  • Patent number: 7072232
Abstract: The invention is directed to largely improve reliability by surely protecting data on the basis of an emergency stop request even during a data transfer process. The invention provides a data memory system taking the form of a memory card or the like. When an emergency stop signal requesting an emergency stop is received from an information processor of a host during a read/write data transfer process, a control circuit immediately stops the transfer process and notifies the information processor of end of the read data transfer. At this time, the end of read data transfer is notified irrespective of whether the transfer is finished normally or abnormally. Even when a read data transfer request is received again from the information processor after notifying the information processor of the end of read data transfer, without transferring data, a controller notifies the information processor of an untransferable state of read data.

  • Patent number: 7072224
Abstract: The number of rewrites for memory cells is to be increased, and the reliability of data reading to be substantially improved. Where data in memory cells are to be erased, the switching of an erase voltage to be applied to the control gate of each memory cell, while switching from one to another of voltages of any different levels, as the control gate voltage (=soft erase voltage) is accomplished according to the quantity of electric charges accumulated at the floating gate of each memory cell so as to keep substantially constant the voltage applied to the tunnel film of the memory cell. Upon acceptance of an erase command, a CPU supplies a control signal to a decoder, and on the basis of the resultant decode signal an erase voltage switching circuit generates a soft erase voltage of a certain level. After that, while switching from one to another of soft erase voltages differing in level, data in the memory cell are erased. Upon completion of erasing data in the memory cell, erase verification is carried out.

  • Patent number: 7068542
Abstract: Memory states of a multi-bit memory cell are demarcated by generating read reference signals having levels that constitute boundaries of the memory states. The read reference signals may be dependent upon the levels of programming reference signals used for controlling the programming of the memory cell. The memory cell can thus be programmed without reading out its memory state during the programming process, with programming margins being assured by the dependence of the read reference signals on the programming reference signals. Both sets of reference signals may be generated by reference cells which track variations in the operating characteristics of the memory cell with changes in conditions, such as temperature and system voltages, to enhance the reliability of memory programming and readout.

  • Patent number: 7066472
Abstract: A conductive seal that is formed on a first sealing surface by extruding an elastically curing material intermixed with conductive particles is in addition intermixed with magnetic particles. After applying the material to the first sealing surface, its cross section profile is expanded to an adjustable level towards a second sealing surface and/or sealing rims are molded to it by a magnetic force from an electromagnetic plate. The magnetic and conductive particles are preferably concentrated in the marginal sections, particularly due to magnetic forces that act on the sealing roving in the extrusion process.

  • Patent number: 7061812
Abstract: Disclosed is a memory card which ensures high-speed data writing operations. The memory card is formed of an erasable and programmable nonvolatile memory and a control circuit. A memory array of the nonvolatile memory has an erasing table including a first flag designating whether a memory area is a vacant area or not in every erasing unit. The control circuit exercises, when the number of memory areas in which the erasable data is written becomes a constant value, pre-erasing control to previously erase the erasable data over the memory area depending on the first flag indicating a vacant area. Since the erasing process is previously executed to the vacant memory area, necessity for insertion of the erasing process just before the writing process using the vacant memory area can be reduced and thereby writing data to the memory card can be highly speeded.

  • Patent number: 7061825
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit includes a memory circuit, an oscillator circuit which generates an internal clock signal, based on control information held in the memory circuit, and a logic circuit which generates control information that causes the frequency of the internal clock signal to coincide with the frequency of an external clock signal. The internal clock signal is used for a synchronous operation of an internal circuit. Even if an error (undesired variation) occurs in the oscillation characteristic of the oscillator circuit due to process variations, it is possible to cause an internal clock signal frequency to coincide with an external clock signal frequency corresponding to a target frequency without the need for external attachment of a crystal oscillator and the input of an external clock signal.
