Abstract: A razor assembly is provided that includes a razor cartridge with one or more razor blades, a shaving aid body, a handle, and a linkage pivotally connected to the handle. The linkage is connected to the razor cartridge and the shaving aid body in a manner such that the razor cartridge and the shaving aid body are moveable relative to the handle. Movement of one of the razor cartridge or the shaving aid body in a first direction causes the other of the razor cartridge or the shaving aid body to move in a second direction substantially opposite the first direction. As a result, the positions of the shaving aid body and the razor cartridge are continuously adjusted to maintain the contact surface of the shaving aid body approximately co-planar with the cutting edges of the razor blades within the razor cartridge.
Abstract: Stabilized or partially stabilized zirconia paste may be screen printed onto hydrophilic plastic film in the form of a mesh. On firing, this becomes a very sharp foil for electric razors with excellent wear and flexibility characteristics. Stabilized or partially stabilized zirconia may also be screen printed onto a wettable plastic film then fired to produce low cost razor blades with an excellent edge. A curved razor blade incorporating an array of holes, each of which has a knife edge periphery, offers greater cutting power and control of the skin surface than a single or double edge.
Abstract: A sector drive mechanism includes an electromagnetic actuator including a rotor having four polarities, a C-shaped stator, and a current control portion that controls current applied to a first coil and a second coil, the C-shaped stator including a first magnetic pole magnetically excited by the first coil, a second magnetic pole magnetically excited by the second coil, and a third magnetic pole magnetically excited by the first coil and the second coil, and sectors that are connected to the electromagnetic actuator to open and close a shutter opening provided in a substrate. The first coil and the second coil are driven to close the shutter opening with a fewer number of pulses applied from the current control portion than the number of the pulses to open the shutter opening.
Abstract: In a centrifugal separator for separating a product to a heavy phase and a light phase. The centrifuge rotor encloses a separating space. An inlet channel permits feeding of the product to the separating space. A first outlet channel permits discharge of the heavy phase from the separating space. The second outlet channel permits discharge of the light phase from the separating space. The centrifuge rotor includes a first chamber for collecting the heavy phase, a heavy phase channel, for feeding the heavy phase, and a nozzle member between the heavy phase channel and the first chamber for controlled feeding. The first paring member extends outwardly in the first chamber from the first outlet channel for discharge of the heavy phase. The second paring member extends outwardly in the first chamber.

Abstract: In a centrifugal separator for cleaning gases generated by an internal combustion engine a housing defines an interior separation chamber. A centrifugal rotor is coupled for rotation to the housing and extends into the separation chamber. A drainage chamber is positioned adjacent the separation chamber and is delimited therefrom by a partition wall. A flow path is provided through which oil, separated from gases generated by the internal combustion engine and collecting on the partition wall, can travel from the separation chamber to the drainage chamber. A pump wheel is coupled to a shaft portion defined by the rotor and extends radially outwardly therefrom. During operation the oil, upon exiting the separation chamber, contacts the pump wheel. Centrifugal forces generated due to the rotation of the pump wheel cause the oil to be thrown into the drainage chamber. The pump wheel also minimizes the potential for oil resident in the drainage chamber to re-enter the separation chamber.
Abstract: A differential circuit including a differential amplifier circuit having a differential element provided in a signal input circuit, a constant current source connected to the differential element, and loads respectively connected to the differential element, and a source follower circuit that outputs a differential voltage based on voltage drops developing across the loads, includes a current supply circuit that supplies a given current to the loads connected in series with the differential element when the differential element is off.
Abstract: An aperture apparatus includes a substrate having a lens opening, a first aperture sector having a first aperture opening, a second aperture sector having a second aperture opening, and a drive pin that is engaged in cam openings respectively formed in the first aperture sector and in the second aperture sector and that swings the first aperture sector and the second aperture sector. The first aperture sector and the second aperture sector are located in receding positions from the lens opening, when the drive pin is in an initial position. The cam openings include a swing region and a non-swing region, the swing region guiding a corresponding sector to the lens opening as the drive pin moves from the initial position, the non-swing region retaining the other sector in the receding position, when one of the first aperture sector and the second aperture sector is guided to the lens opening.
Abstract: An engine lubrication system comprising a pump for supplying oil to an engine, a filter for purifying the oil and at least one sensor for discerning parameters of the engine lubrication system and generating signals indicative thereof. The engine lubrication system includes a controller operable to receive the signals generated by the sensors and to issue commands responsive thereto.
Abstract: A self-contained, or externally actuated, hydraulic log splitter which includes a frame on which is slidably mounted an assembly of a specially designed push plate secured at one end to a reversible hydraulic cylinder and at the other to a splitting table carrying logs which is pushed against a straight blade to split the logs. A plurality of lines of discrete nubs are integrally a part of the push plate along a majority of its entire height and positioned substantially parallel to the straight blade and spaced away from the edge of the push plate. These nubs to provide specialized and improved gripping of log segments as they are split thereby minimizing the tendency of the split log segments to fly away from the splitter. An electric or gas engine driving an hydraulic pump or the hydraulic system of a tractor is connected to drive the reversible hydraulic cylinder.
Abstract: A safety razor is provided comprising a razor cartridge mounted on pivoting connecting structure of a handle. The razor cartridge has four or more razor blades. The pivot axis of the razor cartridge is rearward of the midpoint of the cartridge width and below a plane tangent to the guard and cap structures of the housing of the razor cartridge.
