  • Patent number: 4040185
Abstract: A substantially hemispherical bowl is provided with a handle. An inner boat-shaped receptacle, which has a generally V-shaped cross-section and tapers toward each of its ends, is supported by the bowl in a generally inverted position relative to the bowl, with one side of the boat-shaped receptacle generally conforming to and slightly spaced from the inner surface of the bowl at one side of the bowl. The space between said side of the boat-shaped receptacle and the inner surface of the bowl forms a pouring passage extending from an inlet slot between the edge of such receptacle and the inner surface of the bowl to a discharge slot between the edge of the bowl and the bottom of such receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4035139
Abstract: A chamber which forms a material inlet and an exhaust gas outlet at one end of a rotary kiln has an inclined bottom arranged to cause preheated fine material deposited thereon to slide by gravity into the end of the rotary kiln. A dense stream of fine granular material is deposited on such inclined surface, and fuel in finely divided form is introduced into the dense stream of material flowing down the inclined surface to cause the fuel to become intimately mixed with the material. Gas is discharged from the kiln in contact with the stream of material as such a velocity as to entrain a substantial proportion of such stream, the temperature and composition of the gas being such as to cause combustion of the fuel mixed with the entrained material.

  • Patent number: 4026410
Abstract: A plurality of parallel strands comprise chain links which are articulately connected together by grate pins that extend transversely over the entire width of the grate. Rod-like holding members are carried on the chain links and extend substantially parallel to the grate pins. Assemblies of individual support bars have upper edges higher than the chain links, each support bar having two recesses to receive two rod-like holding members. Each assembly of support bars extends substantially between the longitudinal centers of two chain links and is supported by a separate pair of rod-like holding members, for receiving material deposited on the travelling grate chain, and comprises slots for the passage of treatment gas. Each pair of rod-like holding members is interrupted at an intermediate point to provide a gap for insertion and removal of the support bars.

  • Patent number: 4018411
Abstract: A power feed chain has two chain bands and a plurality of connecting struts. The strut construction resists twisting, so as to hold the two chain bands parallel to one another and in longitudinal alignment. It is in the form of a lightweight but rigid grid, comprising two cross-ties consisting of strips of flat material arranged in parallel planes, and a plurality of spacers of flat material which extend between the cross-ties and are arranged in parallel planes that are perpendicular to the planes of the cross-ties. Each spacer has in each of its long sides a relatively deep notch which has parallel sides and which fits around one of the flat cross-ties, so that the spacers and cross-ties form a rigid torsion-resistant grid frame.

  • Patent number: 4010902
Abstract: The blow gun comprises a hollow body having an inlet for compressed air at one end of the body. A tube extending from the other end of the body has a closed end mounted to swivel in the body, and has a radial port leading from the interior to the exterior of the tube adjacent to the closed end of the tube. A cap carried by the closed end of the tube is radially spaced from the periphery of the tube and shrouds the port. A seal is located in the body, surrounding the tube, on which the cap normally seats to prevent air from entering the port, but from which one side of the cap can be separated by swinging the tube out of axial alignment with the body, to admit air to the port. A nozzle fixed on the outer end of the tube has a Venturi passage extending outward from the tube, the inner end of such passage being radially spaced from the tube and having ports arranged laterally of the tube which act as inlets when air is discharged through the nozzle and as outlets when the nozzle is obstructed.
