  • Patent number: 7790867
Abstract: The present invention relates to a group of viral RNA regulatory genes, here identified as “viral genomic address messenger genes” or “VGAM genes”, and as “genomic record” or “GR” genes. VGAM genes selectively inhibit translation of known host target genes, and are believed to represent a pervasive viral attack mechanism. GR genes encode an operon-like cluster of VGAM genes. VGAM and viral GR genes may therefore be useful in diagnosing, preventing and treating viral disease. Several nucleic acid molecules are provided respectively encoding several VGAM genes, as are vectors and probes, both comprising the nucleic acid molecules, and methods and systems for detecting VGAM genes, and for counteracting their activity.

  • Patent number: 7788360
Abstract: A configurable distributed information sharing system includes a process for controlling the sharing of data entities among a plurality of interconnected computers including one or more servers and a plurality of client computers. As transactions are processed by the client computers, the client computers log new data records, modified data records, and deleted data records. During communication sessions with servers, the client computers convey the changed data entities to the server for relay to other client computers according to a data sharing table. The data sharing table includes a data source column listing all data sending computers, a data destination column matching all data receiving computers with data sending computers from which they will receive changed data, and a data identification column matching all the types of data that will be shared among specific data sending and data receiving computers.

  • Patent number: 7782107
Abstract: An apparatus for an event tolerant circuit including a latch. The event tolerant circuit may maintain correct data values even after the occurrence of an event such as a soft error. The event tolerant circuit may introduce a delay in a feedback loop, thereby passing the glitch value to an element in the feedback loop at different times, thus preventing the propagation of the glitch through the event tolerant circuit.

  • Patent number: 7782953
Abstract: Both distortion rate and bit-rate can be considered together when selecting a lowest cost motion estimation signal. A motion estimation signal is generated for each of the candidate motion vectors and candidate mode information vectors for a macroblock. An estimated amount of encoding bits is determined for each of the candidate motion vectors, candidate mode information vectors, and quantized coefficients. A bit-rate is computed based on the estimated amount of encoding bits. In addition, a current macroblock is reconstructed with each of the candidate vectors, and distortion measured between each of the reconstructions and the current macroblock. A sum is computed for each distortion measurement and corresponding bit-rate. The lowest sum represents the lowest cost motion estimation signal.

  • Patent number: 7783758
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for improving the overall performance of a system which processes transactions and provides connections in an enterprise environment are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for processing a transaction in an enterprise environment includes receiving a request to start the transaction, storing information which indicates that the request to start the transaction was received, and accessing a first resource manager associated with the transaction. Typically, a container receives the request to start a transaction from a component such as an enterprise bean. Once the first resource is accessed, the transaction is initiated as a local transaction on the first resource manager, and, eventually, the transaction is completed. In one embodiment, completing the transaction includes using a local transaction mechanism of the first resource manager to complete the local transaction.
