Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided including a water-insoluble UV-A sunscreen agent having a ?max at 330-380 nm, a water-insoluble UV-B sunscreen agent having a ?max between 280 and 320 nm, and a water-soluble sunscreen agent having a ?max between 280 and 400 nm, in combination with a photo protective enhancing agent which is a stearyl alkanolamide of structure R1C(O)NR2—R3OH wherein R1 is a C17 radical, R2 is hydrogen or a C1-C6 radical, and R3 is a C2-C8 radical, in a cosmetically acceptable carrier.
Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes composite particles of a sunscreen agent and a condensation polymerized polyamide binder, a water-insoluble powdered polymer of porous particles having an Oil Absorbance (castor oil) Value ranging from about 90 to about 500 ml/100 gm, and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. The composition exhibits an excellent soft focus property to hide skin imperfections, and retains relatively high SPF photoprotection.
Abstract: A cosmetic composition and method is herein described for sunless tanning to impart a glow/shiny effect on skin. The composition includes a sunless tanning agent and coated beads incorporating tan colored pigment. A colorant which imparts a color other than tan to the beads is distributed within the coating. The cosmetic composition provides to the skin an immediate tan via the disintegrated beads. Sunless tanning agent acts more slowly and eventually will replace the pigment effect. The coating with colorant prevents the formula undesirably from appearing tan. Instead a color such as white renders the formula more aesthetically pleasing and more in line with the visuals paradigm of a moisturizer rather than a foundation.

Abstract: A personal care composition is provided which includes a fragrance component selected from the group consisting of hexyl acetate, dihydromyrcenol, phenyl ethyl alcohol, benzyl acetate and mixtures thereof, and from 1 to 30% of a C10-C24 fatty acid material by weight of the composition, wherein from 60 to 85% by weight of the fatty acid material is a salt and a remainder of the fatty acid material is a free fatty acid.
Abstract: A personal care product is provided which includes a composition containing dihydroxypropyltri(C1-C3 alkyl)ammonium salt in a carrier. The composition is packaged for delivery to a consumer and includes instructions printed on or associated with the packaging indicating topical use of the composition on skin, hair or the oral mucosae. Particularly useful is dihydroxypropyltrimonium chloride which operates as a humectant to moisturize both at high and low relative humidity environments.

Abstract: A flowable concentrated soap cleansing composition is provided which includes from 40 to 65% of C12-C18 fatty acid mixture in combined amount of salt and free acid forms, the mixture having C12-C14 chain length present in greater amount than C16-C18 chain length of fatty acid. Further, the composition includes 25 to 50% water, 1 to 15% of a first anti-crystallization agent, and 2 to 15% of a second anti-crystallization agent. The first anti-crystallization agent is sodium lauryl ether sulfate with a weight average ethoxylation of from 0.5 to 2 moles ethylene oxide per mole of sulfate. The second anti-crystallization agent is polypropylene glycol of weight average molecular weight ranging from 195 to 10,000. The composition has a viscosity ranging from 10 to 100 Pa*s at 20° C. as measured after 2 minutes at 10 rpm on a Brookfield Viscometer using Spindle RV 7.

Abstract: A liquid cleansing composition is provided which includes from 5 to 25% by weight of a fatty acids mixture and from 30 to 90% by weight of water, wherein the fatty acids mixture is present in a weight amount greater than a total of all surfactants other than soap present in the composition. Further, the fatty acids mixture is 70-95% of lauric and myristic fatty acids in a weight ratio from 9:1 to 1:2, and 5-30% C16-C20 fatty acid, all by weight of the fatty acids mixture. Still further, 60-90 mole % of the fatty acids mixture is neutralized into soap.
Abstract: A cosmetic composition is provided which includes a silicone elastomer, a cationic copolymer with monomeric units selected from at least an acryloylethyl tri(C1-C3 alkyl)ammonium salt, and light reflecting platelet shaped particles. The compositions are particularly useful to impart radiance as well as soft focus effects onto the skin. A particular useful cationic copolymer is that of acrylamide/acryloylethyl trimethylammonium chloride/tris(hydroxymethyl)acrylamidomethane copolymer.
