  • Patent number: 4516078
Abstract: A variable frequency passband circuit comprising two passband filters and three mixers (front, intermediate and output mixers) connected in a cascade fashion disposed in a signal path. Two VCOs inject frequency signals into the front mixer and the output mixer. The two VCOs are respectively controlled by control signals at two potentiometers through transfer switching means so that the synthetic passband of the filter may be varied. One potentiometer suppresses the higher frequency region of a baseband signal and the other potentiometer suppresses the lower frequency region of the base band signal, irrespective of USB or LSB receiving mode.

  • Patent number: 4511066
Abstract: Device in a container for bulk material including a main part with mainly vertical walls and a converging feed-out part. In the feed-out part (3) an upwards vault mantle (7) is placed, and the mantle having a large number of openings (9) distributed over its surface, the openings permitting bulk material to pass through. The vault mantle is arranged in such a way that it can carry out oscillating movements in the container, whereby tendencies of bridge building in the container may be avoided and at the same time it is secured that the bulk material will reach the feed-out opening (4) adjacent to the feed-out zone in loose form. The vault mantle may have different configurations, e.g. the form of a lying cylinder, half-cylinder, an upwards vault dome or the form of an upwards pointing cone. The vault bottom and specially when it has the form of a cone may also be provided with projecting parts, e.g. in form of a separate rotatable tube with feed-in openings for bulk material.

  • Patent number: 4508873
Abstract: Emulsions of hydrocarbon liquids such as automotive distillate and water, or water and alcohols, are formed using an emulsifier which is a block copolymer of ethylene oxide type monomers and styrene type monomers. The stability of the emulsions is improved by the addition to the emulsion of a coupling agent which is soluble in the continuous phase of the emulsion and will couple with that portion of the emulsifier which is solvated by the continuous phase of the emulsion. Preferred coupling agents for water in oil type emulsions are copolymers of butadiene and styrene.

  • Patent number: 4505010
Abstract: A spring clip particularly suitable for fixing a mud-flap to a motor vehicle has two legs interconnected by means of a base and is so formed that when relaxed the legs converge towards their free ends. A threaded bore is provided in one of the legs, in which may be threaded a screw to contact the other leg, such that the two legs may be thrust apart on further turning of the screw. The clip may then be fitted over a fender-fold against which a portion of a mud-flap lies, such that the mud-flap is securely held thereby. The leg contacted by the screw-end may have a contact depression formed therein to receive the screw-end, to prevent wandering thereof. In an alternative embodiment, a separate U-shaped expanding tool is provided, one leg of which may engage one leg of the clip, and the other leg of which has a threaded bore in which a screw can be fitted, such that the screw may engage the other leg of the clip.

  • Patent number: 4505322
Abstract: A store for storing heat in rock is produced in that the rock is split up hydraulically in approximately plane parallel fissure planes from a number of boreholes (9, 9', 9", 26). One or more production holes (12, 12', 12", 24, 29) are drilled down to the bottom of the cracked store. Hot water is supplied to the system in that the water is conveyed down to the upper portion of the store, from where the water is conveyed down through the store along zig-zag paths defined by the fissure planes (10, 10', 10", 10a-e) and transverse channels (11, 11', 11", 26,27). Alternatively, the hot water can be supplied along the whole height of the store and travel sideways along the horizontal fissure planes (10'") to the production hole.

  • Patent number: 4503784
Abstract: A closure arrangement for an incinerator or cremator in which the door and the opening in the incinerator are complementary wedge-shapes is described. The door can be automatically lowered by a hydraulic actuator to close the opening by a wedging action in the vertical direction. The seal is enhanced by a sealing strip fastened around the periphery of the door which is compressed between the door and the opening when the door is closed. A hinge is connected between the door and the actuator which allows it to move laterally as well as vertically so that it can fit snugly into the opening. The door can also be raised to close the opening. In the case of large heavy doors the hinge can be omitted and the door may be raised or lowered using guides.
