  • Patent number: 4763145
Abstract: A water-resistant camera has a lens barrel movable toward and away from a fluid-tight camera body for selecting the position of the lens barrel between wide-angle and telephoto positions. The camera has or can be combined with an automatic air-pressure adjusting mechanism for automatically keeping the air pressure in the inner space of the camera at a substantially constant level irrespective of the position of the lens barrel between the wide-angle position and the telephoto position. Therefore, the lens barrel can smoothly be moved with respect to the camera body upon switching between the wide-angle and telephoto positions.

  • Patent number: 4752797
Abstract: A camera adapted to be loaded with a 35 mm film cassette having a cylindrical body and a tongue portion for defining a film exit slit through which the leader of the film projects, the tongue portion extending substantially tangentially from the side wall of the body. The camera has an openable backlid member and a film chamber member defining a cassette receiving chamber. The cassette receiving chamber is adapted to be opened when the backlid member is opened and comprises a cylindrical portion and a slot portion which substantially conform with the cylindrical body and the tongue portion in shape. Thus the cassette receiving chamber determines the position and orientation of the film cassette when it is inserted thereinto and holds it in place. A guide member extends from the film chamber member to define between the inner surface of the backlid member and itself a film guiding slit aligned with said slot and extending beyond the film aperture of the camera body.

  • Patent number: 4732397
Abstract: A seal and closure member of elastomeric material adapted to be cast in situ and comprising a cylindrical body portion and an integral frusto-conical skirt therewithin. A radially outwardly extending flange is embedded in adjacent concrete. The skirt has a knock-out web at its smaller diameter end portion and the seal and closure member may thus be employed selectively as closure members for apertures in distribution boxes and the like and as seals for pipes in communication with the box interiors.

  • Patent number: 4717517
Abstract: A multi-story concrete building is constructed concurrently, that is, the steps for constructing the same are carried out simultaneously on different respective stories. To achieve this end, vertical formwork members for forming the columns and bearing walls for one story are erected. Then decking formwork is erected for forming a concrete slab to serve as the floor for the next story thereabove. Formwork spacers are affixed to the tops of the vertical formwork members and these spacers provide mounts, extending through the thickness of the slab to be formed, for mounting the vertical formwork members for the next story. The vertical formwork members for the next story are then erected. Fresh concrete is poured into at least the vertical fromwork members and is permitted to cure and solidify into the vertical support members for that story. Other formwork members are erected above the next story while concrete is concurrently poured and formwork is stripped on different respective stories.

  • Patent number: 4712261
Abstract: A mattress guard is disclosed for use in a convertible sofa bed having an air inflatable mattress supported on the mattress support of a folding bed mechanism frame. The mattress guard includes a pair of flexible guard members adapted to be placed on opposed edges of the mattress, elastic straps resiliently securing the guard members together along the top surface of the mattress and attachment devices for securing the guard members to the mattress support below the mattress. The guard members hold the bedding for the mattress securely against the mattress and prevent it from becoming entrapped in the folding mechanism when the bed is folded. In addition the mattress, will be compressed when air is released therefrom prior to folding of the sofa bed to space its edges away from the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4710216
Abstract: A bundle of optical fibers each covered by an acid-soluble borosilicate glass is treated with an acid solution, with an alkali solution, and then with an acid solution to completely remove the acid-soluble glass from the middle portion between the end portions of the optical fiber bundle. A plastic material is charged into the interstices among the fibers at the boundary portions between the middle portion and the end portions. These interstices are free of any insoluble residue of the acid-soluble glass. A reinforcement is formed around the periphery of at least a part of the boundary portions by covering the periphery with a flexible plastic material or by winding a linear member around the periphery.
