  • Patent number: 5297710
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for dividing a flat glass panel (14) are described. The panel (14) which is to be divided and which is raised away from its substrate is securely held in its part regions by two clamping devices (10, 12) which are pivoted in opposite directions about a common pivot axle (4) and thus exert on the panel (14) a bending resulting in breakage along the score line (30). Simultaneously exerted on the clamping devices (10) which are, moreover, arranged to be displaceable in the direction of their connection line is a force which presses the clamping devices apart and which at the moment of breakage of the glass panel results in the two part panels moving apart, so that the broken edges cannot strike against one another. The part panels can be deposited again on a substrate after breaking. The invention further provides for marginal strips to be broken off the panel (14) to be divided, in the raised state thereof directly before dividing.

  • Patent number: 5290116
Abstract: An ink flow control mechanism is provided to prevent ink leakage or excessive ink discharge of a writing instrument particularly utilizing a capillary stick for delivering ink from an ink reservoir to a writing tip. A porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane, which is permeable to moisture vapor and air molecules while performing hydrostatic resistance, is used to wrap a first portion of the capillary stick to prevent ink leakage to allow air to enter the ink reservoir to balance pressure drops. A foam is further used to wrap a second portion of the capillary stick. The ink flow rate can be adjusted by a selection of foams with different porosity density. The foam is in addition capable of absorbing an extra amount of ink flowing into the capillary stick to prevent leakage.

  • Patent number: 5286458
Abstract: The present invention relates to an injection noncatalyst denitrogen oxide process control system, in which a reducing agent (such as ammonia), carriers and additional gases are injected into the flue gas of a combustion device. The NO.sub.x in the flue gas will be reduced into nitrogen (N.sub.2) and water (H.sub.2 O). A pressure measurement device and a thermocouple device are installed in an injector for measuring the pressure difference and the temperature of the flue gas respectively, and then be converted into a voltage signal and a thermocouple signal respectively. Both of the signals will be transferred into a controller that is controlled by a computer. The controller can control the flow mass of the reducing agent, carriers and additional gases to the flue gas. Therefore, the reduction reaction of the NO.sub.x can be controlled, thereby maximizing the rate of denitrogen oxide (deNOx) and minimizing the discharge amount of the reducing agent.
