  • Patent number: 5433464
Abstract: A kit capable of converting a hand truck to one which is brakeable. A set of brake shoes are provided within appropriately sized wheels which are actuatable by a cable connected to each cam follower. At the mid-point of the cable is located a lever releasably attached to the hand truck frame. By this arrangement, equal pressure is applied to each brake shoe simultaneously to avoid the hand truck pulling in one direction when the brakes are applied.

  • Patent number: 5404929
Abstract: A process for casting high oxygen affinity metals or metal alloys such as titanium through use of an induction furnace while preventing the pick up of contaminating gas by the metals or metal alloys during melting. An inert shielding gas such as nitrogen or argon or carbon dioxide is introduced as a liquid in a closed environment above the metal or metal alloys being melted such that there is preferably no more than approximately 1% contaminating gas in the gaseous environment proximate the surface of the molten metal or metal alloy. Simultaneously, the mold placed under the induction furnace is purged with a similar or different inert gas.

  • Patent number: 5378499
Abstract: A method for lapping of gun barrels on fully assembied firearms is provided using cartridges fitted with lapping bullets impregnated with abrasive. The present invention provides a process for simultaneously impregnating a quantity of lapping bullets with an abrasive, in which a quantity of unlubricated bullets are placed in a tumbler with steel balls and quantity of the desired abrasive. The speed of rotation of the tumbler, and the shape of the tumbler are selected so that the bullet/abrasive/tumbling media mix folds on itself, thus providing an even impregnation of abrasive on the bullets and minimizing any deformation of the bullets. The mixture is allowed to tumble for a period of time, typically about an hour, after which a sufficient quantity of the abrasive is firmly embedded on the surface of each bullet. The abrasive impregnated bullets can then be coated with a protective and lubricating finish, such as carnauba wax, if desired.
