  • Patent number: 6868744
Abstract: A pair of magnetic flux collecting rings and a magnetic sensor are integrally covered by a molded resin to form a sub unit of a torque sensor. The pair of rings and sensors are integrated and are in contact with each other, i.e., the magnetic sensor is held in between respective magnetic flux collecting portions of the rings without any air gap formed therebetween. Magnetic flux collected by the rings can be detected by the magnetic sensor to a maximum degree, whereby the signal output of the magnetic sensor is enhanced and made stable.

  • Patent number: 6870290
Abstract: A direct current motor is comprised of an armature, magnets arranged to face each other through the armature, a commutator and brushes. The armature has a core and a plurality of coils wound on the core. Each magnet has a main part and an extension extending form the main part. The main part has an angular interval which corresponds to an interval of winding each coil, so that the extension is positioned outside the coil in the circumferential direction. During the commutation period of the coil, that is, during shorting of the coil by the brush, the amount of magnetic flux passing through the coil is changed by the extension of the magnet. Thus, an induction voltage is generated in the coil to counteract to a reactance voltage of the coil.

  • Patent number: 6868743
Abstract: A torque sensor is provided which consists of a magnet, an assembly of magnetic rings, and a magnetic sensor. The magnetic rings have claws arrayed thereround at regular intervals. Each of the claws of one of the rings is interposed between adjacent two of the claws of the other ring. Upon input of torque, the magnet is rotated relative to the ring assembly, thereby causing the density of magnetic flux to change as a function of the torque which is sensed by the magnetic sensor. Each of the claws is geometrically shaped so as to increase the density of magnetic flux flowing through the ring assembly, thereby improving the sensitivity of the sensor.

  • Patent number: 6867456
Abstract: A first trench is formed in a surface of an n+-type semiconductor substrate that forms a source region. A p-type base region, an n?-type drift region, and an n+-type drain region are deposited in this order in the first trench using epitaxial growth. A second trench extending from the source region to the drift region through the base region is formed in the surface. A gate insulating film and a gate electrode are formed on a surface defining the second trench. The n+-type drain region has a location where growing surfaces come together in epitaxial growth and where a defect is likely to occur, and the gate electrode lacks such a location and thus avoids an increase in normalized ON resistance. Therefore, the breakdown voltage remains high without increasing the ON resistance.
