  • Patent number: 6332428
Abstract: A water dispenser detachably connected to a joint on a trough for supplying water to domestic animals is provided. The water dispenser mainly includes a stopper having an upper sleeve portion screwed into the joint, a lower tubular portion being beveled to provide a curved cut, and a control opening located in the stopper between the sleeve and the tubular portions. A control rod having a flange provided near an upper end thereof is disposed in the stopper with the flange closing the control opening and a lower part of the control rod extended into the tubular portion to expose from the curved cut. A ring nut is screwed to the sleeve portion to confine a spring to the stopper between the ring nut and the flange of the control bar, so that the spring normally pushes the flange downward to tightly close the control opening and thereby stop water from flowing from a water pipe screwed into an upper end of the joint into the trough via the water dispenser.

  • Patent number: 6311652
Abstract: A method of repairing a cylinder head of a water cooled internal combustion engine that has damage to the boundary wall between a cooling water passage and the combustion chamber. According to the method, the boundary wall B located between a cooling water passage and a combustion chamber and including a crack is cut away from a cylinder head until the cut reaches a depth of one half the cross section of the cooling water passage. Then, a half-pipe portion, having a semicircular cross section that is equal in size to one-half the cross section of the cooling water passage is fixed in the cylinder head from which the boundary wall B has been removed such that an inner surface of the half-pipe may serve to form a cooling water passage after repair. With the use of the above method, the repair operation is completed easily with a low cost because the boundary wall B has only to be cut away to a shallow depth.

  • Patent number: 6301373
Abstract: A quality of a sheet material, such as unprinted paper, is determined by acquiring an image of the surface of the sheet material and analyzing the image to determine the intensity of local nonuniformity as a function of scale of formation. A meaningful interpretation of the sheet material quality is possible using the scale of formation. Correlations between sheet material qualities, such as cloudiness, cross-directional strength, etc., and the scale of formation allow for rapidly acquired images to provide useful indicators of sheet material quality. Normalizing the sheet material formation line with respect to a desired standard sheet allows for a useful graphical display of the sheet material quality.
