ECM so as to indicate delivery to the user.

  • Patent number: 4619407
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a shredding machine with high power for the comminution of multilayered paper, data carriers and the like with at least one drive motor and a stator winding, which upon overloading of the shredding machine automatically is switched to reverse. The operation of the machine is possible without fear of overloading the machine and the user has no need to nor temptation to grip with one's hand paper jammed into the shredding machine. The object of the invention is achieved by providing a second stator winding, which upon overloading of the shredding machine is initially connected in parallel to the one stator winding. Therefor, in case of overloading no switching into reverse occurs, but for a limited time of, for example, 10 seconds a second stator winding is connected in parallel to the first stator winding.

  • Patent number: 4618853
Abstract: A fire detector which outputs a change in physical phenomena caused by fire, such as a change in smoke density, in the form of analog voltage signal, by, for example, a photoelectric type sensor, an ionization type sensor, a thermal sensor, a gas sensor or the like, converts the output voltage into a pulse width corresponding to the voltage level by a voltage-pulse width converting circuit, counts quick clock pulses over the pulse width by a pulse counter, and transmits the count output from the pulse counter, in the form of digital signal, to a central signal station.

  • Patent number: 4615490
Abstract: A microfilm destructing apparatus with a case and with a feed shaft disposed at the case for feeding of one or possibly more film cards along a cutter plate to a rotating milling cutter, which disintegrates the film card into fine particles; and which a complete and interference free removal of the generated microfilm particles is assured. The exhaust shaft is connected near the output end of the milling cutter, and is also connected to a suction blower. An air stream passes through the air gap slot, which is formed between the milling cutter teeth and the tip of the cutter plate. A pressure air stream may be employed fed from the input side to the milling cutter or if a suction air stream is present, it functions at the output end of the milling cutter.

  • Patent number: 4616138
Abstract: An analog-type fire detector for detecting, in the form of an analog amount, a change in physical phenomena caused by occurrence of a fire, which intermittently detects a change in the ambient physical phenomena caused by occurrence of a fire, generates an analog signal corresponding to an amount of the change, converts the analog signal into a pulse signal of a duration corresponding to the level of the signal, generates periodically from a reference pulse generating means a reference pulse of a predetermined duration, detects by a discriminating means a difference in pulse durations between the output signal from the pulse duration converting means and the reference pulse, charges or discharges a capacitor corresponding to the difference detected, and hold-outputs for a predetermined period by a hold-outputs means a signal corresponding to a voltage across the capacitor at the time when the charging or discharging is stopped.

  • Patent number: 4605957
Abstract: A machine and method of picture reproduction wherein a picture on a first cylinder is scanned and the signals produced are color-corrected, digitalized, and fed into a memory. Then the stored values are read out from the memory at the same frequency as they were put in, and are converted to analog form and used to record a picture on a light-sensitive film mounted on a second cylinder. Magnification or reduction is provided by controlling the addresses of the read-out values so that some values are either read out several times, or skipped.
