Abstract: Reagents formulated by admixture of selected hydroxy aryl ketoxime and hydroxy aryl aldoxime extractants provide for efficient recovery of metal values, especially copper values, by solvent extraction processes. Specified kinetic and equilibrium conditions, which would require use of predetermined quantities of kinetic additives if ketoximes alone were employed or predetermined quantities of equilibrium modifiers if aldoximes were employed, are secured through formulation of reagents including both ketoxime and aldoxime extractants with less than the predetermined quantities of kinetic additive or equilibrium modifier. Reagents employed in methods of the invention may include from 0 to about 20 mole percent of a kinetic additive based on ketoxime content and also optionally a modifier of extraction and stripping equilibria in an amount providing a degree of modification of the aldoxime constituent of from about 0.75 to 1.0 and preferably from about 0.90 to 1.0.

Abstract: Synergistic thickener mixture comprising a mixture of a polymer of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid and certain water soluble polymers such as the galactomannan gums, derivatives thereof, cellulose derivatives and polyoxyalkylene oxide polymers. The composition finds utility in earth formation fracturing, textile print pastes, suspending pigments in paints and gelling alcohol-based cosmetic formulations.
Abstract: A method of preparing polyvinyl chloride via the suspension polymerization method which includes utilizing an effective amount of hydroxypropyl guar as the suspending agent.
Abstract: Polymeric fat acid polyamides are disclosed useful in the flexographic ink industry, to provide products which will comply with environmental protection standards. The improvement lies in the use of acid termination with acid values of 8-20 and a sufficient amount of unsaturated monomeric fatty acids to provide a molecular weight product which will permit relatively high solids levels and reduced solvent emission while maintaining good ink varnish properties.
Abstract: Nuts are coated by first contacting them with an aqueous sugar and carbohydrate adhesive material, followed by treatment with a dry, honey-containing mixture.
Abstract: Polyols useful in the manufacture of polyurethanes are disclosed. The polyols are prepared by reacting a hydroxymethyl containing monomer compound with a polyol, polyamine or aminoalcohol.
Abstract: The present invention describes leather top coat compositions which are not dependent upon nitrocellulose comprising a mixture of acrylate copolymers and an aliphatic cyclic anhydride.
Abstract: The lubricant which is incorporated into the polycarbonate resin is a complex ester formed by partial esterification of pentaerythritol with a C.sub.5 to C.sub.9 aliphatic carboxylic acid followed by reaction with a C.sub.4 to C.sub.8 aliphatic dicarboxylic acid to form a material represented by the structural formula:[RCO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 ].sub.3 CCH.sub.2 O[CO(CH.sub.2).sub.x CO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 C(CH.sub.2 O.sub.2 CR).sub.2 CH.sub.2 O].sub.y --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.x CO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 C[CH.sub.2 O.sub.2 CR].sub.3wherein the above formula y has an average value of from 3 through 12; x has a value of 2 to 6 and R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon group of from 5 to 9 carbon atoms.
Abstract: The present invention describes the preparation and utilization of tocopherol acetylsalicylate compounds which have utility for lessening erythema.
