  • Patent number: 6359853
Abstract: A disk player has a magazine for storing disks and a disk transport mechanism transporting a selected disk between a playback position outside the magazine and a store position located entirely within the magazine. The carriages are stacked upon each other and pivotally supported within the magazine. The carriages are extracted from the stack by lifting a front end of a carriage above a selected carriage. Subsequent to the lifting of the carriage, the selected carriage is withdrawn from the magazine to the playback position. When a selected carriage is moved to the playback position, the disks on carriages above and below the selected carriage are prevented from shifting with the removal of the selected carriage by coaxial opposing shafts which extend through spindle holes in the disks on the carriages above and below the selected disk. A closeable gap between the two shafts permits the selected disk to be shifted.

  • Patent number: 6354880
Abstract: A CRT socket includes a focus side discharge electrode plate formed by a projection from a metallic plate. An elastic contact piece projects from a bottom edge of the metallic plate in a direction reverse to a projecting direction of an electrode portion. An attaching frame portion for nipping and fixing both sides of the focus side discharge electrode plate is formed in a side wall surrounding a discharge air gap chamber. When the focus side discharge electrode plate is attached to the attaching frame portion, the elastic contact piece makes elastic contact with an inside lead portion of the resistance element. Accordingly, the resistance element and the focus contact are connected to each other without requiring a separate connecting device for connecting the resistance element.

  • Patent number: 6354963
Abstract: A hollow golf club head provides for a longer flight distance, a larger “sweet spot”, and reduced veering in the flight path than a conventional golf club head. The golf club head has a maximum weight of 200 g, a volume in the range from 300 to 900 cc and a moment of inertia of at least 4·10 −4 kg·m2. The head is made from a fiber reinforced epoxy resin which provides at least 30 kg/mm2. Suitable reinforcing fibers include carbon fiber, fiberglass, aramid fiber and polyester fiber. Suitable resin materials include epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin and vinyl ester resin. The reinforcing fibers in the resin are arranged such that adjacent layers of reinforcing material are oriented perpendicular to one another. The perpendicular orientation of the fibers provide shock resistance to the head. A high elasticity and high density component, such as tungsten, is dispersed in the resin to provide reduced vibrations and improved acoustics to the head when impacting a ball.

  • Patent number: 6356259
Abstract: Two transparent conductive panels are separated by a perimeter of elastic adhesive that forms a sealed gap in which transparent insulative fluid is interposed. The fluid has a refraction index close to that of the panels to improve light transmittance through the device. The small width of the gap improves response time and prevents formation of a vacuum in the gap. The panels are connected to a position detection circuit that determines coordinate position of an applied pressure point. Spacers in the gap reduce the chance of accidental large-area contact which would result in an erroneous position command. The elasticity of the adhesive and the small gap width provide better temperature variation tolerance in addition to improved consistency and reliability of operation.

  • Patent number: 6354889
Abstract: A body plate receives a knob, retained in the body plate by a simplified terminal, to form a complete multiple-threaded terminal device. Each terminal firmly fixes into the body plate by locking into integrally formed stage portions. Each knob is retained by the snap-in terminal and preventative elements formed integrally in both the body plate and the rotating control. In a second embodiment, a body plate receives a knob and a terminal, each retained in the body plate by a rear cover, to form a complete multiple-threaded terminal device. Each rear cover firmly fixes into the body plate by locking in an integrally formed peripheral frame. Each knob is retained by the snap-in rear cover and preventative elements formed integrally with both the body plate and the rotating control.

  • Patent number: 6349489
Abstract: An arm body of a working machine has a hollow and triangular cross-section. A bucket-connection bracket is jointed to one longitudinal end of an arm body, and an arm cylinder bracket is jointed to another longitudinal end of the arm body, thereby forming an arm. With the triangular cross-sectional structure, the arm body is less prone to deformation under the stress of a load. The improved triangular cross-sectional structure permits the plate thickness of the arm body to be reduced, and the rigidity of the arm body to be increased without mounting a cross-section restraint material in the arm body. The cross-section of the boom will not deform even though the plate thickness is reduced. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the weight of the boom and still prevent deformation of the boom under heavy load.

  • Patent number: 6339262
Abstract: A switching power supply uses zero-current and zero-voltage switching to reduce switching noise. A main switch and an auxiliary switch channel current and voltage between various component paths to maintain a DC output voltage while switching at zero-current or zero-voltage states. Switch ON-OFF time ratios are controlled with a simple scheme to improve the circuit power factor. The switching rate is set to arbitrary frequencies, with switch ON time and OFF time being controlled independently. Losses in efficiency when driving a load substantially less than the rated load are avoided. The switches and control functions can be implemented on an integrated circuit.

  • Patent number: 6336244
Abstract: In an electric blower, exhaust air discharged radially from a centrifugal fan is redirected to a motor drive section by a diffuser and a fan cover. The air passes from a ventilation opening on a motor frame and through a bracket to cool the motor drive section. A portion of the air from the centrifugal fan is bled off through exhaust openings without passing over the motor, whereby this portion remains cooler and cleaner than the air that passes over the motor. Air flows up a wand and then passes over the motor to cool the motor. This air passes through filters before being discharged. The portion of air that is bled off passes along a parallel path in the wand to agitate dirt, and to maintain the wand relatively cool. In one embodiment, some of the bled-off portion is discharged directly without passing along the wand.

  • Patent number: 6334494
Abstract: A pressure leading path in a impact type tool is branched halfway through a bypass passage for connecting a high pressure chamber H with a low pressure chamber (L). The branch includes a first fixed aperture leading to the high pressure chamber (H). The branch also includes a second fixed aperture leading to the low pressure chamber (H). The pressure leading path is connected to a primary side of a relief valve. An automatic shutoff mechanism is operated by hydraulic operating fluid relieved from the secondary side of relief valve. The automatic shutoff mechanism cuts off the air supply to the air motor driving the tool, and thus automatically shuts off the tool, when the pressure in the pressure leading path exceeds a predetermined value. The present invention permits control of pulsed torque with high precision in a simple construction.

  • Patent number: 6331872
Abstract: A select/execute key (6) of a mobile unit (2) having a transmitter (1i) is operated to transmit signals including ID data, and the transmitted signals are received by a receiver (11). The ID data is ascertained by a transmitter identifying component (12), and the direction and distance to transmitter (1i) are determined by a direction/distance evaluation component (13), thus determining the location of the transmitter. When the location of transmitter (1i) has been ascertained, a camera controller component 17 selects camera (14l)˜(14n) or (14c) and controls its panning and tilting, thereby adjusting its angle of view and bringing it into focus. Camera (14l)˜(14n) or (14c) is operated to take pictures for approximately one minute after the signals from transmitter (1i) is received.
