The optical switch includes a loop-form optical waveguide loop circuit formed from an optical nonlinear medium, a control light input arrangement for inputting the control light into the optical waveguide loop circuit and serving as a phase control arrangement, a wavelength demultiplexing/multiplexing circuit, and a phase bias circuit.
Abstract: A fiber waveguide optical subassembly uses the multi-mode fiber to increase the alignment tolerance between the active optical element and the waveguide. The filter is thinner to lower the dispersion due to the optical coupling gap. The subassembly further combines the optical bench to achieve passive positioning. Therefore it reduces the cost and enhances the transmission rate.

Abstract: An improved modulation circuit and method for TDMA are provided, wherein the transmission data (TD) in odd-numbered time-slots are processed based on a transmission-window signal (Twe) with a differential encoder (10o), a timing generator (20o), a filter (30o), an amplitude data generator (40o), a multiplier (50o), and an I/Q-discriminator (60o), which are configured as odd-dedicated units, and is output from an adder (71) as transmission signal data (IT) and (QT). The transmission data (TD) in even-numbered time-slots is processed with a differential encoder (10e) and other components, which are configured as even-dedicated units, and is output from the adder (71) in common. Thereby, the appropriate data transmission can be achieved in spite of a decrease of guard bits between a couple of time-slots.

A hybrid control unit (3) which comprises a means for calculating assigned voltages of the capacitor modules, a means for calculating an average value of the assigned voltages of the capacitor module, and a means for equalizing the assigned voltages of the capacitor modules based on the average value. By restricting a difference among the assigned voltages of the capacitor modules (11), it is possible to fully utilize a capacity of the electricity storage device (10).
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a semiconductor device includes the steps of preparing a semiconductor substrate, forming a lower electrode having a laminated film of Ir and IrO2 whose thickness is 100 nm or less over the semiconductor substrate, forming a capacity insulating film comprised of a metal oxide dielectric on the lower electrode, and forming an upper electrode comprised of a precious metal film on the capacity insulating film.
Abstract: A semiconductor device in includes a transistor and a surge absorption element such as Zener diode, that are formed on the same substrate and connected in parallel. The surge absorption element has a resistance during breakdown operation that is smaller than the resistance of the surge absorption element during breakdown operation of the transistor. In addition, the secondary breakdown current of the surge absorption element is larger than the secondary breakdown current of the transistor. Upon application of a high ESD voltage and high surge voltage, the energy of the ESD and surge is absorbed by operation of the surge absorption element and is limited to a voltage equal to or less than the breakdown voltage of the transistor, which would otherwise be destroyed.

Abstract: A method that uses at least one hydrogen ion beam for alignment of liquid crystal molecules is proposed in the present invention. The method of the present invention is proposed to resolve the problems of physical destruction and surface deterioration of the alignment films caused by the conventional method using argon ions beams. The method of the present invention directly uses at least one hydrogen ion beam to impact the alignment film. Hence, the physical destruction of the alignment film is reduced. In addition, via the reaction between hydrogen ions and the alignment films, the quality of the alignment film is improved.
