  • Patent number: 7160471
Abstract: A method for remediation of contaminants in soil and groundwater is disclosed. The method generates oxygen releasing solids in groundwater or soil by injecting an aqueous energetic oxidant solution containing free radicals, oxidative conditions can be created within or ahead of a contaminant plume. Some contaminants may be remediated directly by reaction with the free radicals. Additionally and more importantly, the free radicals create an oxidative condition whereby native or injected materials, especially metals, are converted to peroxides. These peroxides provide a long-term oxygen reservoir, releasing oxygen relatively slowly over time. The oxygen can enhance microbial metabolism to remediate contaminants, can react with contaminant metals either to form immobile precipitants or to mobilize other metals to permit remediation through leaching techniques. Various injection strategies for injecting the energetic oxidant solution are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7142098
Abstract: A means of wireless data transmission between a tractor and a trailer using a data transfer system having a first communication unit that is installed on the front of the trailer and a second communication unit that is installed on the rear of the tractor cab. Both communication units on a coupled tractor-trailer are located facing each other across a hitching space between the tractor and trailer to define a communication gap over which data is wirelessly transmitted. A notification device is carried by the tractor and operatively connected to the second communication unit. At least one data collector is carried by the trailer and operatively connected to the first communication unit. Accordingly, the driver is provided with information through the notification device from the data collector by way of the first and second communication unit, which wirelessly transmit the data between the tractor and trailer.

  • Patent number: 7131336
Abstract: A flow control unit having a housing with a valve chamber. The valve chamber has an inlet and an outlet. The inlet of the valve chamber is placed in communication with the process circuit. A valve member is carried within the valve chamber. The valve member has an open position for allowing flow from the inlet of the valve chamber to the outlet of the valve chamber, and a closed position for preventing flow through the valve chamber. A pressure cell is disposed adjacent the outlet of the valve chamber. A closed pressure circuit is defined from the valve inlet, the valve chamber, and the valve outlet. A pressure sensor is disposed in the pressure cell and traverses the circuit at the outlet for measuring the pressure of the process circuit communicated through the closed pressure circuit when the valve member is in the open position.
