  • Patent number: 7040497
Abstract: A child safety overcap is provided for a hermetically sealed container with a twist-off access closure having a unitary grip tab. The overcap has a top portion defining at least one slot adapted to engage the tab on the access closure when the overcap is pushed toward the container and a skirt portion that terminates in an expandable rim, e.g., provided with dentils adapted to flex away from the container when the overcap is pushed toward the container. Beads extending inwardly from a distal end of each of the dentils are adapted to snap into a circumferentially groove formed in a neck portion of the container for removably securing the overcap to the container.

  • Patent number: 7029652
Abstract: A method of treating tumors, such as prostate tumors, breast tumors, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and the like, includes the sequential steps of administering to the patient at least one dose of an antiangiogenic cyclo-arginine-glycine-aspartic acid-containing pentapeptide (cRGD pentapeptide); administering to the patient an anti-tumor effective amount of a radioimmunotherapeutic agent (RIT); and then administering to the patient at least one additional dose of cRGD pentapeptide. The cRGD pentapeptide is preferably cyclo-(Arg-Gly-Asp-D-Phe-[N-Me]-Val), and the RIT is preferably a radionuclide-labeled chelating agent-ligand complex in which chelating agent is chemically bonded to a tumor-targeting molecule, such as a monoclonal antibody.

  • Patent number: 7021359
Abstract: A window shade comprising a plurality of collapsible shade rows. Each of the shade rows being adjustable from a closed state to an opened state by an operating mechanism, and including a stiff first transverse region and an opposed second transverse region having a stiffened edge portion. When in the closed state, the window covering includes no or minimal gaps between the rows so that light is substantially or completely blocked. Also, the securement and opening members are also concealed from view when observed from the front or face of the window covering. The operating mechanism causes the narrowing of the rows by drawing the first transverse region and the opposed second transverse region closer together. The operating mechanism further causes the rows to be pivotally rotated to further widen opening in the window covering.

  • Patent number: 7011227
Abstract: A removable and reusable cap for a container is provided. The cap has a platform portion and peripherally associated upstanding and downwardly extending portions, and a depression is defined across the platform portion. In the depression, a dispensing aperture and preferably a vent are defined which are opened and closed by a closure plate that is received within the depression and that has a proximal end which is pivotably associated with the depression. The distal end of the closure plate is pivotally associated with a pull ring that is biased into association with the closure plate and that is nestably received in the closure plate, but that has a finger associatable apex region. When the pull ring is pivoted upwardly, the closure plate is pivoted and the dispensing aperture and vent are opened, preferably the vent before the dispensing aperture.

  • Patent number: 7001669
Abstract: Metal-containing nanostructured films are prepared by electrodepositing a metal-containing composition within the pores of a mesoporous silica template to form a metal-containing silica nanocomposite. The nanocomposite is annealed to strengthen the deposited metal-containing composition. The silica is then removed from the nanocomposite, e.g., by dissolving the silica in an etching solution to provide a self-supporting metal-containing nanostructured film. The nanostructured films have a nanowire or nanomesh architecture depending on the pore structure of the mesoporous silica template used to prepare the films.

  • Patent number: 6998567
Abstract: A method and devices for generating laser pulse trains for delivery to a target including the use of a single laser generator which produces a plurality of pulse groupings of two or more individual laser pulses within each laser pulse train, generated at selected time intervals. The time intervals between the individual pulses within each of the pulse groupings along with the intervals between pulse groupings themselves are selected and controlled by a controller in reference to several variables including the emission and energy storage lifetimes of the lasing medium, the thermal diffusion time constant of the target, the time required to cool the target after the application of laser pulses to its ambient temperature, and the dissipation time of acoustic waves generated by the pulses.

  • Patent number: 6989066
Abstract: A cellular structure such as a honeycomb window treatment and method for making the cellular structure is provided by securing a plurality of rows of elongated cells to one another. Each of the plurality of rows is constructed by providing a first longitudinally extending length of material. This first material includes a first surface and a second surface. The first material further includes a lesser width portion and a greater width portion. A second longitudinally extending length of material is also provided. The second material also includes a first surface and a second surface of the first material. The second surface of the second material is secured to the first surface over the greater width portion of the first material along a plurality longitudinally extending locations, preferably defined by glue or adhesive lines, on the second surface of the second material to form a row.
