  • Patent number: 4486106
Abstract: A rotary shelf assembly having a plurality of shelves mounted on a vertical post is disposed in a cabinet frame with upper and lower bearing elements supported at opposite ends of the post and coacting with vertically spaced bearing members which are secured to the cabinet frame to support the post for turning about its longitudinal axis. The assembly is adapted to be mounted in the corner of the cabinet frame and, to accommodate this, the shelves have perpendicular edges which generally align with the sides of the cabinet in one angular position of the post and which support a V-shaped door. To adjust the vertical position in the cabinet frame, the lower bearing element is on a slide in the lower end portion of the post and a manual actuator on the post moves a cam which cooperates with a cam follower on the slide to move the slide and hence the lower bearing member downwardly relative to the post.

  • Patent number: 4486018
Abstract: A puzzle assembly having a plurality of pieces which are identical and which interfit without interlocking are assembled in a recess of the base of a container and the container is closed by a cover hinged to the base. When the cover is closed, the puzzle pieces are disposed between top and bottom walls formed respectively on the cover and the base. The pieces are made of a resiliently yieldable material and their normal thickness is greater than the spacing between the walls when the cover is closed so that the pieces are clamped between the walls and are held against sliding even though only some of the pieces have been assembled. The puzzle has a design on both sides and the top and bottom walls are transparent so that both designs may be viewed with the cover closed.

  • Patent number: 4484522
Abstract: An automatic register adjustment system for a multicolor printing machine has a computer for remote control of register adjusting devices and computer drivable optical scanners traversably mounted for axial movement with respect to the cooperating plate cylinders so that the axial and peripheral coordinates of register marks engraved on the printing plates are determinable. Before printing starts, the printing plates are automatically adjusted for precise register with respect to each other. The register marks may be placed at any desired position on the printing plates and the reference coordinates are freely programmable since the optical scanners can approach any desired point on the printing plate. The scanners, for example, are reciprocated in synchronism with plate cylinder rotation at a speed generally proportional to the rotational speed of the printing machine so that the axial and peripheral coordinates of the register marks are simultaneously sensed.

  • Patent number: 4481971
Abstract: A cartridge type regulator and shut-off valve assembly for a water cooler includes a hollow cylindrical body received in a mating bore in a casting which is part of the cooler. The cartridge includes a hollow cylindrical body which, at its inner end, is formed with an inlet passage and an outlet passage connected to each other by a valve-controlled opening in the inlet passage. This opening faces axially inwardly of the body while the valve faces outwardly and is carried by an axially movable stem. A manual actuator is depressed to slide the valve stem inwardly and move the valve away from the opening and the valve is returned by a spring to the closing position when the actuator is released. The valve-controlled opening, as well as a part of the inlet passage, is formed in a bar which extends diametrically across the inside of the body and is an integral part of the latter so that the opening does not shift or creep even if the parts are made of molded plastic.

  • Patent number: 4480441
Abstract: A vertical ice cube mold chilled by a refrigeration system has a water stream pumped into its open vertical face to build up ice cubes in the mold. A probe hangs over the open mold face at an adjustable spacing. When the mold fills with ice and the water stream contacts the probe, an electrical circuit is completed to cause a control to stop the water pump and heat the mold, thus harvesting the ice cubes. A timer restarts the icemaking cycle in case ice is not delivered for some reason. Casual water contact with the probe is prevented from tripping the control through the use of a simple integrator device.

  • Patent number: 4479815
Abstract: A pneumatic controller is provided for a two-bed adsorbent fractionator, particularly a heaterless dessicant dryer, having pneumatically controlled inlet and exhaust flow valves and, optionally, a repressurization valve. The flow valves are controlled by a schedule of pneumatic pilot signals generated by the controller from a source of pressurized gas, e.g., gas tapped from and at the line pressure of the outlet of the fractionater. Control valves within the controller selectively apply the full pressure from the source as pilot signals to the flow valves of the fractionater. A variable regulated pressure is utilized to control these control valves according to a schedule established by the time periods to fill two timing volumes through variable orifices.

  • Patent number: 4477109
Abstract: A connector for coupling a hose to a faucet or the like includes two molded plastic members which are coupled together by a bayonet-type connection. One member carries a resilient seal which has an annular lip inclined radially inwardly and axially toward an axially facing annular sealing surface on the other member. When the members are coupled, the lip flattens against the sealing surface to form a seal between the members and, in this condition of the parts, the resiliency of the lip also produces a force which keeps the bayonet-type connection in the locked position. When the members are being coupled while water is running through the member with the seal, an annular groove in the sealing surface causes water to backwash and clean the sealing side of the lip as well as the sealing surface itself.
