  • Patent number: 6211533
Abstract: A TFT structure includes a variably doped contact layer system in order to reduce leakage current characteristics and increase mobility of the TFT. Such TFTs may be utilized in, for example, X-ray imagers or liquid crystal displays. In certain embodiments, the contact layer system is lightly doped adjacent a semiconductor or channel layer, and is more heavily doped adjacent the source/drain electrodes. The variation in doping density of the contact layer system may be performed in a step-like manner, gradually, continuously, or in any other suitable manner. In certain embodiments, the contact layer system may include a single layer which is deposited over an intrinsic semiconductor layer, with the amount of dopant gas being used during the deposition process being adjusted through the deposition of the single layer so as to cause the doping density to vary (increase or decrease) throughout the thickness of the system/layer.

  • Patent number: 6207719
Abstract: A continuous output system makes paper coating by combining an emulsifier with ASA particles having sizes in the low to sub-micron region. A turbine, pump, blender or other device exposes the ASA to a number of repeated episodes of high shear until the resulting ASA is in the form of particles having a mean average diameter in approximately the 1&mgr; range. A manifold provides the system piping in order to minimize the internal areas where ASA may build up. This manifold has a plurality of holes bored in a solid metal block so that each of the bores forms a short pipe which is only an inch or two in length in order to reduce the interior surface area of an ASA transport and conveyance system.

  • Patent number: 6208053
Abstract: A hysteresis slip clutch having an adjustable stall torque is provided. The clutch components include first and second rotors, with a housing at least partially enclosing the rotors. An annular permanent magnet is rigidly mounted on the first rotor and an annular hysteresis sleeve is rigidly mounted to the second rotor. The first and second rotors are mounted within the housing such that the magnet and hysteresis sleeve are concentrically located and axially aligned with one another within the housing. In this orientation, magnetic flux from the magnet penetrates the hysteresis sleeve and magnetic hysteresis developed within the hysteresis sleeve acts to oppose relative angular motion between the first and second rotors. The magnetic hysteresis establishes a torque by which angular motion of the first rotor is transferred to the second. A annular magnetic shunt is adjustably mounted to the housing.

  • Patent number: 6200184
Abstract: A bubble maker toy for producing a plurality of bubble streams from a liquid bubble solution. The bubble maker toy comprises a bubble wand and an electric fan. The bubble wand includes a plurality of bubble rings connected together by connection arms. The electric fan is configured for producing an airflow concentrated adjacent to the center of the bubble wand which forces the bubble streams outward from the center of the bubble wand and away from each other. The connection arms are arcuate in shape and connected to each other at approximately the center of the bubble wand causing the air flow produced by the electric fan to swirl in a rotating manner further forcing the bubble streams away from each other thus preventing the bubbles from sticking together or combining to form a cluster of bubbles.

  • Patent number: 6201268
Abstract: A charge-coupled device has a first P-type well layer which forms a charge transfer section and a second P-type well layer which forms a floating diffusion layer section and within which the first P-type well layer is formed. The second P-type well layer below the floating diffusion layer section has an impurity concentration lower than that of the first P-type well layer whereby a depletion layer formed therein by a PN-junction flares in the direction to the second P-type well layer. With this arrangement, it is made possible to reduce the floating diffusion capacitance and to maintain a large output voltage with respect to a signal electron charge.

  • Patent number: 6194231
Abstract: A method for monitoring a condition of a polishing pad used in a chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP) process to polish a semiconductor wafer is disclosed. The method uses a linear multi-dimensional scanning device arranged above the polishing pad in a radial direction to monitor the changes in profile of the surface of the polishing pad, and determines the condition of the polishing pad according to the profile information. When the change in profile of the surface of the polishing pad substantially exceeds a preset value, e.g. 2 mm, it is indicated that the polishing pad should be changed.

  • Patent number: 6190584
Abstract: A method of molding, from porous material, a low-density product having an impermeable surface. A mold is provided which has a cavity, the outline of which defines the outline of the product. The starting material is a flat sheet of plastic foam. The first step of the process, in some cases, is a pre-heating procedure, which softens the material. Then, from this sheet there is stamped a blank having substantially the outline of the desired product, which is then inserted into the mold cavity. The mold is then heated with the blank therein to form the blank permanently into the desired product, after which the mold is quenched in cold water with the product still inside. The product is subsequently removed from the mold and frozen. The result of this molding method is a low-density product having an impermeable surface integral with the foam interior which is suitable for receiving various types of brightly colored finished.
