Abstract: In this system parties have network access to a network secure communications gateway which stores the current encryption/decryption algorithms and keys for parties registered with the network secure communications gateway. For party A to send an encrypted message to party B, party A encrypts the message using party A's secret key and encryption algorithm, copies of which are stored at the network gateway Party A sends the encrypted message, addressed to party B, initially to the gateway. The gateway decrypts the message, using party A's secret key and algorithm, and then encrypts the decrypted message using party B's secret key and algorithm. Finally, the gateway forwards the re-encrypted message to party B, where B decodes it using B's secret key and algorithm. The secure communications gateway periodically changes client keys (or algorithms and keys) to provide additional system security.
Abstract: A voice-controlled wheelchair has a control system having a plurality of modes of operation in each of which only a limited number of commands for moving the wheelchair are executed. The commands are entered by a throat-engaging microphone, and backup commands are also recognized, including a command based on an excited utterance to stop the wheelchair. The control system is switchable by voice command between a first condition in which it executes other commands and a second condition in which it does not execute other commands.
Abstract: A method for integrating and displaying medical data in which a computer program links a flow sheet of a medical record to medical charts. The flow sheet has a standardized time scale in the rows and a group of data items in the columns. The program determines the position of a cursor in the flow sheet, and interpolates or erases data in cells of the flowsheet as appropriate. Each empty data cell between cells containing real data is interpolated according to a predetermined formula. The interpolation method can be one in which an average of the preceding cell and the subsequent cell are recalculated up to several hundred times. Another interpolation method involves the use of a gradient, row values and an intercept. The resulting medical charts are designed so that therapeutic data and clinical data are simultaneously displayed on the same chart with the same time scale. The system can be connected to a client server system of a computer network.

Abstract: A double seat valve has two serially arranged closure members that are movable with respect to each other, that prevent in the closed position of the valve fluids from overflowing from one part (1a) into another part (1b) of the valve housing and that delimit both in the closed and in the open position of the valve a leakage cavity (3). The valve rods (5a, 6a) for the closure members (5, 6) are concentrically arranged inside each other and unilaterally extend out of one part of the valve housing into the surroundings of the valve. The disclosed double seat valve satisfies the requirement for a leakage cavity that can not be drained, but also pressure-relieved in all imaginable operating conditions.
Abstract: A manually releasable coupling device for connecting an elongate operator chain (2) with a frame or main frame member of a window comprises a first coupling member (3) for connection with a free end of the operator chain (2) and a second coupling member (6-10) designed for mounting in or on the frame or main frame member. The first coupling member is a flat disc-shaped element (3) with a substantially keyhole-shaped recess 85), while the second coupling member comprises a shaft section (6) for mounting in a bore in the frame member or the main frame member in connection with a turning handle (7). The shaft section (6) has a local constriction (8) for releasable engagement with the keyhole-shaped recess (5) in the disc-shaped element (3).In order to allow manual closing of the window under surmounting of sealing pressure, the shaft section may be eccentric relative to the rotational axis of the turning handle.
Abstract: The operating device has an input shaft (20) which by one end is connected with a driving arrangement with a rotatable wheel (17) for receiving an endless cord (8), and which by the other end is coupled to an output shaft (14) which is connected in a rotationally locked manner with the screening arrangement. The input shaft (20) is connected with the output shaft (14) via a transmission shifting device, in particular a planet gear (21). Between the transmission shifting device and the output shaft, a mechanism is engaged for limitation of the transferred driving torque. This mechanism is constituted by a sliding clutch having a first coupling part (25) in connection with the transmission shifting device (21) and a second coupling part (26) in connection with the output shaft (14). The first coupling part (25) may have a toothed shaft (24)and the second coupling part (26) a slotted and toothed rim (27), or vice versa.
Abstract: A milli-mode system has a processor state unit (R-unit) with register space into which those system operating registers and control latches, which make up the processor architected state, are mapped. This processor state unit, which includes a processor state register array and associated controls, receives all state updates from the processor as data and register addresses.

Abstract: In a system for analyzing materials by near infrared analysis, a library of absorbance spectra from sample materials is stored in computer storage. The absorbance spectra of an unknown material is measured and is correlated with the library spectra to select those library spectra which most closely match the spectrum of the unknown material. The selected library spectra are used to determine, by least squares convergence, or by multiple regression, coefficients in equations relating measurable properties of the unknown material to absorbance measurements made on the unknown material.
Abstract: A MOSFET switched, redundant power supply has a back-to-back MOSFET switch connecting respectively each power supply to a single load. Each power supply has a positive and negative gate voltage source. In a specific N-channel MOSFET embodiment, the positive (i.e. on) bias is coupled to each switch via a radiation hardened, redundant analogue switch capable of being driven by, for example, a TTL or CMOS microprocessor signal. The negative (i.e. off) bias is coupled to each via a redundant diode pair. In addition, the gates of the back-to-back MOSFET switch for one power source are also connected to the negative bias of the other power source. In this way the MOSFET switch for a failed power supply will be maintained in an off state by the negative bias provided by the redundant supply.
Abstract: A fastener for holding panels together includes a grommet for engaging a first panel, a stud received in the grommet, and a receptacle for securement to a second panel, wherein the receptacle includes a body having an internally threaded bore, an externally threaded barrel member in engagement with the threads of the bore, curved slots in the barrel member for receiving a cross pin of the stud, and a mechanical arrangement for selectively locking the barrel member from movement relative to the body. The grommet can include diametrically opposed slots having open ends extending through an end of the grommet for receiving the cross pin of the stud. The mechanical arrangement can comprise slots on the barrel member and the receptacle body which are registrable with one another and a locking clip secured to the receptacle body, the locking clip comprising an annular portion biasing a fixing member into the registered slots.
Abstract: A chip disposal device used in a machine tool for continuously expelling chips produced from a cutting tool such as a drill to another place, while a work is being processed with the tool. In this device, a hooding means (13) is slidably provided relative to a work (w) for forming an air-tight space around a cutting tool (11) such as a drill which is mounted on a spindle (3) of the machine tool by means of a cutting tool mounting member, and an air suction pipe (15) is provided for sucking the air from the space inside the hood. In addition, an air hole (11a) is formed in the shaft of the cutting tool (11) in such a manner that it is open at the tip end of the cutting tool at one end and at the other end is caused to communicate with passageways (p1, p2) open to the atmospheric area. In this case, the air hole (11a) may be connected to a compressed air supply pipe (33) at the other end instead of being open to the atmospheric area.
Abstract: A special inillicode instruction "Load With Access Test" explicitly detects access exceptions for storage operands while retaining control in the current millicode routine to insure exceptions are handled correctly and with the right priority. The millicode Load With Access Test instruction operates similarly to the ESA/390 Load instruction except that access exception code is set, interrupts are blocked and the serialization is forced to purge the instruction pipeline and reset the pipeline control without redirection of the instruction stream.

Abstract: An article dispensing device including a cabinet defines a dispensing path viewable from outside the cabinet and a plurality of randomly operating elements for possibly diverting an article travelling along the path. A bonus article is dispensed if a primary article successfully negotiates the dispensing path without being diverted. The average rate of operation of the diverting device increases with each diverting device encountered by the article along the dispensing path. For each diverting device, the average rate of operation is greater when an article nears than at other times.
Abstract: The reduction valve (1) comprises an activating spindle (12;42) which by a control handle on a pivotable shaft (8) and an eccentric spigot (11) is displaceable for opening of a self-closing valve (4) in a gas container valve (3) for a bottle for liquified gas. A section (18;49) of the activating spindle or of the self-closing valve (4) is made from a material having a low yield temperature, such that heating thereof, for instance caused by fire, causes the material to yield, whereby the activating spindle (12;42) or the self-closing valve (4), respectively, is shortened under influence of the biasing force from the spring (6) of the valve (4), whereby the valve (4) closes.

Abstract: The gas container valve has a valve body (4) with a detachably mounted valve head (5) which by means of a valve spring (6) is pressed against a seat (3) of a bushing (7) screwed into the housing (2) of the gas container valve. The valve body has at its other end a second valve head (8) which when the bushing (7) is unscrewed is pressed against a second valve seat (9) of the valve housing 2 by the valve spring. Thereby, it becomes possible to replace/repair the first valve seat (3) and/or the first valve head (5), while the gas container valve is mounted on a gas container containing gas under pressure.
