Abstract: An integrated process for the conversion of methanol to high octane gasoline and distillate. Methanol is converted to olefins in the presence of zeolite type catalyst. C.sub.4 and C.sub.5 olefin fraction is converted to MTBE and TAME in the presence of excess methanol and acid etherification catalyst. Unreacted methanol and hydrocarbons are passed to an olefins to gasoline and distillate oligomerization unit in conjunction with C.sub.3, C.sub.6 and C.sub.7 olefins from the methanol to olefins unit whereby distillate and LPG products are produced. Gasoline products from the oligomerization unit are passed to the etherification unit whereby an ether-rich gasoline fraction is separated.
Abstract: Oil recovery from a subterranean, oil-containing formation having relatively highly permeable and/or fractured zones and relatively low permeability zones is improved by first injecting a predetermined amount of a plugging agent into the formation, preferably inorganic, non-polymeric solids suspended in a fluid such as drilling muds or bentonite or clay suspensions, that plugs the face of the highly permeable and/or fractured zones of the formation. Thereafter, injection of the plugging agent is continued or in the alternative a displacing fluid at a flow rate and pressure sufficient to initiate and propagate new fractures and/or extensions of existing fractures in the formation. Thereafter, a displacing fluid is injected into the formation at a pressure sufficient to maintain the new fractures and/or extensions of existing fractures open and displace oil from zones communicating with the new fractures and/or extensions of existing fractures toward a production well where it is recovered.
Abstract: Disclosed are multifunctional additives for fuel and lubricant compositions. These additives are borated hydrocarbyl vicinal diols, made by reacting the diol with a boron-containing compound such as boric acid or trialkyl borate. These are useful in formulating lubricants and liquid hydrocarbon fuels.
Abstract: An improved process for forming improved gels where biopolymers and synthetic polymers are cross-linked with melamine/formaldehyde and other amino resins at an optimal range of ratios of amine to aldehyde in the amino resins. This optimal range of ratios can vary from about 1:6 to about 1:30 amine to aldehyde. Resins utilized in said optimal range are most effective for producing improved firm, stable gels. The resultant gels are useful in waterflooding and carbon dioxide flooding operations during the recovery of hydrocarboneaceous fluids.
Abstract: A process is provided for dewaxing hydrocarbon feedstock by isomerizing the waxy components of the feedstock over catalyst comprising a siliceous zeolite having been prepared by the method comprising providing a boron-containing zeolite Beta, treating the zeolite with silicon tetrachloride at a temperature and for a time sufficient to replace boron with silicon, and recovering the siliceous zeolite having reduced boron content but substantially preserved initial aluminum content.

Abstract: An improved two-step process for the conversion of lower molecular weight paraffins, the process comprising contacting in a first step a C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkane-rich feedstock with a siliceous zeolite catalyst in a primary fluidized bed reaction zone under high temperature dehydrogenation conditions to obtain an intermediate product comprising oligomerizable olefinic hydrocarbons and aromatics; and then contacting in a second step the intermediate product with a siliceous zeolite catalyst in a secondary fluidized bed reaction zone under low temperature oligomerization conditions to obtain a final product comprising gasoline boiling range aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
Abstract: Recovered formation fines are pumped in slurry form into an injection well during an enhanced oil recovery process e.g. a steam flood. Said injection can be done incrementally in stages in conjunction with said process. Said fines improve the sweep efficiency of the injected medium. This method is also beneficial where steam breakthrough has occurred since the breakthrough path is in a fluid or semi-solid state thereby allowing the fines slurry to be injected.
Abstract: A methanol-to-gasoline (MTG) catalytic conversion system in which the conversion is conducted in a fixed bed catalytic reactor. A C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 hydrocarbon diluent is generated from pressurized liquid effluent and recycled to the fixed bed reactor in order to dissipate the heat of reaction.

Abstract: A bag pack including a plurality of stacked bags each bag having loop handles which are integral extensions of the front and rear walls of the bag. Between the handles are a pair of superimposed single film tab members extending above the front and rear bag walls and above the open mouth portion of the bag. The front tab is coplanar with the front wall and either (1) completely unconnected thereto or (2) weakly connected thereto. The rear tab is coplanar with the rear wall and connected thereto through a localized line of film weakening which is comparatively stronger than (2) above. The individual bags may be bonded together through the tabs. The pack has suspension means in association therewith.

Abstract: A draw tape bag with two single draw tapes having a front wall and back wall of flexible sheet material joined to each other along edges of the bag. Tubular channels extend along opposed transverse top edges of the front and back walls. The channels define an open mouth for the bag. Each of the channels has openings at the opposite ends of the top edges of the bag. A pair of draw tapes extends through both of the channels. One end of each of the tapes is attached to opposite side edges of the bag beneath the openings in one of the channels and the other end of each of the tapes extends through the openings at the corresponding ends of the other of the channels so that the tapes cross each other in both channels and wrap around the mouth of the bag whereby when the tapes are pulled the mouth of the bag is drawn tightly together.

Abstract: A wastebasket includes a container having a top opening, and a lid mounted on the container and adapted to pivot about a pivot axis to cover and uncover the top opening. A mechanism for actuating pivotal movement of the lid with respect to the container is provided. The mechanism includes a generally horizontal operating lever having a foot pedal, a depending flange joined to the lid, and a rod linkage interconnecting the operating lever and the flange. The lid flange has an elongated slot formed through its thickness. The slot includes a channel and two enlargements situated at opposite ends of the channel. The rod linkage slides through the channel into one of the two enlargements, and engages the lid flange at either enlargement to pivot the lid between positions covering and uncovering the container.
Abstract: Hydrocarbons are produced from a subterranean reservoir by maintaining the effective reservoir pressure below the reservoir crushing pressure during a first production period, causing the effective reservoir pressure to exceed the reservoir crushing pressure after such first production period so as to crush the reservoir and reduce the reservoir permeability, and then producing hydrocarbons from the reservoir during a second production period in which hydrocarbon production is enhanced due to better sweep efficiency as a result of the lowered permeability of the reservoir.
