Abstract: Magnesium values are selectively extracted from aqueous solutions thereof also containing calcium using quaternary ammonium salts of selected hydrogen ion exchange reagents. Magnesium is stripped from the resulting organic phase with acids.
Abstract: Amino-poly(imidazoline-amide) compositions are disclosed which are useful for occlusion in polyolefins to render them dyeable with acid textile dyes. Polyolefins are useful in textile fibers or filaments. The compositions are certain azelaic acid, polyamide-imidazoline products of a mixture of diethylene triamine and a diamine. Optionally, fatty compounds such as a dimeric fat acid or monomeric fatty acid or another, different aliphatic dicarboxylic acid may be present.

Abstract: A blend of xanthomonas gum and water soluble hydroxyalkyl ether of locust bean gum which has unique thickening properties. The blend is particularly useful in drilling oil wells and in oil well fracturing fluids.
Abstract: Benzoxazoles having the structure ##STR1## where R is hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, R' is hydrogen, chlorine or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, X is H or Chlorine and the total number of carbon atoms in R and R' is 6 to 40 with the proviso that one of R and R' must be an alkyl group of at least 6 carbon atoms. The benzoxazoles are useful in a process of recovering metal values, particularly copper and nickel, from aqueous solutions thereof.
Abstract: Zinc is extracted from aqueous ammoniacal solutions using fluorinated .beta.-diketones of the structure ##STR1## where n is a whole integer of 1 to 4, m is 0, 1 or 2 and R is an alkyl group of 1-25 carbons, the R group or groups providing requisite solubility in liquid hydrocarbon solvents.
