  • Patent number: 3990477
Abstract: A flow control valve includes a valve body defining a main bore and a cross-drilled bore communicating therewith. A valve spool is reciprocable within the main bore and includes first and second lands connected by a reduced diameter connecting portion. The connecting portion has fixed relative thereto and thereabout an annular rib, positioned between the two lands. The rib acts as a guide to direct fluid substantially perpendicular to the axis of reciprocal motion of the spool when the spool is positioned to allow fluid flow between the main and cross-drilled bores, to minimize fluid flow forces tending to hold the spool in an open position.

  • Patent number: 3987534
Abstract: A furniture construction, such as a chair, table or foot stool, may be made by cutting a flat circular member into a plurality of panels along chordal lines thereof. The chair, for example, may be formed out of four identical panels, as defined by first and second perpendicular pairs of parallel chordal cut lines. In assembling the chair, seat and back panels are clamped between a pair of laterally spaced side panels by a plurality of tie rods and the back panel is adjustably mounted on the seat panel. In the preferred embodiment of this invention, the edges of the panels are each covered by cushioned edging means comprising a plurality of first fibrous ropes extending the full length of such edge and a second continuous fibrous rope extending sequentially through a plurality of apertures spaced along and inwardly of the edge in spiralled and wrapped relationship over the first ropes to bind them against the panel.

  • Patent number: 3987565
Abstract: The present invention provides an index apparatus comprising a base, a cover, locking and unlocking means, indexing means, a coil spring, cards etc. When compared with conventional ones, the apparatus of the present invention has the following main features. The construction and the fitting to impart the opening capacity to the cover of an index apparatus are very simple. To mention more fully, the opening capacity can easily be given to the cover only by inserting the coil spring in the contracted state into the projections on the base without conventional fastening with iron core inserted into the coil spring. Unlike conventional ones, the index means of the index apparatus in the present invention is simple in its construction and easy to fit. The indexing means consists of two parts, the indexing member made of semi-hard synthetic resin and the slider made of elastic material, and is characterized by its easy fitting without any processing.
