  • Patent number: 4096889
Abstract: A loom comprising two sheets of warp threads which are momentarily held in diverging planes to form a weaving shed with a conveying tunnel for wefts, a blowing nozzle arranged in position at one side of such shed to propel wefts through such shed by means of a fluid discharged from said nozzle, and a main tensioning device arranged in position at the other side of such shed, operating with a fluid jet, to tension inserted wefts during the beating up movement of the loom. The jet is so arranged that it issues substantially, transversely, and freely across the conveying tunnel to suck in the weft and is caught by a passage disposed in alignment with said jet. An auxiliary tensioning device is provided and is constructed similarly to the main tensioning device. The auxiliary device is disposed at the side of the main device. The main and auxiliary devices are used for normal and startup operations, respectively, and each has gas or air pressure supply means for normal or startup operation.

  • Patent number: 4090536
Abstract: A loom comprising a continuously operable weft yarn supply mechanism and an intermittently operable weft inserting mechanism. A tubular storage device is provided having a substantially constant shape in cross-section from one end to the other and storing weft yarn between said mechanisms, the stored yarn being in the shape of a loop having substantially parallel legs. The storage tube is in a substantially upright position and has a common entrance and exit at its lower end, said loop opening downwardly toward said lower storage device end. A suction nozzle is connected to the upper end of the storage device, and a blowing nozzle is adjacent said lower storage device end to propel weft yarn upwardly in a floating condition into the storage device, the suction nozzle helping to keep the weft yarn in such floating condition and sucking fluff away from the lower end of the storage device and discharging it.

  • Patent number: 4090000
Abstract: A technique is provided for employing an aqueous solution to treat a cellulosic or other substrate with a water-insoluble preservative such as a polychlorophenol and the like. The treatment solution is formed of water, a soluble polychlorophenate, and a suitable acid-former which, after a predetermined delay interval sufficient to allow adequate treatment with the polychlorophenate, progressively effects in in situ precipitation of the insoluble polychlorophenol on the substrate to be protected. The extent of the delay interval, as well as the extent of the precipitation time, may be regulated as a function of temperature, the excess alkalinity of the treatment solution, and the particular acid-former employed.

  • Patent number: 4088378
Abstract: A seat slide comprises a guide channel and a slide part which is attached to the seat and slides within the channel. To afford free sliding movement considerable play is provided between the slide part and the guide channel but to avoid rattle particularly when the seat is not occupied, resiliently deformable plastics pads are located in the clearance gaps between the channel and the slide part to take up the play. These plastics pads not only take up the play but also facilitate sliding movement in that they can be made of a material having a low coefficient of friction.

  • Patent number: 4049205
Abstract: A mill comprises a shaft mounted in a pair of bearings located at one end of the shaft, and a wall having an opening through which the shaft extends. A horizontal-flow container for the charge is removably mounted at one end in cantilever fashion upon one side of said wall and has a screened outlet at its other end. A tubular inlet housing is mounted on the other side of said wall, surrounding a portion of the shaft between said wall and said bearings, and has a seal through which the shaft enters the inlet housing. A feed screw is mounted on said portion of the shaft. Another portion of the shaft, extending within the container, is of greater diameter than said opening and is closely spaced from said wall to provide a narrow gap through which material passes from the inlet housing into the container. The shaft is hollow and has means for circulating a cooling fluid therethrough, and a shroud holds a cooling fluid in contact with the exterior of said seal.
