  • Patent number: 6792743
Abstract: Medical devices such as medical containers can be formed of glass and annealed which produces a clean device having a low bio-burden, or formed by plastic molding which produces a clean device. The clean devices are immediately transferred to a controlled environment such as a clean room or localized area to avoid the need to maintain cleanliness levels in an entire room. Syringe tip closures can be introduced into the housing assembly, where syringe barrels and tip closures are cleaned with filtered ionized air and the tip closures are coupled to the barrels. The syringe barrels can be filled with a substance and a closure member attached. While still in the housing assembly the syringe barrels can be formed into an array and placed in a clean outer container, which is then closed and sealed.

  • Patent number: 6722364
Abstract: A medicament delivery device for administering a medicament to a user includes a medicament reservoir and an entrance port and an exit port each disposed adjacent the reservoir. A gas chamber disposed adjacent the entrance port. The device includes a pressurizing mechanism operable to pressurize said gas chamber to at least a prescribed pressure. A first frangible membrane extends across the entrance port and separates the reservoir from the gas chamber. A second frangible membrane extends across the exit port. When the pressurizing mechanism is attached, at least one of the first and second membranes is responsive to the prescribed pressure in the gas chamber to burst to allow gas to flow through the entrance port and the reservoir and to carry the medicament through the exit port.

  • Patent number: 5967830
Abstract: A cover 20 is formed with an elastically deformable lock portion 27 which locks a corrugated protection tube 30 to restrict a loose displacement of the corrugated tube 30 along its longitudinal direction. The corrugated tube 30 is mounted as follows. First, the corrugated tube 30 is moved along its longitudinal direction with respect to the tubular cover 20 already mounted on the connector housing 10, and is inserted into the cover 20 from behind. Then, the lock portion 27 is elastically deformed, thereby permitting the insertion. When reaching a specified lock position, the corrugated tube 30 is locked by the lock portions 27, completing the mounting. Since the corrugated tube 30 needs not be positioned with respect to the lock portions 27 when being mounted, this connector has a better operability.

  • Patent number: 5962812
Abstract: To facilitate the processing of a shield layer of a shielded cable, an inner tubular member 20 is inserted between a braided wire 3 and an insulation coating 4 of a shielded cable 1. An outer tubular member 10 already mounted on the shielded wire and positioned in its standby position is fitted on the inner tubular member 20. Then, the braided wire 3 is fixed by being held between the inner and outer tubular members 20, 10. Since the outer tubular member 10 is made of a conductive resin material, when it is connected with a housing 27, the braided wire 3 and the housing 27 can be electrically connected.

  • Patent number: 5945635
Abstract: A retainer (A) aligns and retains ends (E) of branch wires (W1) and wires (W2) to be connected with the branch wires (W1) through the use of a wire retaining portion (U). The wire retaining portion (U) is formed with cavities (42) which have a specified depth and into which the wires (W1, W2) are individually inserted, and contact members (60) for coming into contact with the wires (W1, W2) inserted into the cavities (42). The contact members (60) prevent the wires (W1, W2) from coming out of the cavities (42). The contact members (60) also move away from the wires (W1, W2) when necessary. The ends (E) of the branch wires (W1) and the wires (W2) to be connected with the branch wires (W1) can be aligned and retained during a wire arranging operation. After forming a bundle of wires, the wires (W1, W2) can be released from the retainer (A) with their ends (E) aligned. The aligned ends (E) can be easily processed at one time. The number of the wires (W1, W2) to be retained can be easily confirmed.

  • Patent number: 5941911
Abstract: A prosthetic system is provided for secure mounting of a prosthetic component to a bone, and particularly to a bone that may be diseased, damaged or deteriorated. The prosthetic system includes a plurality of screws that are mounted to healthy bone stock. Each screw includes a threaded portion extending from one end and a non-threaded portion extending from the opposed end. The non-threaded portion includes a discontinuous surface configuration thereon. Ends of the screws are positioned to support the prosthetic component. The bone cement is then disposed between the prosthetic component and the bone and in surrounding relationship to portions of the screws that project from the bone. The cement surrounds and attaches to the protrusions on the screws so that the screws and the cement reinforce one another in response to loads imposed thereon during use of the prosthesis.
