Abstract: A bicycle having front and rear wheel caliper brake assemblies which are connected to a swingably mounted lever which in one form of the invention is operatively engaged to the pedal shaft through friction-producing elements as well as to cables controlling the brake assemblies so that upon back pedaling action the brakes will be automatically applied; but with there being a linkage connection between said lever and a pawl engageable with a driven sprocket on the rear axle to promote slackness in the transmission chain upon brake application. In another form of the invention, the particular lever member is operatively engageable with the pedal shaft by bearing elements carried thereon and to a front pawl lockable with a drive sprocket; and there being an elongated finger-like element fixed to the lever and engageable with the transmission chain for assuring of slackness therein upon release of the said front pawl.
Abstract: A device for forming a log-simulative member from combustible, flexible sheet material comprising spaced-apart end frames, having an upwardly opening pan extending between and supported by said end frames and being of semi-annular cross section. A shaft extending between said end frames in elevated relationship to the base of said pan and being adapted for rotation as well as endwise withdrawal from said device. Leaf springs are mounted within said pan for applying upwardly directed force upon said material wound about said shaft as the same is developed into a log-simulative member.
Abstract: An auxiliary lock comprising a lock body for extension through an opening in the closure to be secured; there being a stop forming element on one end of said lock body for engaging one side portion of said door to limit the extension of said lock body therethrough, as well as to stabilize same in position. A bolt is presented for projecting through a bore in the extended portion of said lock body, in generally axially perpendicular relationship thereto. One end of said bolt is enlarged to limit its projection through said lock body bore, and the other end is received within a socket provided in the structure adjacent the door. A lock is engageable upon said bolt between said lock body and said socket.
Abstract: A method for producing a cutting face from a hard cutting material for engineer's tools comprising, essentially, presenting the metal stock to a feed slot within a forming core, heating the same to its deformation temperature and then forcing now deformed stock through said forming core into the desired shape. A helical cutting face produced by such method having a length greater than one-third its total lead; a helix angle in the range of 10.degree.-45.degree.; being of a length of one and one-half inches upward depending upon the particular tool requirement; and being of any desired cross-section.
Abstract: A unitary wheel and tire assembly comprising an injection-molded, thermoplastic wheel and a tire which is injection-molded on the wheel. The tire is of elastic material, such as synthetic or natural rubber, and having irregular inner surface portions complementary to the irregularity in the confronting surface portions of the wheel to bring about a reliable mechanical interfit.

Abstract: A stake for the game of horseshoes having its target part coiled to form a curvature, and being mounted by means of a horizontally disposed extension hinged for swingable support of the stake, and a yieldable member disposed also for support of the stake.
Abstract: A high pressure laminate comprising an overlay sheet impregnated with a melamine resin, and an unimpregnated decorative sheet of fibrous cellulosic material, a thin resin coating on preferably the backside of said decorative layer, and a core comprising a multiplicity of sheets of cellulosic material impregnated with a phenolic resin.

Abstract: A device for use with a conventional loop-provided boat line to effect docking or mooring of boats comprising a pair of rigid arms for detachable engagement upon opposed portions of the strands of the loop near the base thereof; there being a pivotal connection between each of the rigid arms adjacent their rearward or loop remote ends for swingable movement of the same away from and toward each other, or into open or closed condition, respectively. The rearward ends of these arms are formed to provide cooperating jaws for clamping relationship upon an interposed implement as the arms are moved away from each other for loop opening through a pulling force upon the line.
Abstract: A machine for dispensing labels and the like from a backing sheet to which the labels are removably adhered, having side plates with guide rollers extending therebetween for directing the backing sheet through a discharge passage. The end of said discharge passage is provided with a forward leading edge about which the backing sheet is downwardly and rearwardly directed for withdrawing or parting of the sheet from the applied labels. A normally closed microswitch is presented in the path of at least one of such labels for switch opening engagement therewith when such label has projected a preselected distance beyond such leading edge by reason of the parting. A prime mover is in circuit with said switch and is de-energized upon opening of the latter to permit the operator an interval within which to complete the removal of the labels from the sheet, upon which event the switch is restored to closed state and resumption of the backing sheet travel through the machine is effected.
Abstract: Packaging material for ferrous metal parts and the like which comprises a substrate of paper stock, transparent film or foil, and having applied thereon a coating comprehending a vapor phase corrosion inhibitor of the nitrite-amide type, and a self-sealable adhesive as from the natural and synthetic latices. The proportion of the inhibitor to the latices in the coating is in the range from 5 to 25 percent by weight depending upon the characteristics of the substrate.
