    Abstract: A seal and closure member of elastomeric material adapted to be cast in situ and comprising a cylindrical body portion and an integral frusto-conical skirt therewithin. A radially outwardly extending flange is embedded in adjacent concrete. The skirt has a knock-out web at its smaller diameter end portion and the seal and closure member may thus be employed selectively as closure members for apertures in distribution boxes and the like and as seals for pipes in communication with the box interiors. The seal also includes integrally formed bosses which allow a baffle to be secured directly thereon on the interior of the box opposite the end of a pipe in the seal.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for modifying a spun yarn includes first storage or processing equipment for the yarn, subsequent storage or processing equipment for the yarn spaced some distance from the first storage or processing equipment, a path of travel for the yarn defined between the two sets of equipment, and a false untwister device located along said path of travel for imparting a false untwisting process to the yarn, the yarn subsequently reverting at least partly to the true twist originally present in the yarn, whereby the resulting yarn structure has a very much softer handle than was present prior to the false untwisting step.

    Abstract: A splash bar fill assembly for a splash-type cooling tower includes a plurality of splash bars, each of which includes a one-piece elongated member having a generally convex upper surface of restricted width and also having first and second edges having a pair of converging side surfaces depending downwardly therefrom at an acute angle with respect to the upper surface. The side surfaces of the elongated member are of a restricted depth. The invention includes a means for supporting the splash bar within the cooling tower and an arrangement of successive rows. Each supporting means having a first and second section which intersect at an apex. Adjacent splash bars in the first section are vertically offset in ascending orientation towards the apex. Adjacent splash bars in the second section are vertically offset in descending orientation from the apex.

    Abstract: A rotary head assembly for use in a helical-scan magnetic recorder-reproducer includes a pair of magnetic head tips of single-crystal ferrite mounted on an axial end of a rotatable cylinder in substantially diametrically opposite relation to each other, each of the magnetic head tips having two tip members joined to each other through a mating interface and a surface for sliding contact with a magnetic tape. A body of a rigid adhesive is applied to an end of the mating interface remote from the surface. The rigid adhesive is highly rigid and substantially nonelastic for suppressing vibration. The rigid adhesive body attached to the magnetic head tip suppresses vibration of the magnetic head tip to reduce noise produced by the sliding contact between the magnetic head tip and the magnetic tape. The rigid adhesive body increases the rigidty of the magnetic head tip.

The spring carrier includes a lower end defining a pair of spaced bearing surfaces located respectively to engage a pair of bearing surfaces on the bracket, with the spring biasing the bearing surfaces into engagement and providing the counterbalancing forces for the arm assembly.

    Abstract: A device for holding a series of boiled food products and method for baking boiled food products including one or more carriages having pivotally mounted boards thereon for supporting the boiled food products. The carriages are positioned on a movable table adjacent to an opening of a rotatable oven such that each carriage may be disposed within the oven in successive shelves. Each of the boards of each carriage has a trip lever or handle movable between a first position, wherein the boiled food products rest on the boards in a generally horizontal position, and the second position, wherein the lever is rotated permitting the boiled food products to fall onto the shelf itself. A single carriage may also be repeatedly used in multiple shelves of the oven. The shelves of the oven each include a pair of spaced-apart guide rails which constrain lateral movement of the carriage when it is supported within the shelf.

    Abstract: A sliding shutter for a magnetic disk cartridge is disclosed which includes an engaging member positioned to contact a torsion spring in the cartridge during the process of fitting the shutter onto the cartridge. The engaging member acts to guide the spring to the proper position for engagement and has an angled face to facilitate the movement of the spring into engagement in a notch in the engaging member. This also reduces the rate of product rejects caused by springs which are mis-positioned during the assembly process.

The compound arc gear has a plurality of sections each of predetermined varying radius of curvatures to correspond to the physiologic path of flexion or extension of the patient fitted with the device.

The position of the magnetic tape in the tape width direction is controlled by an edge control roller at a position where the magnetic tape arrives at the tape roll. Air between turns of the magnetic tape in the tape roll is discharged by pushing the magnetic tape against the tape roll by use of a push roller while the magnetic tape is present at the outermost circumference of the tape roll.

A recess is formed in the top face of the core portion and a telescopic mold piece is fitted into the recess in such a manner that a narrow space is formed therebetween. An air chamber having a relatively large volume is formed in the vicinity of the top face of the core portion. The air chamber is communicated with the space over the top face of the core portion by way of the narrow space between the mold piece and the recess, and with the atmosphere by way of a communicating passage formed in the core portion.
