  • Patent number: 4045914
Abstract: A door operator of electromechanical character for utilization with pivotally mounted doors, as by a center pivot, a butt hinge, or an offset pivot, comprising a prime mover, a driving shaft, adapted for rotation about a vertical axis and being secured through an arm to the door to be operated. A gear train interconnects said prime mover and said driving shaft wherein the gears are mounted as by a unique arrangement of needle roller and needle thrust bearings to permit said gear train to operate smoothly in door opening operation as a speed reducer and in door closing operation as a gear increaser. Energy storing means operatively connected to said driving shaft for storing energy during door opening operation and for energy releasing to drive said gear shaft during door closing operation. The said operator is adapted for compact disposition within the header of a door frame.

  • Patent number: 4039060
Abstract: A stamping press system, the press having a ram, a driving means for the ram, and an electrically energizable ram control device for causing the driving means to drive the ram through a stamping cycle. The press is guarded by a barrier movable between an open position permitting operator access to the point of stamping operation and a closed position barring such access. A press trip control for the system has a pair of actuators, one for each hand of the operator. Upon their concurrent actuation, the actuators cause movement of the barrier to the closed position and energization of the ram control device initiating a stamping cycle. Provision is included for preventing such energization thereby preventing a stamping cycle if the barrier is not closed. Circuitry of the system prevents re-energization of the ram control device, thus preventing a further cycle until the operator has removed both hands from the actuators.

  • Patent number: 4030774
Abstract: A bicycle having front and rear wheel caliper brakes each being connected by a cable to a linkage including a swingable cam element which is normally disposed in the path of travel of a cooperating cam member mounted for movement concentrically about the pedal axle whereby the cam element through its swingability is removed from such path during forward pedaling action and is lockingly engageable with such cam member upon back pedaling action. In the latter condition force is applied to the linkage for effecting a pull upon the cables to effect braking operation. The cam members are so related to the pedal cranks that when engagement with the cam element is effected one pedal crank will be downwardly directed whereby a support stand carried upon the associated pedal may cause such pedal to swing to present the support stand for engagement with the support surface.

  • Patent number: 4030729
Abstract: An ice skating surface of artificial or non-refrigerated character which is constituted of a multiplicity of discrete panel-like components each of which are preferably of identical construction for ease of assembly and replacement. Each component is desirably of square form being fabricated of moldable material and having a thickness in the range of 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. Each component is provided along its edges with alternating tongues and cavities of complementary contour for interlocking relationship with the corresponding elements on the confronting edge of adjacent components so as to form an integrated surface wherein accidental parting of the components is reliably inhibited.

  • Patent number: 4030164
Abstract: A retention device for filleting fish comprising a flat surface-forming, elongated body for supporting the fish to be filleted. The body is provided adjacent its forward end with a curvate opening, the bight portion of which extends forwardly of the body, and having a forward and rearward edge portions. The curvature of the opening is generally the same as the anterior edge of the external gill openings of a fish whereby the gill openings are receivable within the opening. The body opening rearward edge is provided with a series of serrations or corrugations for wedging engagement within the individual gill ports of the received fish for maintaining the same stably in position on the body during filleting.
