Patent number: 4475573Abstract: A hot and cold mixing valve for connection to hot and cold water lines for feeding a shower head, bath tub or the like. Control is effected by upper and lower valve discs coupled to a stem and spaced axially from one another to provide a mixing space between them. An upper inlet opening terminates at the face of the upper disc while a lower inlet opening terminates at the face of the lower disc, the openings being in substantial alignment with one another. Each of the discs has an arcuate through-opening of tapering width so as to define a wide head and narrow tail subtending an arc of preferably 315.degree.. An outlet port is formed in the valve body in communication with a mixing space between the discs. The through-openings are oriented head opposite tail in complementary overlapping relation so that dead sectors on the discs are simultaneously alignable with the inlet openings to define the off position.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1983Date of Patent: October 9, 1984Assignee: Sterling Faucet Co.Inventor: Clarence B. Patent number: 4475459Abstract: An impression cylinder for a rotogravure press having a recessed sheet stock gripper mechanism with a swivelling mechanism that swivels the grippers within the cylinder contour by revolving the grippers around a theoretical axis on the cylinder contour. The swivelling is rigidly and precisely constrained along an arcuate path by a plurality of arcuate guides disposed along the axial length of the cylinder. The opening and closing of the grippers and the swivelling of the grippers into the cylinder contour are caused to occur in sequence synchronized to the cylinder rotation by cam followers on gripper shaft pivot arms cooperating with cam followers journaled to the gripper shaft that are spring pressed onto cam surfaces fixed to the machine frame at the ends of the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1981Date of Patent: October 9, 1984Assignee: M.A.N.-Roland Druckmaschinen AktiengesellschaftInventors: Johannes Wanke, Kurt Difflipp, Jurgen Ruh

Patent number: 4474111Abstract: A cleaning system for a printing press having a chamber for the cleaning liquid, a supply line with a valve for controlling the flow of liquid into the chamber and a nozzle connected to the chamber at a point above the bottom of the chamber and extending above the area to be cleaned. A siphon of inverted U-shape having an inlet extending to near the bottom of the chamber is positioned so that the outlet is below the inlet and above the area to be cleaned. The siphon is sufficiently shallow so that the siphon is completely filled when the cleaning liquid is being discharged through the nozzle, with the result that when the valve is closed the siphon serves both to lower promptly the level of liquid in the chamber and to cause a reverse flow of air through the nozzle, to inhibit dripping therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1982Date of Patent: October 2, 1984Assignee: M.A.N. - Roland Druckmaschinen AktiengesellschaftInventor: Max Holzhauser

Patent number: 4472010Abstract: A telephone set includes a coiled multi-conductor cable connected to an assembly such as a handset by a standard modular connector and an appliance is interposed in the connector to inhibit twisting of the cable. The appliance includes two parts which freely rotate relative to each other with one part receiving the male element of the connector and the other part being inserted into the female element of the connector so that, rather than the cable twisting, the parts of the appliance rotate relative to each other. The electrical connection between the conductors in the cable and conductors in the handset is maintained by cooperating contacts on the other part and on the female element and by wipers carried by one of the parts and engaging conductive rings on the other part.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1983Date of Patent: September 18, 1984Inventor: Nicholas G. Patent number: 4470384Abstract: A drive train for the distributor of a spark ignition internal combustion engine includes an engine camshaft having a hollow, a distributor shaft essentially parallel to the engine camshaft, and a coupling body disposed in the hollow of the engine camshaft. The coupling body is connected to the engine camshaft in such a manner that the coupling body will rotate along with the engine camshaft and can move relative to the engine camshaft in a radial direction. The coupling body is also connected to the distributor shaft in such a manner that the coupling body will rotate along with the distributor shaft and can move relative to the distributor shaft in a radial direction perpendicular to the direction of the radial movement of the coupling body relative to the engine camshaft. This connection of the distributor shaft to the engine camshaft causes them to rotate together and compensates for mis-alignment between the axes thereof.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 1982Date of Patent: September 11, 1984Assignee: Nissan Motor Company, LimitedInventor: Yasutoshi Umemura

Patent number: 4469213Abstract: An electronically controlled coin tester which positions a sample coin in a magnetic field then passes a test coin through a similar magnetic field to create a null in a detector coil sensing the fields. The output of a square wave oscillator is differentiated to generate a spiked signal for exciting the magnetic field. The presence of the test coin is detected by sensing the quality of the null and test coin is accepted in response to the duration of the null. Preferably, a capacitor is charged in the absence of the test coin and discharged in the presence of the test coin and the test coin is accepted in response to the amount of energy stored in the capacitor at the time the null is produced. In addition, a pendulum damper is provided for engaging the test coin prior to its entry into the magnetic field and variably retarding the test coin in response to the coin size.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1982Date of Patent: September 4, 1984Inventors: Raymond Nicholson, Donald O.
