  • Patent number: 8300068
Abstract: A vehicle navigation system is described that includes a map display controller that is able to control display of a map with facilities and moving images, including balloon icons, associated with the facilities. The moving images are controlled to move relative to the various facilities. The map display controller operates such that when a user touches a display screen of the navigation system at a particular position, moving images are controlled to be displayed as moving toward the particular position. In addition, if the user causes the map to be scrolled by an operation unit, the moving images are controlled to be displayed as moving toward a center of the map as displayed according the performed scroll.

  • Patent number: 8296211
Abstract: A process for the analysis and selection of financial investments based on a comparative analysis of performance and diversification. Large data sets can be manipulated in a manner that is simple to understand and convenient to use. Historical performance data for investments can be analyzed in respect of every possible investment period using any pre-existing or personally defined quantitative measurement algorithm. The user can apply his or her personal weightings to the various performance measurements based on a combination of attribute and time period to construct a customized scoring process, based on which a comparative ranking of the investments can be created. Further, a complete universe of investments can be segmented into peer groups based on one of a number of similarity/dissimilarity criteria from which the user may choose.

  • Patent number: 8292784
Abstract: In a vehicle control device, a brake feedback control unit calculates a brake feedback torque Tfb-BK using a PID control model when a current state is a brake feedback use state. The brake feedback control unit stops the calculation of the brake feedback torque Tfb-BK when the current state is a brake feedback limitation state, and stores as an output value the brake feedback torque Tfb-BK that is output at a brake limitation start timing. At a brake limitation release timing, the brake feedback control unit restarts the feedback control using the stored brake feedback torque Tfb-BK as an initial value. The brake mechanism can thereby generate a predetermined brake torque of not more than 0 [N·m] immediately after the brake limitation release timing.

  • Patent number: 8290066
Abstract: A signal transmission circuit is capable of reducing distortion that occurs during signal transmission. A digital output signal is transmitted from a terminal to a signal line via an output buffer circuit and an output impedance unit. The terminal is connected to an impedance variation unit via an impedance control unit. The impedance variation unit designates an impedance for terminating the signal line when the output data is changed from a high level H to a low level. A reflection occurring on the signal line can be prevented and a waveform distortion can be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 8284252
Abstract: A detection unit obtains a position of a feature point of an occupant. A storage unit stores a model of all specific actions in each of physical feature classifications. The model defines a position or a locus of the feature point in each specific action, which an occupant may perform. A determining unit compares an in-action feature point with each model of a specific action, which is being performed, to determine a classification conformity weight indicating a possibility that the occupant belongs to the physical feature classification. An estimating unit compares the position of the feature point with each model to obtain a comparison result and generate a conformity value by incorporating the classification conformity weight into the comparison result. The estimating unit detects an estimated action, which is a specific action corresponding to the model, which has a highest conformity value.

  • Patent number: 8285472
Abstract: A navigation apparatus acquires a traffic event and accordingly determines whether or not to change a guiding route to a destination. Based on an affirmative determination, the navigation apparatus displays icons corresponding to traffic events causing the affirmative determination near a road containing the traffic event in a map image in a representation mode for an image of the traffic event different from a normal representation mode assigned to the traffic event. In this manner, the navigation apparatus changes the guiding route to the destination dynamically depending on information about traffic events on roads and allows a user to recognize a cause of changing the guiding route.
