  • Patent number: 5096699
Abstract: An anticalculus oral composition, which is preferably a toothpaste or a mouthrinse, includes an effective anticalculus azacycloalkane-2,2-diphosphonic acid or a salt thereof, preferably azacycloheptane-2,2-diphosphonic acid, and a polymeric polycarboxylate, which is preferably a linear copolymer of maleic anhydride and vinyl methyl ether of a molecular weight in the range of about 5,000-2,000,000, preferably about 30,000-1,500,000. The copolymer surprisingly increases the anticalculus effectiveness of the azacycloalkane-2,2-diphosphonic acid or salt thereof in such compositions, even at comparatively low concentrations of both such materials.

  • Patent number: 5080820
Abstract: Free flowing, zeolite-containing spray dried beads, useful for the manufacture of a particulate built syntyhetic nonionic organic detergent composition of reduced zeolite deposition characteristics due to the presence of bentonite and a low content of water soluble silicate or the absence of such silicate, include about 5 to 60% of water softening aluminosilicate (zeolite), about 2 to 40% of bentonite, about 5 to 60% of polyphosphate and up to about 5% of water soluble silicate. • Patent number: 5076954
Abstract: A stable microemulsion cleaning composition is described, which, in the absence of opacifying component, appears clear to the eye, and which is especially useful for cleaning surfaces having oily or greasy soils thereon, which comprises synthetic organic detergent, water, co-surfactant of the described type, and perfume, which is the only "solvent". The concentrated detergent composition may be employed as is, or may be easily diluted with water to form a similarly clear and stable microemulsion. In process aspects of the invention both the concentrated and the diluted compositions may be employed to remove oily and greasy stains from substrates, such as normally shiny bathroom fixture and floor and wall surfaces, including tiles, by a "spray and wipe" process, which leaves the surface shiny. When the invented compositions are acidic they are useful for removing lime scale and soap scum from hard surfaces. Also described are processed for manufacturing and diluting the invented compositions.

  • Patent number: 5057237
Abstract: The physical stability of liquid gel-like automatic dishwasher detergent compositions based on montmorillonite, attapulgite, hectorite or other inorganic colloid-forming clay or other thixotropic thickener is greatly improved by incorporating in the composition small amounts, such as 0.1 or 0.2 weight percent, of aluminum or zinc stearate or other polyvalent metal salt of long chain fatty acid. The aqueous compositions containing inorganic builder salts and other functional inorganic salts, chlorine bleach, bleach-stable detergent, thixotropic thickener and polyvalent metal salt of a fatty acid as a physical stabilizer remain stable against phase separation for periods in excess of six weeks under a wide range of temperatures. The thixotropic properties can be retained or improved using smaller levels of the clay thixotropic thickener than in the absence of the physical stabilizer.

  • Patent number: 5051250
Abstract: A fiber conditioning composition, especially useful for conditioning human hair on the head, includes a cationic surface active fiber conditioning agent, such as a hair conditioning quanternary ammonium halide, a normally solid and water insoluble poly-lower alkylene, such as polyethylene, and a hydrocarbon solubilizer for such poly-lower alkylene, such as mineral oil, which liquefies it and makes it water dispersible in the presence of the cationic surface active fiber conditioning agent and water, which composition is of a significantly increased fiber conditioning effect compared to control compositions containing the cationic surface active fiber conditioning agent alone. In a preferred form the fiber conditioning composition includes water and anionic synthetic organic detergent, and is a shampoo for human hair.
