  • Patent number: 3962504
Abstract: Fired ceramic tiles having a rear surface which is provided with a series of fine ribs but is otherwise substantially planar are attachable to a wall or similar surface, without the need to apply a fixative to the surface, by reason of a plurality of bodies of adhesive material distributed over the rear surface of the tile body and projecting therefrom to a thickness of 0.75 to 1mm., the adhesive being a pressure-sensitive adhesive and being of such a nature that it will retain its coherent form both prior to and after mounting of the tile and will not flow or spread appreciably, each body of adhesive extending over a plurality of said ribs which are embedded therein, having a flat outer surface and being spaced from adjacent bodies of adhesive and from the edges of the tile body, and the adhesive material being protected by a peel-off film.

  • Patent number: 3959936
Abstract: At least two sections are arranged one behind another on a common integral substructure which is mounted on wheels, said sections being generally rectangular in plan and having vertical sides. Each of said sections is mounted on a pivot located in the central longitudinal plane of said common integral substructure, at least one of said pivots being longitudinally slidable in said substructure. Two sections are hinged together at one corner of each section, and are movable on their pivots, from a transport position in which they are longitudinally aligned with one another and with said substructure, to a transverse position of use in which a side of one section and a side of the other section, formerly in alignment, are folded together on said hinge.

  • Patent number: 3956627
Abstract: A light beam target for light beam shooting and apparatus employing it are disclosed. The light beam target has a light transparent target plate, stripe-like first and second X- and Y-axis photoelectric conversion elements and a compensating photoelectric conversion element disposed on the back of the target plate. When a light beam is projected onto the target plate, the first and second X- and Y-axis photoelectric conversion elements provide first and second X- and Y-axis electric signals corresponding to the position of the center of the light beam on the target plate. The apparatus using such light beam target has a circuit for producing X- and Y-axis light beam center indicating signals indicative of the position of the center of the light beam on the target plate based on the first and second X- and Y-axis electric signals and a device for displaying on an indicator plate the position of the center of the light beam on the target plate.

  • Patent number: 3955196
Abstract: A marine radar transmission and reception system in which first and second transmission pulse radar waves are emitted as first and second pulse radar waves from first and second radar antennae or a common radar antenna; reflected waves of the first and second emitted pulse radar waves are received as first and second received pulse radar waves by the first and second radar antennae or the common radar antenna; the modes of the first and second transmission pulse radar waves are selected in cooperation with those of the first and second radar antennae or that of the common radar antenna so that the first and second received pulse radar waves may be received by the first and second radar antennae or the common radar antenna independently of each other; a quotient or difference output corresponding to the quotient or difference of the first and second received pulse radar waves or the first and second received outputs based thereon is obtained; and sea clutter eliminated received pulse radar waves or outputs bas

  • Patent number: 3952384
Abstract: The invention provides a pipe jack for pulling a pipe lengthwise through the ground without the necessity of excavating the ground to create a trench first, the jack including a number of hydraulic rams coupled to a set of jaws, and the jaws being hydraulically displaceable to clamp a pipe disposed between them.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThis invention relates to pipe jacks, which are known devices for use in hauling pipes, cables and the like through the ground. By disconnecting a length of pipe or like at both ends, and then pulling the pipe lengthwise, the expense and labour of creating a trench, that is removing earth from above the pipe, can be avoided. In cases where the pipe runs below a surfaced road, pavement or the like, additional substantial costs in resurfacing are avoided. A new pipe may be installed in similar manner for example by attaching the same to the trailing end of the old pipe being removed, or by threading the new pipe into the orifice created by withdrawing the old pipe.
