Abstract: An aqueous dispersion of vermiculite lamellae is provided having incorporated therein from about 0.2 to about 10% by weight of at least one internal sizing agent based on the dry weight of the vermiculite in the dispersion.
Abstract: A cross-linked copolymer containing repeating units derived from a mixture comprising the following monomers: ##STR1## and occasionally other repeating units derived from other metathesis polymerizable cyclic compounds such as dicyclopentadiene, a process for producing the copolymer, a process for producing a molded article from the copolymer and a polymerizable composition therefor.
Abstract: A process for producing a molded article by introducing a reactive liquid mixture which comprises a cycloalkene containing dicyclopentadiene, a norbornene-type monomer containing at least one N-substituted 5-membered cyclic imide group and a metathesis polymerization catalyst system and which has moderated metathesis polymerizability into a mold in which the liquid mixture is metathesis polymerized, and a multi-part polymerizable composition for producing the molded article.
Abstract: A metathesis polymerized cycloolefin article may be improved by treating with halogen halide in an organic solvent. Degree of treatment can be regulated according to the swelling power of the solvent for the polymer. Improved properties include improved flame retardance, oxidation resistance and surface properties.
Abstract: Provided is a process for the production of shaped vermiculite articles having excellent resistance to water dispersibility from an aqueous dispersion of vermiculite lamellae having incorporated therein a cationic polyquaternary ammonium salt.
Abstract: It has been found that water stable articles, such as films and sheets, can be prepared from chemically delaminated vermiculite platelets if radical or ionically polymerizable organo-substituted onium salts are ionically bonded to the platelets and the resulting system cured.
Abstract: A novel and improved photocurable coating composition is provided which comprises a polyfunctional ethylenically unsaturated cellulosic polymer which is derived from the reaction product of (a) at least one cellulosic polymer having isocyanate reactive hydroxyl functionality, and (b) at least one hydroxyl reactive poly (alpha, beta ethylenically unsaturated) isocyanate.
Abstract: It has been found that water stable articles, such as films and sheets, can be prepared from chemically delaminated vermiculite platelets if radical or ionically polymerizable organo-substituted onium salts are ionically bonded to the platelets and the resulting system cured.
Abstract: The modification of thermoplastic polymers with a combination of azidosilanes and monolefinically unsaturated monomers and subsequent crosslinking by moisture.
Abstract: Disclosed is an improved process for producing dispersions of vermiculite ore particles by intercalating organo-cation salts into the vermiculite structure under shearing conditions to delaminate the ore and reduce particle size in one step.
Abstract: A process for the production of an aqueous dispersion of vermiculite ore particles comprising delaminating vermiculite ore by subjecting an aqueous slurry of the ore to a shearing action until a dispersion containing vermiculite lamellae having dimensions less than 200 microns is produced.
Abstract: Disclosed are copolymers of alpha methylstyrene and para methylstyrene having Ring & Ball softening points greater than 140.degree. C., a Tg of greater than 100.degree. C. to 110.degree. C., a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of less than 15,000, and a molecular weight distribution of about 2 to about 3. These copolymers are useful in adhesives, sealants and molding compounds, especially as reinforcing or modifier resins for thermoplastic block copolymers having aromatic and aliphatic blocks contained in pressure sensitive adhesives.
Abstract: Disclosed are dry film solder mask compositions containing a binder material that is the reaction product of: (a) a polymerized mixture of polypropyleneglycol monomethacrylate, methacrylic acid and, preferably, specific acrylates and methacrylates; and (b) isocyanatoethyl methacrylate. The masks are equal or superior to current dry film masks in affording protection to circuit boards.
