  • Patent number: 7421022
Abstract: A continuous time electronic dispersion compensation architecture using feed forward equalization and a non-linear decision feedback equalization forms an output signal by a linear combination of successively delayed versions of the input signal and the sliced output signal weighted by appropriate coefficients. A selected number of taps in the mixer used to generate a corresponding number of coefficients for use in the feed forward equalizer are held to a selected voltage to ensure that the coefficients associated with these two taps do not drift. This causes the other coefficients to converge to a unique minimum square error value. In one embodiment the selected voltage is the maximum system voltage.

  • Patent number: 7418891
Abstract: The present invention relates to a spanner having a toggle bar installed in at least a jaw and allowed to be rotated in one direction for tightening or releasing a bolt (or nut) continually by continuous operation of rotating the spanner's lever in one and other converse directions repeatedly in a state of gripping the bolt, which is also easily operative for tightening or releasing a bolt (or nut), especially when placed in a narrow gap. The spanner is constructed to comprise a lever; a jaw and a second jaw respectively extending from both sides of the lead end of the lever and forming a gripping space therebetween for gripping a bolt; a toggle bar installed on the lead end of the second jaw to be allowed to be rotated only to the outward of the gripping space; and a tension adjustment bolt installed in the long hole formed on the bottom of the second jaw and having a lead end connected to the inner side of the toggle bar so as to elastically support the toggle bar to the inward of the gripping space.

  • Patent number: 7417612
Abstract: A gamma voltage generator for a liquid crystal display (LCD) capable of removing residual images by compensating a gamma voltage is presented. The gamma voltage generation apparatus adjusts the common voltage by the kickback voltage for the intermediate gray level, and tunes the gamma voltages other than the intermediate gray level gamma voltage. The adjustment of the gamma voltages other than the intermediate gray level gamma voltage is achieved in such a manner that the difference between the intermediate gray level kickback voltage and the kickback voltage at one of the gray levels other than the intermediate gray level is equal to half of the difference between the sum of the two inverted gamma voltages representing the intermediate gray level gamma voltages and the sum of the two inverted gamma voltages corresponding to the selected gray level.

  • Patent number: 7418066
Abstract: A multi-function device with a positioning function and a real time positioning engine is disclosed. The device contains also a shared processor used by the positioning function and other functions of the device, such as a mobile radio-communication function. The positioning engine performs in real time the most computational intensive calculations of the positioning function, such as downsampling, Doppler mixing and correlation calculations. Since the received signal need not be stored, the memory requirements of the positioning function are significantly reduced if aiding data is available.

  • Patent number: 7414940
Abstract: A calibration of a focus error signal gain in a focus servo system of an optical disk drive is presented. The focus error signal gain can be calibrated by oscillating an optical pick-up unit in a focus direction through a focus point and determining a focus sum threshold. The optical pick-up unit can then be oscillated around a focus control effort that results in a sum signal equal to the focus sum threshold and the peak-to-peak value of a focus error signal can be measured. The focus error signal gain can be determined from the peak-to-peak value of the focus error signal.

  • Patent number: 7411168
Abstract: In one aspect of the present invention, a light sensor is provided in the active pixel sensor cell for sensing incident radiation. The voltage corresponding to the photon-generated or other radiation-generated charge in the active pixel sensor cell is stored on a storage node via a sample-and-hold capacitor. Additional elements, such as source-follower transistors, may reside between the sensing element and the sample-and-hold capacitor. The signal is read via a readout source-follower (RSF) transistor. The readout source-follower drain is connected to the row select switch while its drain is connected to the output node on the column output bus. This configuration couples the storage node to the gate-source capacitance of the readout source-follower transistor. This allows the voltage on the storage node to increase proportionally to the increase in voltage on the readout node when the row select is closed and thus enables the drain current to flow through the RSF to the column output bus.
