  • Patent number: 6276966
Abstract: A shield plate inhibits high frequency noise generated by a circuit board from interfering with the operation of a jack connector. The jack and shield are mounted on a circuit board and the shield is connected to the shield plate and a common terminal of the jack. The shield plate is elastic and contains magnetic powder with a high flux density to interrupt high frequency noise coming from a direction of a circuit board. When mounted to a device chassis, the shield is connected to the chassis through resilient arms. The chassis, shield, shield plate and common terminal of the jack are all connected together and to a common ground. This configuration reduces incident noise received by the jack, without the need to modify the jack or circuit to optimize noise resistance.

  • Patent number: 6269694
Abstract: A sensor for detecting levels of fluids and particulate matter is based on differences in dielectric constants of the various materials. The difference is reflected in different capacitance across electrodes immersed to different depths in such materials. A square-wave clock pulse is input into circuit composed of the capacitance and a resister in series. The output voltage is fed into a logic unit (such as exclusive-OR), which converts the exponential decay of the voltage into a pulse of uniform height with duration proportional to the time constant (proportional to the capacitance) of the exponential decay. The pulse is optionally fed through a low-pass filter to give a signal proportional to the duration.

  • Patent number: 6262876
Abstract: A contact sleeve passing through a central region of a capacitor provides a low-inductance connection between a lower contact surface of a capacitor and a first outer port. The sleeve is separated from the windings of the capacitor by an insulative layer. A second outer port is formed in close proximity to and insulated from the first outer port so that arcing between the outer ports is prevented. The resulting capacitor has a low inductance and is useful in, for example, the intermediate circuit design of converters, resulting in a compact and reliable configuration.

  • Patent number: 6254430
Abstract: A connection part has at least two matingly interengaging contact pieces that electrically connect the central conductor of a coaxial cable without soldering or trimming. In the preferred embodiment, the connection part includes a bifurcated segment and another segment resiliently disposed between the bifurcated segment. A jig is inserted through an opening into the connection part, separating and pushing the segments apart, creating a space where the central conductor of a coaxial cable is inserted. The central conductor is pressed against a groove formed by an arcuate section of the connection part segments. When the jig is removed, the resilient action of the segments grip and bend the central conductor holding it firmly and electrically connecting it to the connection part. Bendable cover pieces close the opening. An insulative covering closes and protects the coaxial connector. Grounding arms are connected to the shielding conductor of the coaxial cable and project from slots in the insulative covering.

  • Patent number: 6241218
Abstract: A permeable saturation body absorbs a liquid chemical for evaporative dispersion. External air is forced through the saturation body to vaporize and carrying the liquid chemical into a prescribed area. The liquid container and permeable body are mounted on a permeable support structure. Excess liquid dripping from the permeable saturation body is recaptured and redistributed by another permeable saturation body located below the first permeable saturation body. The device can be used in greenhouses to disperse insecticide into the air or along the ground. The device is also adapted to disperse deodorant or a bactericide for use in hospitals or restaurants, for example. One embodiment of the invention provides for reversible air flow so that a user can choose between dispensing the liquid chemical in a low position, or in a high position.

  • Patent number: 6242752
Abstract: A translucent cover (9) is so provided as to cover a high pressure sodium lamp (11) adapted to radiate at least visible light and rays of light in the wavelength range of 300 nm to 400 nm. A photocatalytic film (13) which is capable of preventing generation of interference between visible light is formed on either one of or both the inner side and outer side of the translucent cover (9). The photocatalytic film (13) contains as the principal component titania (TiO2) of which the peak wavelength for visible light transmittance is nearly the same as the peak wavelength for visible light radiated from the high pressure sodium lamp (11). Ultraviolet light radiated from the high pressure sodium lamp (11) enhances oxidation and decomposition of substances performed by the photocatalytic film (13), thereby preventing grime and contaminants from adhering to the translucent cover (9).

  • Patent number: 6240624
Abstract: A dust collection electrode with catalyst to be provided on the electronic dust collector is manufactured simply at low cost without using a furnace. To the surface of the metal tube of the sheathed heater a low temperature curing type heat resistant inorganic adhesive is applied. Thereafter, a catalyst such as Zeolite is adhered to the heat-resistant inorganic adhesive. Next, the sheathed heater is energized to make self-heating, and using said heating, the heat-resistant inorganic adhesive is heated to cure, thereby fixing the layer to the surface of the metal tube.

  • Patent number: 6237870
Abstract: A cutting device and a wedge shaped separating member are used to cut a packaging material wrapped around an outer perimeter surface of a web roll. The separating member is inserted under the packaging material. A cutting blade is fixed above the separating member to provide for the cutting of the packaging material when the cutting device and separating member are moved along a lateral axis of the web roll. The cut packaging material is completely separated by a second cutting device. The separated packaging material is then rolled and compacted. The result is an automated device which saves time and labor when removing packaging material from a web roll.
